The cheerful expression vanished from Solace's features in an instant. Her face contorted with malice as she advanced on me with predatory steps.
"You think I'm blind to your scheming? You threw yourself at Kermit and made him claim you as fast as possible. All to guarantee your position at his side? Well, let me remind you who still holds the crown, Tonia."
I laughed in her face, sharp and mocking. "Oh, pathetic Solace." My voice dripped with false sympathy. "Dense little Solace. Always assuming everything revolves around some petty contest. What Kermit and I have transcends your shallow understanding of competition. Unfortunately, it's also something beyond your comprehension since you've never truly experienced love."
The realization hit me like lightning, my eyebrows drawing together. "Tell me, Solace, have you ever actually been loved?"
