Tonia's POV
The tinted windows shielded us from prying eyes outside, creating our own private world within the confines of the car.
I was ready to bolt from the vehicle when his demeanor shifted completely. His hand fell away from his forehead as his eyelids fluttered open slowly. The crimson stream from his nose had finally ceased, leaving only dried traces of what had just occurred.
"Are you okay?" My words came out sharp and panicked.
His gaze found mine, confusion clouding his features.
"You're bleeding." I frantically dug through my purse, retrieving a pack of tissues. When he reached out to handle it himself, I brushed his hand away and gently pressed the soft paper against his nose.
His chest rose and fell in an irregular rhythm, but neither of us spoke while I carefully cleaned away the evidence of his episode.
"What just happened?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"I have no idea." His brow furrowed as he stared at the steering wheel, lost in thought.
