Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: "Reasoning" with Fists

"Gentlemen, I apologize for the interruption, but the person you've captured is my friend, not the orc you speak of. We are from a distant countryside and were on our way to a big city, but we got lost in this forest. Since you're heading back to town, would you mind taking us with you? In exchange, I'll forgive what you just did to my friend."

Just as the adventurers were tying up the bruised and swollen Isao Yousuke, who was still trying to explain, and preparing to take him back to the city, Yecheng, who had been lurking nearby for a long time, finally stepped out.

From the banknotes and wallet that had fallen from Isao Yousuke, and the words he had just spoken, Yecheng knew that the other man was also a transmigrator from another world. The reason he had been hiding was to see what kind of power other transmigrators had besides himself.

However, to his disappointment, after squatting in the bushes for half a day, he found that the man named Isao Yousuke, while also a transmigrator, seemed to be a complete weakling in terms of strength...

"Huh? You say he's your friend, and he's your friend? Do you have any proof? I think you saw that we caught a rare talking orc and you're just trying to play a trick to steal him."

"That's right. Even if he is who you say he is, he's a war prize now that we've found and captured him. What's it to you, you country bumpkin from some rural area? If you have a problem with it, try your luck against us brothers."

Given Yecheng's appearance and good looks, he was definitely considered handsome even in this other world, so he wouldn't be mistaken for an orc like Isao Yousuke was.

However, the adventurers didn't seem to care about what Yecheng said, or rather, even if they did believe him, they had no intention of backing down. It was obvious. There were three of them and only one of Yecheng, and he was a bumpkin from the countryside with no background to speak of.

A rare talking orc could definitely be sold for a good price at the merchant guild. They didn't know Yecheng, so why should they give him face?

"It seems sometimes force is more effective than words in convincing people. Since you've made the request, I'll oblige."

Yecheng plunged the coarse bone knife at his waist into the ground in front of him, then charged toward the three men empty-handed.

Having wandered in Soul Society for many years, Yecheng was well-equipped to judge an opponent's strength. The three adventurers in front of him looked tall and well-equipped, but their actual strength was nothing special. They weren't even worthy of him drawing his sword; his bare-handed combat skills alone would be enough to bring them to tears.

"What an arrogant brat! Not using your weapon and trying to show off in front of me!"

"He's a country kid, alright, so ignorant. Does he think we're on the same level as those third-rate adventurers from his hometown?"

A few minutes later...

"Sir, we truly had no idea that this orc... I mean, this gentleman was your friend. We are willing to apologize for our actions just now. Also, here is all our property; please accept it as compensation for your mental distress."

"Sirs, you're heading to the city, right? We're willing to lead the way. We just beg you to show mercy and spare us."

Isao Yousuke watched the dramatic scene unfold before him, and he suddenly had a realization. He understood the principle that sometimes, relying solely on words to "reason" with people isn't enough.

The three adventurers, who had just been acting so arrogantly, were now performing a perfect dogeza (kneeling with one's forehead touching the ground) in a neat row, begging for mercy after Yecheng's "reasoning" with his fists.

They had previously called Yecheng a country bumpkin and himself an orc, but now their titles had changed to "sir" and "gentleman."

"Yousuke, according to what you said, you also received a power from the God of the Otherworld when you came here. Your ability should be a talent for communicating with creatures from other worlds. Didn't you notice that at first, those adventurers couldn't understand what you were saying, but later they could? They only mistook you for an orc because of your appearance."

As fellow transmigrators, Yecheng and Isao Yousuke, while not "compatriots" in the traditional sense, were kindred spirits. So they quickly began to communicate with each other.

"You're only 17!"

During their conversation, Yecheng was stunned to discover that the unremarkable-looking Isao Yousuke was only a 17-year-old boy!

"He looks like he's 30..."

"What about you, Yecheng? How old are you? You look about the same age as me... no, maybe even younger."

"Haha... I'm also around 17, that's right."

Yecheng could only reply with an embarrassed look at Isao Yousuke's question.

He had no choice but to be embarrassed. How old was Yecheng? From the time he lived in Soul Society alone, it had been several decades. If you add his previous life's age, he might have reached the triple-digit mark.

In other words, their situations were the opposite. Isao Yousuke appeared old but was a pure, innocent boy, while Yecheng appeared youthful but was already an old driver with many years of experience.

"Yecheng, how long have you been in this world? You seemed to beat those adventurers so easily before. Was it because you chose a powerful cheat at the start?"

Yousuke was also quite excited about transmigrating to another world. After all, as a gamer, this was a storyline that only appeared in novels and games.

But there was no harm in comparison. Compared to Yecheng's heavenly start, his own start was terrible, as he chose a cheat called The Universal Orator.

While communication is the basic condition for building trust, what had happened before had already made Yousuke realize that sometimes, even with a shared language, people may not be able to understand each other.

"Well, there are no useless abilities in this world; it just depends on how you use them. I didn't get any powerful combat ability from the God of the Otherworld. The power I received is probably the kind that protects me.

As for the strength I used to defeat those adventurers, it's something I trained on my own. Since you're also a modern transmigrator, you should understand that even in games, you don't start with a cheat and god-tier equipment.

If you did, beating the Demon King would be as easy as stomping on a weak enemy, and what fun would the game have then?"
