At this time, the small town in New Mexico had no idea a catastrophic disaster was about to descend.
The area around the hammer that fell from the sky had long since been cleared into a large open space for a tug-of-war event.
All the previous strongman contestants had been eliminated—they might as well have been ants trying to shake a tree.
Next came off-road vehicles. Unsurprisingly, they were useless. Large trucks tried next, still failing miserably, almost flipping over in the process.
Finally, the heavyweight contestant arrived: a hundred-ton crane. Its steel chain securely wrapped around the hammer, the crane almost blew its engine—but the hammer didn't budge an inch.
Of course, challengers kept coming, each more confident than the last, but the outcome was always the same.
As videos of the hammer went viral on social media, influencers flooded in.
Even a casual TikTok or Instagram video could make someone famous overnight.
The town didn't grow quieter because the hammer couldn't be pulled—it became more popular than ever.
Residents joked, "Oh, hammer, you're staying a while. We're going to get rich!"
When Leo arrived with Magneto, no one batted an eye at the sharp-looking man wearing a helmet.
"Sir, did you bring me here to lift this hammer?" Magneto asked, understanding Leo's intent.
But Leo wasn't interested in lifting it—it was too trivial. Fame from pulling a hammer? Boring.
"Heh heh, you don't understand. Do you know the origin of this hammer?" Leo asked.
Magneto shook his head, clueless.
"Please enlighten me, sir," he said politely.
"Alright, then I'll tell you." Leo pointed to the hammer and smiled.
"That hammer is Mjolnir, the weapon of Thor, the Thunder God."
"What?" Magneto's jaw dropped. Myths and legends… could they actually be real?
Seeing Magneto's wide-eyed disbelief, Leo shook his head. "Oh, look at you, so unknowledgeable—it's embarrassing!"
He thumped Magneto on the head. The latter flushed with shame, recalling his earlier reaction.
"Come on, I'll take you to meet Thor," Leo said, scanning the surroundings.
After Magneto lifts Mjolnir, he'll also need to lure Odin down for a beating. Leo secretly envied Odin's Odinforce.
"Really???" Magneto's face lit up. Finally, he'd meet a living god!
"Don't get your hopes up. When you meet the real Thor, all your previous imaginations will seem childish," Leo teased.
Thor, that idiot, had a head full of muscles and funny cells. Going against Odin? The man had a death wish.
Loki tormented him for a thousand years, yet he survived.
Thor's powers had been recalled by Odin, and he'd just been roughed up by Jane Foster and her companions.
Of course, Thor wasn't seriously hurt. Jane and the others had simply picked him up.
Newly arrived on Earth, he had nowhere else to go, so he went along.
Outside a restaurant, Leo sensed their movements and teleported there with Magneto.
"Hi there, are you also going to New Mexico?" he greeted. In the 21st century, looking good was half the battle, and this got attention.
Before Jane Foster could answer, the enthusiastic Daisy leaned in.
"Yes! Isn't everyone on this road heading to New Mexico to see the hammer?" she said as a matter of course.
"Hello, I'm Jane Foster. This is Daisy Lewis, and next to me is Dr. Erik Selvig," Jane introduced. She was exasperated—Daisy was too infatuated with Leo.
"Sir, you look familiar. Have we met before?" Daisy asked.
Leo knew them, but played along. "Hello, I'm Leo, and this is my good friend Erik Lehnsherr." He introduced Magneto casually.
The three were stunned.
"Oh, God! I knew you looked familiar!"
"Oh my! He's the Human God Leo!"
"Haha! My ultimate idol!"
Jane and Daisy fangirled, shaking him, wishing they could throw themselves at him.
"Cough cough, quiet! You don't want to be gawked at, do you?" Leo said, enjoying the attention but keeping his composure.
Erik Selvig smiled, pulling out a notebook for an autograph.
"Hello, Thor. Welcome to Earth," Leo said, finally turning to Thor, who was curiously looking around.
"Hahaha! Hello, Earthling! You have good judgment! I, Thunder God Thor, like people with good judgment. Follow me, and I'll protect you!" Thor laughed, nearly in tears, patting Leo's shoulder vigorously.
Finally, someone recognized him!
"Thunder God Thor??"
Four exclamations rang out simultaneously. Could this smirking, ragged man really be Thor?
Magneto couldn't believe it—his worldview collapsed. Jane and Daisy's views shattered too.
Seeing their reactions, Leo laughed internally, telling himself to hold it in. Professionals can't lose it.
"Cough cough, that's right!"
Their dreams were destroyed, fully. Dusty, ragged Thor looked utterly disheveled.
