The legend has it that if you blow into a white seashell, a fairy will appear and grant you a wish. And if you blow twice — as long as your heart is pure — the old Fairy Lady herself shall appear and bestow upon you an unattempted wish. However, if that seashell is black, and your heart is likewise dark, then the Demon King shall appear, and woe and misfortune shall forever befall you.
Two hundred million years ago, a radiant meteor alighted on our planet, and with it a mysterious power came. Our ancestors named it the Miracle Stone, for it cured the unconquerable plagues of that age and rejuvenated the withered skin.
Since then, humankind has exploited its power to serve its needs in countless ways. Yet, toward the end of the Third Era, humans learned to wield that power — but in the wrong way. Endless wars and senseless bloodshed followed, culminating in the dreadful accident known as the Hellgate: a gigantic gate to Hell was summoned, where the abode of the Devil and his minions is — a fiery realm where hope is but a lost whisper among wretched souls. We called it the Beywond.
In those dark times, a group of devout souls arose — men and women who renounced violence and condemned the misuse of the Miracle Stone. To them, the Stone was a divine endowment, and the cataclysm, a divine retribution. They were the first to channel its power into sacred weapons that manifested as blades—called the Soul Blades.
But once again, mankind's greed prevailed. The Soul Blades, once symbols of divine will, became instruments of war and slaughter. From their ashes rose the Soul Order—the Chevaliers de l'Âme, holy knights who devoted their lives to serving the cause of God.
Today is a new era — one where those blades are still wielded, yet no longer just for war, but also for entertainment. What once brought ruin now brings applause, and what once decided fates now sparks cheers and excitement.
