ADRIAN POV
"I have eaten, taken my bath, done my assignment. Yeah, I'm done for the day." I laid on my bed mentally checking my to do list.
Staring at the ceiling waiting to drift into sleep. A life without friends might be quiet and boring, but to me it was not, I loved the quietness I feel, allowed to wonder in my thoughts without interference just like the knock resounding on my door.
I knew who was Avery, but I didn't answer but that didn't stop her from letting herself in.
"You where still awake and you didn't answer when I knocked." Avery complained making herself comfortable on my bed.
"What do you want?" I asked ignoring her complains.
"You know Ria is going to be away for the whole week?" She asked.
"And so?". I questioned.
"I want to have a sleep over with my friends on Friday." She said.
"So what's new? Why telling me. You have sleepover many times. As long as they don't invade my privacy, I'm okay." I told her. Avery always hold sleep over or something whenever Ria is away on a business trip.
"It is not going to be an all girls sleep over ". She said.
"And your point?" I asked staring into her dark brown eyes with my light brown eyes.
"Can we make use of your gaming room..." Her question didn't land when I sprout up from my bed in objection.
"No way. Not happening." I refused.
"Pretty please?" She pleaded but I was not giving in. My gaming room was my sanctuary. That's where all my time not thinking is spent and I'm not about to let a bunch of sweating teenagers violate it.
I was still thinking of standing my ground when she took out a book and showed me. It was a storybook titled, 'A little bit like me' by onyx, an unknown writer. God knows how much I searched for the book. Although I have read the online version of it. I just love reading the hard copies.
"So, can I use it?" Avery asked with a knowing smile.
I draged the book from her. "Do what ever you like but make sure you leave it the way you found it." I said to her, my focus on the book in my hand.
Avery jumped on me, raining kisses on my face. "Stop!" I said pushing her off me.
"Thanks, I promise to leave it just the way it was". She said smiling as she left.
I didn't bother to look at her. I began reading the book. It is a story about a young woman who dies and her soul occupies a body of a boy and then falls in love with the best friend who is a guy. The story talks about love despite the gender. Not like I understand it, I just love the author's choose of words.
*********************************
I didn't know when I slept off but Ria was already gone by the time I was ready for school. Ate my breakfast, and Avery and I took a cab to school.
Avery was welcomed by a bunch of her friends while I went on my way only to bump into the incoming person. Like there was a wide space available, why bump into me. I glared at the person only to see it was Brian which made my glare more intense.
"Whoa, easy on the glare." He said with a cheeky smile.
I ignored him and shoved him with my shoulder and walked away but I could still hear his laughter, and that little encounter was enough to ruin my day. This is why I don't do social stuff.
Soon, it was Friday night, I took a bunch of snack, drinks and water and other stuff I might need to my room so as to avoid coming out of my room and run into one of my sister's friends.
One by one her friends arrived and God knows how loud their voice is, that even with how good the rooms sounds proofing was I could still hear them.
A little late into the night, a soft knock sounded on my door, but I wasn't going to open it, cause I was sure it wasn't Avery. She won't knock softly like that.
"Adrian, are you awake?" A soft female voice asked and I knew immediately it was Lisa, Avery's quite and beautiful friend.
She was among the list of girls I had a crush on but I wasn't about to compromise my quietness to talk to a crush.
She knocked for sometime before the room regained it's silence but not for long as my door creaked open. Someone walked in quietly to where I laid on my couch. I closed my eyes pretending to be asleep, maybe the intruder will leave seeing that I was asleep, but no. The intruder came quietly beside me and squart beside me.
I felt the person brush away the hair on my face. And soon I could feel the person leaning close to my face. I will be a fool not to know their intention and I wasn't about to let someone steal a kiss from me.
I opened my eyes to come into contact with Lisa's startled ones. She immediately stepped back almost falling.
"I'm sorry, I... I knocked but you didn't respond, so..." She tried to explain but I cut her off.
"Then you should have left and not badged into my room." I said bluntly.
Obviously taken aback by what I said, her eyes reded up. "I like you, Adrian, I really like you" she said bashfully.
"And?" I questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Can we go out for a movie?" She asked.
Signing, I said; "Look Lisa, you are beautiful and nice but I'm not about to get involved in any complicated sh*t, so I advise you to stop likeing me."
Tears began to drop form her eyes looking all pitiful.
"Can you leave, please?" It was not that I was heatless, I know it takes courage to confess but I don't do emotions.
Lisa runout crying and it turned out she didn't close the door when she came in and Brian stood by the door. Only God knows how long his been there, not that I cared.
I stood up to go close the door ignoring Brian but he blocked the door and came in looking around my room.
"You know, I've been coming here with Avery for years now but this the first time coming into your room." He said smiling as he sat on my bed.
I left the door and walked close to where he sat looking down on him, "Get out!" I said ignoring what he said.
Bryan was tall, slim but not what you will call manly, while I , on the other hand, was taller than him and manlier so he had to look up at me from where he was seated.
Bryan expression turned a little serious, a expression you hardly see on the ever smiling Brian.
"Have been meaning to ask you why you don't like me?" He asked leaning back on my bed using his hand as support.
