Chapter 17 - Too strong

"Roar!"

The attack from the artillery shells clearly enraged the giant ape. It turned its body, no longer advancing slowly, but instead rushed towards the tank unit's hillside with exaggerated speed.

"Tank units, continue the attack! Sonic cannon, prepare to immobilize the target! Special Operations Forces, follow up! Deploy two bomber jets for missile support…"

At this moment, General Ross already felt a sense of unease.

Perhaps this giant ape was not as simple as he imagined, not just a gorilla magnified by an experiment.

The speed of the Saiyan giant ape running at full power was terrifying; it covered two kilometers in just a few leaps.

"Smash!"

The main battle tanks didn't even have time to aim for a second concentrated fire when the giant ape descended from the sky, its massive foot directly crushing two tanks.

With an angry roar, the giant ape clapped its hands together and slammed them onto the ground.

Not only were two more tanks destroyed, but the entire small hill where the tanks were located was also completely obliterated, burying all remaining tanks.

The giant ape was clearly not appeased by this and continued to pound the ground wildly, wiping out the entire tank unit.

At this point, the sonic cannon unit, specially designed for Hulk, had just arrived.

They immediately aimed at the giant ape and launched a powerful sonic attack.

The sonic cannon could not only immobilize the body but also cause internal damage to the enemy's body.

If it were an ordinary person, just one hit would shatter their internal organs, causing them to bleed from all seven orifices and die.

But clearly, such a powerful weapon was useless against the giant ape transformed from Goku, only making him more furious.

With an open mouth, the verbal attack that instantly killed Magneto erupted once more.

A terrifying pillar of energy light shot out, sweeping around like a laser as the giant ape turned its head.

All the sonic cannons were reduced to ashes, including the Special Operations Forces who were preparing to use various specialized high-tech weapons to ambush the giant ape.

At the same time, the ground collapsed again, creating a huge, deep circular pit.

"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Two bomber jets flew overhead, and several AGM-86 cruise missiles rained down from the sky, engulfing the giant ape in massive explosions.

However, what followed was a terrifying energy Impact that erupted again from the flames.

The bomber jets didn't even have time for a second strike and, like the sonic cannon unit below, vanished from the World.

The flames and dust dissipated, leaving behind only the terrifying giant ape, roaring at the moon, completely unharmed.

"Strong, too strong!"

Wolverine, hiding in the distance, was dumbfounded.

"Thud!"

Inside the command vehicle ten kilometers away, General Ross watched the battle results on the screen, and the walkie-talkie in his hand slowly slipped.

"F***, which bastard created this monster? I swear I'll shove his head up his ass!"

Meanwhile, high in the sky, inside a cloaked Quinjet.

Black Widow and Hawkeye exchanged glances, then decisively called Nick Fury.

"Director, things are not looking good!"

Upon receiving the video from Hawkeye, Nick Fury, who had been sitting in his chair, suddenly stood up.

He subconsciously touched the modified pager he always kept in his pocket, took a deep breath, and thought to himself:

"Not yet, not yet."

The threat of the giant ape was indeed terrifying, but fortunately, it was still over a hundred kilometers from Alamogordo.

It was located not far from the desert where the first atomic bomb was tested.

That location was very remote, allowing for the use of many high-power weapons that couldn't be used in a city.

Just as he was pondering how to deal with the giant ape's threat, his phone suddenly rang.

He looked at the caller ID and immediately pressed the answer button.

"Nick, come to my office."

"Are the members of the World Security Council causing trouble again?"

Nick Fury said sarcastically, but still left his office and walked towards the private elevator.

The person who called him was none other than the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and current Secretary of the World Security Council, Alexander Pierce.

He was also a comrade and close friend who shared his ideals.

His main role was usually to request funds from the World Security Council, which was composed of important leaders from various countries, to better assist him in expanding S.H.I.E.L.D.'s scale.

This was to monitor potential major disaster crises and supernatural events that could emerge and threaten Earth.

"No choice, with such a big incident, they will definitely demand an explanation," Pierce's helpless voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Alright, I'll be there soon."

Nick Fury saw that the elevator had reached the Security Council floor, hung up the call, and stepped inside.

"You fellow, you really don't come to visit me unless I seek you out."

In the Secretary's office, seeing Nick Fury enter, Pierce actively stepped forward and gave him a warm hug.

Nick Fury joked:

"Not really. If there's a nuclear war, I'll come to you, or when I don't have enough money."

Upon hearing this, Pierce immediately showed a helpless expression.

"Alright, the Council is very angry about that gorilla. Later, be careful with your tone and don't make them lose face too much."

"I understand, a bunch of useless bureaucrats. I won't stoop to their level."

Nick Fury nodded.

Pierce then pressed a button, and holographic images of the Council members immediately projected onto several chairs in the office.

"Director Fury, I want to know what's going on with that mutated gorilla?"

One of the Council members saw Nick Fury and immediately questioned him.

Nick Fury shook his head:

"It's still under investigation; it might be a scientist's experimental product."

"Under investigation, meaning you have no idea what's going on?"

Another Council member slammed his hand on the table.

"We invest so much money in you every year to help us deal with these dangers in advance, and you tell me you don't know!"

"Heh, if it weren't for you always restricting S.H.I.E.L.D.'s authority with various excuses…

…then I believe that before that gorilla appeared, my Agents would have already locked up the scientist who created him in a S.H.I.E.L.D. prison!"

Nick Fury snorted mockingly.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. is an organization established to handle World crises, not to rule the World. It must be supervised by us; this was determined before we invested funds!"

The Council members were not to be outdone:

"Any organization needs supervisors to prevent it from going astray. We are your supervisors.

If you don't want to be supervised by us, then don't expect us to continue investing funds, and don't expect the right to act conveniently in various countries!"

Nick Fury wanted to continue to retort but Pierce patted his shoulder, shaking his head to signal him to control his temper.

So, he had no choice but to forcibly control his emotions and replied:

"I will handle the matter of that gorilla, and regarding similar incidents in the future, I already have a targeted response plan.

That is the "Avengers Initiative" that I am about to submit to you."
