The ruby gleamed under the auction house lights as I secured it for one million dollars. Without Lorena and Cobb backing me, pulling off this purchase would have been impossible.
Having the Bailey family princess and the Zaid Group heir in my corner opened doors that stayed locked for most people. As their closest friend and Cobb's fiancée, I carried the kind of social currency everyone wanted to cash in on.
When the auction concluded, a staff member approached with the ruby nestled in its velvet case. Cobb casually flicked his car keys in my direction. "Toss it in my car for now."
Ivana's hand shot out before the keys could reach me, her fingers closing around the metal with practiced precision. "Let me handle that for you, Cobb," she purred, her voice dripping honey.
Lorena blocked her path instantly, fixing Ivana with a withering stare. "Those aren't yours to take."
