I refused to look at Bradley, keeping my focus entirely on Kermit as I prepared for what I was about to do to his mind. There could be no room for error in this.
During our wait for nightfall, Bradley had forced me to practice on three of his captives. The fact that he already had prisoners showed just how quickly his power was growing.
My abilities performed exactly as intended without taking their lives, unlike the accidental death of that Executioner before.
"The moment I inject the antidote, his strength will be depleted. That's your window to Siphon him. Are we clear?"
"Does it have to be this way?" Tears blurred my vision as I met his gaze.
"We could simply release him and I'll maintain my distance as the contract requires. There's no need to—"
"Absolutely not. I know Kermit better than anyone. He'll never stop pursuing you, regardless of your attempts to avoid him. He needs a compelling reason to keep his distance."
