Kael Silverlight didn't have time to think. A noise beside him pulled him back to reality.
The red-robed Priest was still okay. But the white-robed people became crazy after touching the red liquid. Their bodies moved more violently, their faces showed a wild look, and their mouths kept dripping saliva, like a starving wolf.
The big man in the rough cloth, the ones who were like bodyguards, were now trembling on the ground as if they had taken some drug, their bodies shaking uncontrollably.
Kael Silverlight felt something was very wrong. He took two steps back.
Sure enough.
The white-robed people's eyes had more red veins. One of them suddenly lunged at the sacrifice next to him-those poor people locked in cages-and began tearing into them, swallowing the flesh.
"Ah! Let me go!" The person being ripped apart kicked and punched, trying to escape. But they had no chance against the white-robed people. They were pinned down and could only be eaten piece by piece, making crying sounds in their mouths.
The smell of blood grew stronger in the air, like an injected drug that made the white-robed people even more excited. Their eyes were completely red, and they found their targets and bit down without hesitation.
Fuck!
What the hell is this?
Kael Silverlight looked around. He had no time to care about the red-robed Priest anymore. He needed to save himself first.
At that moment, one of the white-robed people roared and charged at Kael.
Kael didn't hesitate. He bent down, picked up his long sword, and swung it hard.
The white-robed person was almost on top of Kael, but he didn't expect Kael to fight back. He had no time to react. In the next second, Kael cut the person in half at the waist.
Kael looked at the two halves of the white-robed person and stared at his sword, a little confused.
For a moment, he couldn't tell if the sword was just sharp or if he was just that good to kill someone with one strike.
He had killed someone, but he felt nothing. The men in the rough cloth were still lying on the ground, having some kind of convulsion. The white-robed people kept tearing and eating the sacrifices. Only the red-robed Priest was kneeling on one knee, as if waiting for something.
This was a chance.
Kael Silverlight thought to himself and turned to run.
The red-robed Priest's voice came out, saying, "No one who comes to me ever escapes."
Kael's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't stop running. Now was the time to go.
Because he was facing away, Kael didn't see the Priest's move. But he felt the ground was strange.
The blood-covered ground started to move. A blood hand came up from the ground and grabbed Kael's ankle.
Kael's heart nearly stopped. He quickly swung his sword at the blood hand. Fortunately, it was just flesh, no bones. He cut it off at the root. Just as he tried to lift his foot, the other ankle was grabbed by another blood hand.
Kael was sweating. He kept fighting with the blood hands, but he didn't know how to deal with them. They kept growing back after being cut, and he couldn't stop them, so he couldn't move an inch.
The red-robed man had already figured out that Kael Silverlight couldn't run away. He didn't even turn around, just kept staring at the altar.
"Burp-"
A burp came out.
Kael Silverlight turned in fear. Inside the pit where the sacrifices had been thrown, a stinky, foul smell kept coming out.
Fucking the evil god, are you full already?
And that burp is way too bad.
The red-robed man's face turned even more respectful, and he knelt on both knees, praying with deep devotion: "O Great God of Endless Hunger, grant the lost believer the path to divinity."
The evil god actually heard the red-robed man's prayer. The red light around the bone tablet flared up, and a leg bone landed in front of the red-robed man, engraved with words.
The red-robed man pressed his face to the ground, waiting silently until the altar stopped making noise, then he lifted his head and grabbed the bone like it was the most precious thing.
The altar went silent. The red light, the blood-and-flesh ground-all disappeared. Only the full moon above remained, still red and terrifying.
Of course.
The center of the square was even more horrifying. Bodies were everywhere. The white-robed people had eaten the sacrifices clean. The men in burlap acted like hyenas, picking the last bits of meat off the bones.
Even the white-robed man Kael had killed wasn't spared. In the chaos, he was completely eaten.
Kael's face showed a mix of emotions. The red-robed man was enjoying the true gift of the邪神. The white-robed people were eating the leftover sacrifices. The men in burlap were the lowest of the low, forced to eat scraps and leftovers.
They weren't people. They were just wild, bloodthirsty beasts.
"Dong-"
The red-robed man, who had just stood up, knelt down again after looking at the bone. He asked, "O God of Endless Hunger, why is the Potion Recipe to reach godhood still incomplete?"
His red robes were puffed out from his excitement. His red eyes showed confusion and confusion.
But no one answered.
The red-robed man fell into a low mood and stayed on his knees for a long time without moving.
Potion Recipe?
Kael Silverlight thought to himself. Could he use his lifespan to predict it?
It should work, in theory.
"Did you kill Toby?" One white-robed man walked up to Kael and looked at the blood-covered sword in his hand.
At this point, the ceremony was over. The wild, violent energy on their bodies was gone. All that was left was the red veins in their eyes, showing that the beast inside them hadn't fully calmed down.
Kael Silverlight gave a nervous smile, and lied: "It was too chaotic. Maybe you guys killed Mr. Toby by mistake. Oh, he was really pitiful."
"Damn it, kill him," another white-robed man shouted, his finger trembling as he pointed at Kael.
In the outside world, they were all considered weirdos. So they stuck together, valued each other deeply. Now Toby was killed, and they were extremely angry. Their madness was almost impossible to hold back.
Kael gave the man a quick look and snorted, saying straight out, "I saw you eat the most when Toby was being eaten."
The white-robed man's eyes twitched with red veins, as if they were about to come to life. He roared, "You fucking bastard, I'll kill you."
He took a quick step forward, and dark red light flowed along his arm. The wind from his palm, even from a meter away, made Kael's face feel like it was being cut.
So strong?
Kael felt a bit dizzy. How did he kill this guy before?
Now wasn't the time to think about that. Kael shouted, "Red-robed Priest, I can help you finish the Potion."
The white-robed man's hand was already at Kael's nose, but he couldn't move forward. That was because the red-robed man jumped in and grabbed the white-robed man's wrist tightly.
The red-robed man's red eyes, hidden under his hood, stared directly at Kael. The close eye contact almost made Kael feel like he was suffocating.
"Are you really able to finish the Potion Recipe?" the red-robed man's voice was rough.
Kael nodded quickly, saying, "It's absolutely true."
The white-robed man, who was grabbed by the red-robed man, quickly shouted, "Priest, don't be fooled! This little guy probably doesn't even know what a Potion is. How could he possibly have a way to finish it? This is just an excuse to buy time."
Kael rolled his eyes and shot back, "You idiot. If I trick the Priest, I still die in the end, right?"
The red-robed man stared at Kael for three or five seconds, then let go of the white-robed man's wrist and asked, "What method are you going to use to finish the Potion Recipe?"
Kael Silverlight calmed down and said quietly, "I need to see the Potion Recipe."
The red-robed man hesitated for a few seconds, then handed the bone to Kael.
Kael took the bone stick and looked at the words on it, showing a little shock.
Fuck!
There were no words on the bone stick-just some weird, complicated patterns. It was probably an old language.
Kael remembered the old language class he took in school. It was said that all the real magic and Alchemy were passed down in old languages, most of which were lost. The magic spells and Alchemy we use today were incomplete.
It was simple. Because most of the old language was lost, people used modern languages to interpret them, so one old language spell became hundreds of different spells, each with much less power.
Now, Kael was holding the real old language Potion Recipe, even if it was incomplete, it was still worth a lot.
"You don't understand at all," the red-robed man's red eyes flashed with a sharp look. He snatched the bone back and said, "You dared to trick me."
