(KRYSTAL'S POV)
The corridor feels longer on the way back.
I keep checking on Rafa as we walk side by side, but he doesn't look at me once.
His eyes stay fixed straight ahead, his face completely blank. And he hasn't said a word since we left the exam room.
When we reach the lobby, he stops.
"I wanna sit down for a minute," he says, voice rough.
"Okay," I reply softly.
We move to the waiting area.
Rafa carefully lowers himself into one of the chairs and immediately rests his elbow on his knee, pressing his left hand over his face.
I sit beside him quietly, just watching him.
A few seconds pass then I start to hear it.
It's quiet at first. But the broken breaths become a little louder as his shoulders shake.
I shift closer and place my hand on his back, gently rubbing slow circles.
"Rafa…" I murmur. "Hey, It's okay."
He drops his hand, finally turning to look at me. My heart aches when I see the look on his face.
