Chapter 163 - Chapter 163: Awakening the Rinnegan

The destruction of Iwagakure sent shockwaves through everyone present. All the bickering from moments ago vanished instantly—no one dared to speak out of turn anymore.

After all, Akatsuki had wiped out one of the Five Great Ninja Villages as casually as flipping a hand. Combined with their past record of severely crippling Konoha, the implication was clear: if Akatsuki were to win the coming war, then no village—large or small—would survive.

More importantly, Tsunade had already made her stance unmistakably clear. This was a war concerning the survival of the entire shinobi world. Any village that dared to pretend to contribute while secretly holding back would be eliminated by her first—before the war even began—so that they wouldn't emerge afterward just to reap the benefits.

In short, under pressure from both opposing extremes, every village emptied its reserves and committed fully to this great shinobi war.

Vast quantities of military supplies began converging from all directions, while shinobi from every village assembled in force. At the same time, a reconnaissance division composed of elite sensor-type ninja was dispatched in advance, heading toward the locations provided by Uchiha Itachi to verify the exact position of the hundred thousand White Zetsu.

In the original timeline, the Fourth Great Ninja War had lasted only three to four days, making it seem almost trivial. But that was a misconception—it counted only the days of actual combat, not the time required for mobilization, logistics, supply transport, or camp construction. If all of that were included, even fourteen days wouldn't have been enough.

This time was no different.

Not only were the Five Great Villages involved, but numerous minor villages as well—along with bounty hunters from underground exchange networks. Coordinating such a massive force naturally demanded even more time.

Fortunately, each village had its own logistical experts—such as Nara Shikaku of Konoha, Mabui of Kumogakure, and others.

With these sharp minds working together, despite the overwhelming complexity, everything proceeded in orderly fashion. Gradually, a true Allied Shinobi Forces, uniting the entire ninja world, began to take shape.

Naturally, Akatsuki learned of the alliance's mobilization almost immediately.

Obito went to Nagato and relayed the intelligence.

Still appearing as the Deva Path of Pain, Nagato showed no surprise whatsoever.

"I anticipated this outcome the moment I decided to destroy Iwagakure," he said calmly. "Those villages may scheme against each other in peacetime, but once their survival is threatened, they will unite. That's a good thing. Only by letting everyone experience pain can true peace be born."

With that, Pain turned his gaze toward Obito.

"Madara—aren't you going to reveal your trump card now?"

"Of course," Obito replied. "The hundred thousand White Zetsu are already in position. At any moment, they can erupt from underground and launch a full-scale assault on the Allied Shinobi Forces. But they're merely expendable—cannon fodder meant to drain strength and buy time. Our real trump cards are the tailed beasts and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path."

Obito lifted his head, looking toward the massive Demonic Statue towering behind Pain.

At this point, Akatsuki had already abandoned the Land of Rain, relocating to a desolate wilderness instead.

The terrain here was naturally defensible, remote, and difficult to discover—perfect for delaying detection and buying time to seal more tailed beasts.

Nagato's objective was to seal eight tailed beasts and use their combined power to pressure Konoha into surrendering the Nine-Tails.

Obito, on the other hand, intended to gather all nine tailed beasts, resurrect the Ten-Tails, become its jinchūriki, and activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Still, before reaching that stage, both of them shared the same immediate goal: to severely cripple the Allied Shinobi Forces. Until that was accomplished, neither would turn against the other.

After finalizing the details of the war, Obito activated Kamui and vanished.

Konan stepped forward and stood beside Pain.

"That man is definitely hiding another scheme," she said quietly. "Nagato, you must be cautious. I've been thinking about what he truly wants all these years, and no matter how I look at it, there's only one answer."

She met Nagato's gaze directly.

"The Rinnegan?"

Nagato let out a soft chuckle. "If that's truly his goal, then I'll show him just how terrifying the power of a god can be."

His confidence was absolute.

Yet in truth, this so-called god was nothing more than a frog at the bottom of a well—a tool from beginning to end. He didn't even know that the Rinnegan he wielded wasn't his to begin with. He genuinely believed he had awakened it through his own power.

Compared to Nagato's limited perspective, Obito's vision was far broader. Though still a tool himself, he was at least a more sophisticated one.

After leaving Nagato, Obito arrived at the hiding place of the hundred thousand White Zetsu. Black Zetsu soon emerged at his side.

"Did you succeed?" Obito asked. "Did you capture Yakushi Kabuto?"

"Yes," Black Zetsu replied. "He was already severely wounded for some reason. Capturing him was easy. As for Orochimaru—there's still no trace of him. He's most likely dead. The culprit is almost certainly an Uchiha."

Obito let out a cold laugh.

"That was inevitable. Uchiha Rokuro used Orochimaru's research to discover a method for mass-producing Mangekyō Sharingan. Once that succeeded, Orochimaru became useless—and a liability. If I were in his place, I'd have killed him too. Looks like Orochimaru finally got what was coming to him."

Black Zetsu gestured casually. A nearby tree split open, and a half-dead Yakushi Kabuto tumbled out.

With prior experience controlling the Fourth Mizukage—and with this version of Kabuto never having transformed himself—Obito subdued him effortlessly with genjutsu.

"Treat him first," Obito ordered. "Once he recovers, have him summon Kinkaku and Ginkaku. If possible, summon additional powerful figures from past generations as well. We've only sealed up to the Four-Tails so far—there are still four left. We need at least half a month."

"Understood."

Black Zetsu grabbed Kabuto and disappeared.

Obito stared at the endless ranks of White Zetsu before him, his eyes burning with excitement.

"Just a little longer, Rin. Wait for me a bit longer. In just over half a month, I'll create a world without war or hatred—a truly happy world. We'll live together there… forever."

While Obito indulged in his dream, deep within Konoha's Uchiha district, after several days of relentless effort, the so-called "Second Pillar" finally completed the Uchiha genetic completion project and awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Not long after his awakening, the gravity-adjusting ninja tool Rokuro had given him successfully analyzed the molecular structure of Indra's chakra and transmitted the data back to Rokuro.

That device wasn't just a gravity regulator—it was also a chakra analyzer.

Rokuro had been preparing for this moment all along. The instant he received Indra's molecular data, he began the conversion.

If Asura's chakra represented the pinnacle of Yang Release, then Indra's chakra was the absolute extreme of Yin Release.

Yin and Yang united—creating all things.

Rokuro's eyes began to change color, ultimately transforming into a pair of pale-blue Rinnegan. His ocular power surged explosively.

Standing directly before him, Uchiha Izumi felt an overwhelming pressure and instinctively took a step back.

"So this is your Rinnegan…? That's terrifying. Does the leader of Akatsuki possess ocular power this strong?"

Over the past three years, Izumi had infiltrated the Land of Rain and even clashed with the Six Paths of Pain. Though neither side fought seriously, she had personally witnessed the power of the Rinnegan.

"Six Paths of Pain are strong," she continued, "but their ocular power is nowhere near yours. Is it because a puppet can't fully unleash the Rinnegan's potential? Does the real body—Nagato—possess power on your level?"

Rokuro continued adjusting to the changes in his body as he answered.

"Nagato does have stronger ocular power—but still inferior to mine. Because that Rinnegan was never his to begin with. It's merely something entrusted to him by someone else."

"What?! That Rinnegan belongs to someone else? Who—could it be…?"

Izumi instantly thought of Uchiha Madara, and suddenly everything made sense.

"But Rokuro… where did you even get all this information?"

Rokuro met her gaze and handed her the chakra analyzer.

"There are things you should know. But before that—go awaken your own Rinnegan."

Izumi trembled with excitement.

She had long sensed that Rokuro carried immense secrets, but since he never spoke of them, she eventually stopped asking.

This time, she had only mentioned it casually—yet he finally opened up.

Even so, awakening the Rinnegan took priority.

Gripping the analyzer, Izumi rushed into a secluded chamber to begin.

Rokuro, meanwhile, stood before a mirror, studying his own Rinnegan.

"It looks similar to Madara's. No tomoe… which means this isn't the final form."

After a brief sigh, he sat cross-legged on the floor and began to comprehend his own exclusive dōjutsu.

Every Rinnegan possessed a unique ability.

Madara had Limbo: Border Jail.

The Second Pillar had Amenotejikara.

Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's was likely Amenominaka.

As for the Sage of Six Paths—the original work never specified, but it was undoubtedly formidable.

Rokuro had his own as well. He had sensed it the instant his Rinnegan awakened.

This exclusive dōjutsu felt like instinct—something closer to divine authority than technique.

It required almost no learning curve.

As for when and how to use it—that could be refined later. Because Rokuro's ability was simple… and utterly tyrannical.

"Invincible" was the only word for it.

He unsealed a razor-sharp katana from a storage scroll and reached for it—then paused and laughed softly.

"How foolish. I've already awakened the Rinnegan—why would I still rely on external weapons? I can forge the strongest weapon myself."

He tossed the blade aside.

Raising his left hand, palm facing upward, the five elemental chakra natures converged in his palm. As they fused into a sphere, Yin–Yang Release joined in—

—and the sphere instantly turned pitch black.

"A Truth-Seeking Ball—finally completed! It's no longer that multicolored pseudo version. Hahaha!"

Rokuro reached out and grasped the Truth-Seeking Ball. At once, it shifted form, transforming into a pitch-black tachi.

Clutching the blade, Rokuro swung it down with full force toward his own right hand.

Boom!

A terrifying blade gale erupted, sending the furniture in the room rocking violently. Tables and chairs scraped across the floor with piercing screeches before slamming heavily into the walls.

With that level of power, even an ordinary sword would have been enough to cleave through a massive tree—let alone a tachi formed from a Truth-Seeking Ball.

An attack like that would have spelled certain death even for Senju Hashirama.

Yet Rokuro's right hand remained completely unscathed. There wasn't even the faintest mark on his skin.

"So it really is this ability," Rokuro muttered, deeply satisfied. "Looks like my obsession with spatial power—and all those ideas I picked up from reading countless manga—paid off again. With this dōjutsu, who in the world can still hurt me?"

In high spirits, Rokuro pressed the pendant at his neck.

A familiar BGM instantly began to play.

"♪ Invincibility is so~ so lonely~ ♪"

Yes—over the past few years, while researching the Six Paths inscriptions, Rokuro had also crafted quite a few… entertaining ninja tools. This MP3-like device was one of his many inventions.

From that moment on, Rokuro officially became a man who came with his own background music.

With the BGM playing, he continued to familiarize himself with his Rinnegan dōjutsu. About an hour later, Uchiha Izumi stepped out, her eyes now glowing with a soft pink Rinnegan.

"Rokuro! Rokuro! I awakened it too! And I even awakened the Rinnegan's exclusive dōjutsu! Do you have one as well?"

Rokuro nodded, then asked what her unique ability was.

"Hehe, my Rinnegan dōjutsu is incredible," Izumi said proudly. "If I had to sum it up in one word—invincible."

Rokuro's mouth twitched slightly.

"Really? Then why don't you use it and see if you can beat me?"

"Hmph! Then watch closely—Dreamlike Reality!"

Izumi's eyes snapped open. Rokuro saw a wave of energy spread outward, rapidly enveloping the entire room. She then casually waved her hand.

The damaged tables and chairs that had been smashed moments ago instantly returned to their original positions—restored as if they had never been touched.

"Another genjutsu?" Rokuro frowned.

"Hehe—can't you tell whether it's genjutsu or not?"

Rokuro sensed his own chakra and indeed found an external force influencing it. However, as a fellow Rinnegan wielder, his chakra reserves now exceeded even those of a tailed beast. In terms of sheer quantity alone, he was already approaching a fully transformed Nine-Tails.

On top of that, his chakra was Six Paths–level in quality.

Ordinary genjutsu was nothing more than a mild inconvenience to him.

To get a clearer sense of Izumi's dōjutsu, Rokuro layered Sage Mode atop his Six Paths chakra.

Dark markings appeared around his eyes, and the quality of his chakra surged once more. Under such conditions, genjutsu should have been completely incapable of affecting him.

After doing all this, Rokuro turned back toward the tables and chairs—

and froze.

They were still perfectly intact.

"How is this possible? Don't tell me… I'm already under genjutsu?"

Rokuro was genuinely shocked.

Even Infinite Tsukuyomi couldn't affect the Second Pillar once the Rinnegan was activated. He could even block its light with Susanoo's wings, protecting Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and the others.

In other words, as long as one possessed the Rinnegan, no matter how powerful a genjutsu was, it should be completely ineffective.

This was precisely why, in the later stages of the story, genjutsu became utterly obsolete—useful only for bullying fodder.

All those once-feared genjutsu masters were dragged off their pedestals, to the point where even Amaterasu seemed more practical—at least it could still be used to melt ice.

"So?" Izumi asked with a grin. "Shocked?"

"What exactly is going on here?" Rokuro asked eagerly. "Can your dōjutsu really affect Six Paths–level beings? That would be insane!"

Just as his anticipation peaked, Izumi shook her head.

"I once hoped that too. But now I'm certain—Dreamlike Reality can't actually place you under genjutsu. If all Rinnegan users are like you, then genjutsu really is useless."

"Then what's happening right now?"

Izumi chuckled.

"Did you forget the name of my technique? Dreamlike Reality. It's both genjutsu and reality manipulation. Even against Six Paths–level opponents, I can use it to construct a battlefield that favors me. Anyone who fights me within this space will be restricted at every turn, while I remain undefeated. That's why I call it invincible."

Hearing her explanation, Rokuro immediately thought of an ability from another manga.

"…Isn't this basically Domain Expansion from Jujutsu Kaisen?"
