Tonia's POV
A harsh laugh escaped my lips, deep and throaty, echoing across the packed square. The sound made me appear as wild as the cheering masses surrounding us.
Kermit was moving toward me through the crowd, and I couldn't contain myself any longer. I broke into a run, arms stretched wide, laughter spilling from me like champagne from an uncorked bottle.
His strong arms opened just as I reached him, catching me effortlessly and lifting me clear off the ground. He spun us both in a circle while I clung to his shoulders.
I laughed with pure joy, my fingers gripping the back of his neck as if he might disappear.
"We actually pulled it off, sweetheart," he murmured against my ear before setting me down gently.
"No way! This was all you, you impossible, stubborn king of mine!"
Our laughter mingled together, my arms still wound around his neck in celebration.
