Tonia's POV
That was the moment everything shattered.
My last shred of composure crumbled like dust in my trembling hands.
Air rushed in and out of my lungs in ragged bursts as I fought against the tears threatening to spill. Despite my efforts, one rebellious drop escaped and traced a warm path down my cheek.
The Executioner pivoted toward me completely, her lips curved in what could only be described as satisfaction. Part of me wondered if my obvious distress entertained her.
"So what will it be, Tonia?" Her footsteps echoed as she approached me again. "Will you share what you know with me? Or shall I contact my associates instead?"
Both choices led to disaster. There was absolutely no chance I would let her walk out of here with her suspicions intact.
Through my terror and flowing tears, a desperate idea crystallized in my mind.
Her associates had no idea I even existed. If she never reported back to them, they would remain completely in the dark about me.
