Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: "Poverty and Hunger, All Due to Food"

It was an hour later when the team set off again.

Considering that the team couldn't reach the designated island location as planned, Outcast sent a report to Rhodes Island via communication, requesting a delayed return to the island. After that, the team's journey was no longer as rushed as initially scheduled.

Mainly, the sight of Kanna, who would nap for a bit after eating and then bounce around everywhere, was indeed unsettling.

Everyone was also curious if Kanna would have any problems after consuming so much.

However, the result was that when the second pot was ready and everyone started eating breakfast, after everyone had served themselves, Kanna scurried back to the big pot, drooling as she stared at the leftover food inside.

"Not full?" Misery asked, knowing the answer.

"Kanna is fine. Wasting food is worse than not being able to eat it all. So, so if there's any extra food, Kanna can help eat it!"

Just now, Kanna had discovered that the team's food, which was tastier and more nutritious, could provide her with more "power." That single meal had increased her "power" by a full 5%, which was what she usually gained from eating outside for several days.

However, she was worried about eating too much at once and then not having any for the following days, so she had stored a good amount of energy in her body for daily activity.

But upon seeing new food, her natural instinct to hoard food led her back to the cooking pot.

Misery's expression became somewhat complex after hearing her words.

In his opinion, someone who hadn't experienced hunger wouldn't say such things, and for a child so young to understand such a principle, she must have endured immense hardship.

He couldn't help but serve Kanna another portion, then crouched down and handed it to her. As she happily ate, he patted Kanna's head.

"Don't worry! From today on, you won't go hungry again."

Outcast, not far away, saw Misery's actions and a slight smile appeared at the corners of his mouth.

On Rhodes Island,

Kal'tsit frowned, holding the newly delivered report.

Outcast and Misery were among the few stationed Operators on the island whom she could dispatch for missions.

Both of them had lived up to her expectations, completing every mission flawlessly.

This time, they were leading a team for a routine safety inspection of the landship's navigation path, which should have presented no issues. Yet, for such a simple mission, Outcast sent back intelligence indicating a delayed return to the island.

Although the delay was less than half a day, with their combined combat strength, leading two full teams of Operators, a half-day delay in returning was already a very significant situation.

Therefore, the intelligence department quickly forwarded this information to Kal'tsit after receiving Outcast's request.

"The small team has successfully completed its reconnaissance and exploration mission. On the return journey, due to force majeure, a half-day delay in returning to the island is required. We hope the ship can reschedule the return process."

Looking at the intelligence Outcast sent back, even Kal'tsit, a professional riddle-speaker, was a bit bewildered.

What did "force majeure" mean?

A Calamity or an encounter with enemies?

Speaking of which, the two parties weren't too far apart. If there truly was a Calamity, her Calamity Messengers couldn't possibly have failed to detect it.

And if it were enemies, Outcast, even if unable to annihilate them, would only call for support.

Her side would naturally send people to assist; such "force majeure" in the documentation shouldn't appear.
