Sun Jing stood in front of the mirror in her room, running her fingers through her hair for what felt like the tenth time. It was rare for her to care this much about how she looked, but something about tonight made her pause longer than usual. Behind her, Asia and Issei sat comfortably on the bed, watching her with very different levels of investment.

She tilted her head slightly, gathering her hair in one hand before letting it fall again. "Asia, should I keep it like I normally do, or leave it down this time?"

Asia leaned forward, studying her carefully before giving a small, encouraging smile. She clasped her hands together as if she had already made up her mind. "I think you should leave it down. It makes you look softer... and really cute."

Sun Jing blinked at her reflection, then slowly brushed her bangs aside, revealing the faint scar near her forehead that she usually kept hidden. She stared at herself for a moment, as if trying to see what Asia saw. "You really think so?"

Issei shrugged from the bed, clearly less invested in the moment. "You look the same to me. Maybe just... a little more girly."

Sun Jing's eye twitched slightly as she shot him a flat look through the mirror. "You're not helping." She turned around and pointed toward the door. "Both of you, out. I need to change."

Asia quickly hopped off the bed, offering an apologetic smile as she followed Issei out. The door clicked shut behind them, leaving Sun Jing alone with the quiet of her room.

For a moment, she just stood there, exhaling softly before moving to her closet. She didn't overthink it too much after that. A simple black jacket, a clean white shirt, and fitted black pants.

Her hair rested naturally now, framing her face differently than usual. It was subtle, but noticeable enough. She adjusted her collar slightly and nodded to herself. "Yeah... this should be fine."

Later that evening, a black limo rolled to a stop in front of Aika's house.

Aika had been waiting outside, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, checking her phone every now and then. When the limo pulled up, her eyes widened slightly, and she instinctively adjusted her glasses.

The door opened, and Sun Jing stepped out, one hand holding a small bouquet of flowers. She looked... different. Not drastically, but enough that it caught attention.

She walked up to Aika at an easy pace, stopping just in front of her. "I'm not late, am I?" she asked, her tone casual as always, though there was a hint of something more thoughtful beneath it.

Aika stared for a second longer than she probably meant to before quickly recovering. A faint blush crept across her cheeks as she shook her head. "N-no, you're right on time."

Her eyes drifted to the flowers, then back to Sun Jing. "You... didn't have to bring those."

Aika hesitated for only a moment before taking them, her fingers brushing lightly against Sun Jing's. "Thank you," she said softly, her voice warmer now.

For a brief moment, neither of them spoke. The air felt lighter than usual, filled with quiet anticipation.

Sun Jing gestured toward the open limo door. "Ready to go? The fair's not going to wait for us."

Aika smiled, this time without hesitation. "Yeah... let's go."

---------------

The fair was alive with color and noise by the time Sun Jing and Aika arrived. Strings of glowing lights stretched overhead, casting a warm golden hue over the crowd. The air smelled like sugar, fried dough, and grilled food, while laughter and music blended into a constant, lively hum. Booths lined every path, each one brighter and louder than the last, and rides towered in the distance, spinning and flashing against the night sky.

Sun Jing took a slow look around, hands tucked into her jacket pockets as she observed everything with mild curiosity. "So this is the place you wanted to come to," she said. "It's... not bad."

Aika smiled, clearly more excited than she was letting on. "Right? I've always wanted to go, but never had the chance." She adjusted her glasses slightly, then glanced at Sun Jing. "I'm glad I came with you."

Sun Jing didn't respond right away, but the small shift in her expression made it clear she didn't mind hearing that.

Not too far away, however, four figures stood in what could only be described as painfully obvious disguises.

"I still don't see why we're here," Kiba muttered, adjusting the fake mustache attached to his face while dressed as an elderly man. "This feels like an invasion of privacy."

"Relax, pretty boy," Issei whispered, though his voice carried a little too loudly for someone supposedly undercover. He was also dressed as an older gentleman, complete with a ridiculous hat. "Rias told me to keep an eye on Sun Jing for some reason."

Asia, who was wearing an oversized hoodie and a pair of round glasses that didn't quite hide her identity, looked around with wide, sparkling eyes. "I've never been to a fair before..." she said softly, her gaze locking onto a brightly lit ride nearby. "Can we go on the merry-go-round?"

Koneko, walking slightly ahead of them with a box of popcorn in hand, didn't even bother lowering her voice. "If Rias liked Sun Jing that much, she could've just said something instead of sending us to spy on her."

Issei groaned dramatically, watching Sun Jing and Aika from a distance. "Ugh... that lucky bastard Sun. I'm so jealous. Why can't Rias go after me instead?"

"Because you're a pervert," Koneko replied flatly, not even looking back as she continued walking.

Meanwhile, completely unaware-or perhaps just unconcerned-Sun Jing and Aika had already started making their way deeper into the fair.

Aika stopped in front of a small game booth lined with plush prizes, her eyes lighting up slightly. "Oh... look at those," she said, pointing at a row of stuffed animals hanging overhead. "They're cute."

Sun Jing followed her gaze, then glanced at the game itself. It was simple enough-knock down a stack of bottles with a ball. She stepped forward without hesitation, pulling some cash from her pocket.

"Wait, you don't have to-" Aika started, but Sun Jing had already handed the money over.

"It's fine," she said casually, picking up one of the balls and weighing it in her hand. "If you want one, I'll get it."

She took a short breath, then threw.

The bottles were knocked clean off the stand in a single, clean hit.

The booth attendant blinked in surprise before awkwardly gesturing toward the prizes. "Uh... pick whichever one you want."

Sun Jing didn't even look at them for long before grabbing a small plush and handing it to Aika. "Here."

Aika accepted it happily. "Thank you..." she said.

Then, somewhere behind a nearby stall. "HOW DID SHE DO THAT IN ONE THROW?!" Issei whisper-shouted, immediately getting shushed by Kiba.

As Sun Jing and Aika continued walking through the fair, the blonde girl's eyes slowly narrowed. Even with all the noise and crowds around them, she could still sense four very familiar presences following behind them.

Honestly, the disguises were terrible.

She glanced over at Aika, who was currently deciding what drink she wanted from a nearby food stall, before letting out a quiet sigh. "I'll be right back," Sun Jing said.

"Hm? Okay," Aika replied.

The moment Sun Jing stepped away, she disappeared into the crowd. A second later, she appeared directly behind Issei and the others without making a sound.

"What the hell are you guys doing?" she asked flatly.

"GAH!" Issei nearly jumped out of his skin and whipped around so fast his fake mustache almost fell off. "How'd you find us out?!"

"Hi Sunny!" Asia greeted happily while eating an ice cream cone.

"It really wasn't that hard," Sun Jing replied while staring at all four of them. "You guys are awful at this. Hi, Asia."

Koneko let out a small sigh and removed her disguise first. "I knew this wasn't going to work."

Kiba awkwardly adjusted his fake beard before taking it off as well. "In our defense, this wasn't exactly my idea."

"Why'd you even follow me out here anyway?" Sun Jing asked.

"Well..." Issei rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Rias told me to keep an eye on you."

"And before you ask, she didn't tell us why," Kiba added.

Sun Jing stared at them silently for a moment before sighing again. "Whatever. Aika and I were leaving soon anyway."

Right on cue, Aika walked over carrying two drinks in her hands. She stopped when she saw the group standing there together.

"You know, Sun," Aika said while handing her soda over, "if you wanted to hang out with your friends, you could've just told me."

She adjusted her glasses slightly before looking at the others. "Are they the reason you've been so distracted tonight?"

"Uh, no," Sun Jing answered immediately. "We just randomly ran into each other."

Aika stared at them for a few seconds before letting out a soft laugh. "Right..."

There wasn't any real anger in her voice though. If anything, she looked more amused than upset.

"I've had a really fun time tonight," Aika said honestly. "But my parents are here to pick me up now."

Sun Jing blinked. "Oh... okay."

"I'll see you later," Aika said with a small smile.

"Yeah. See you later."

Aika gave one last wave before walking off toward the parking area outside the fairgrounds, leaving Sun Jing standing there with the others.

Kiba adjusted his fake glasses awkwardly before giving Sun Jing a small bow of apology. "Sorry for ruining your date."

"It's fine," Sun Jing said honestly. "I don't think it was really going anywhere anyway..."

Asia, who had been quietly listening to all of this while clinging to Sun Jing's arm, suddenly looked up with sparkling eyes. "Well, since we're already here... can we go on the Ferris wheel? I've never been on one before!"

Sun Jing glanced toward the massive ride slowly turning against the night sky. The glowing lights reflected in her magenta eyes for a brief moment before she shrugged.

"Sure," she said. "Might as well."
