Kermit's POV
I watched as tension rippled through Tonia's body like electricity. Her eyes darted toward mines for the briefest moment before dropping back to study the marble floor beneath her feet.
Reading her had become second nature to me. Behind all that fire and defiance she constantly displayed lived a woman who had spent her entire existence drowning in fear. Every sharp word, every rebellious glare was nothing more than armor she had forged to protect herself. She was desperately trying to become someone else entirely.
The realization stirred something uncomfortable in my chest. What kind of life had shaped Tonia Alexa into this guarded creature standing beside me?
Alpha Fox's voice cut through my thoughts like a blade. "I appreciate the interest, Alpha Pierce, but my daughter already belongs to someone else."
The words hit the gathering like a thunderclap. Murmurs rippled through the crowd as curious eyes turned toward us.
