Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: Infinite Void

Domain Expansion creates a space most favorable to the user, forcibly drawing the enemy into that space to fight.

Generally speaking, those who specialize in flames create magma domains; those who wield ice create frozen realms—and so on.

But Uchiha Izumi went a step further. Not only could she create a space advantageous to herself, everything within that space could become her weapon.

"Rokuro, feel the power of this technique!"

Izumi snapped her fingers. Instantly, the furniture in the room lifted into the air and shot toward Rokuro.

Rokuro formed a Fire Release hand seal and blasted forward.

Boom!

The tables and chairs were blown to pieces, yet the surging flames abruptly reversed direction and roared back at him. Rokuro leapt backward, shattered the window with a kick, and jumped outside.

He thought escaping the room meant leaving Izumi's range—only to discover the world outside had transformed into a vast desert. This was no longer Konoha at all.

Rokuro turned around.

Uchiha Izumi was five hundred meters away.

"So wide-ranging?" Rokuro muttered. "But what does it matter? This is still just a domain-like subspace. As long as it's space, it can be cut."

A Dimensional Blade appeared in his hand. With a casual slash to the side, a spatial rift instantly opened.

Before Rokuro could step into it, the rift sealed itself shut.

"Haha, it's useless, Rokuro," Izumi laughed from afar. "The space created by Dreamlike Reality is completely under my control—including the space itself. Your Dimensional Blade can cut space, sure, but as long as I want to, I can repair it instantly. In the end, it comes down to attrition—and I won't give you endless chances to keep cutting. Take this!"

Izumi stomped lightly. The yellow sand beneath her feet surged upward, forming a colossal wave—like Gaara's Sand Tsunami—and crashed toward Rokuro from all directions.

At the same time, the sand beneath Rokuro's feet transformed into monstrous serpents, coiling tightly around his legs.

He broke free in less than half a second.

But the sky-filling sand had already come crashing down.

Boom!

Rokuro was buried beneath the sand and vanished from sight. Izumi waved her hand, dispersing the sand—revealing a black sphere.

As she approached, the sphere cracked open, and Rokuro flew out from within.

"That's it?" Rokuro said with clear disappointment. "You can't even break through a Truth-Seeking Ball?"

In battles on the level of gods, whether one could break a Truth-Seeking Ball's defense was a crucial dividing line. If you couldn't, it meant your destructive power was inferior even to Might Guy.

Might Guy had some effect against Madara in his show-off phase—but against Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, it was utterly useless. It might not even land a hit.

"Hmph. I already told you—within this space, I control everything. Including the Truth-Seeking Ball."

"Oh? Then let's try it."

Rokuro raised his hand. The Truth-Seeking Ball transformed back into a sphere, enveloping him and forming an absolute defense even stronger than Susanoo.

But the instant the sphere formed, a hole opened at its center.

Rokuro froze—then immediately realized what had happened.

The Truth-Seeking Ball hadn't been pierced.

The space itself had expanded, forcing the sphere apart.

"Now do you understand?" Izumi said calmly. "If I can repair torn space, then naturally I can also control its size and shape. If I want, I can directly manipulate the space you're in and twist you into a pretzel."

She flicked her fingers.

At once, Rokuro felt the space around him begin to warp—and with it, his own body distorted as well.

"This feels a lot like Obito's Kamui," Rokuro said, unfazed. "But it activates faster, covers a much wider range, and leaves no room to dodge. Izumi… your technique really is terrifying. No wonder you dare call it invincible."

Izumi stopped twisting the space and raised an eyebrow.

"What? Still not convinced?" she teased. "By the way—what's your exclusive dōjutsu? That confidence of yours must come from it. Show me."

Rokuro nodded slightly. He didn't move from his spot—only beckoned to Izumi with a finger.

"My technique doesn't have much offensive power. It's purely defensive. Try again."

"A defensive skill? Stronger than the Truth-Seeking Ball just now?"

Without hesitation, Izumi summoned a rain of flaming meteors and hurled them at Rokuro.

He neither dodged nor blocked. In fact, he didn't seem to do anything at all.

Just as Izumi thought Rokuro had overplayed his hand, she suddenly noticed something wrong.

The fire meteors stopped just before reaching his body.

"Huh? What's going on? Frozen in place?"

Izumi raised her left hand. A two-meter-long ice spear formed above her palm. With a flick of her fingers, it shot toward Rokuro.

Boom!

A parasol-shaped shockwave formed around the spear as its speed instantly broke the sound barrier.

Yet this high-speed strike halted abruptly half a meter from Rokuro—no deceleration, no transition—like a paused frame.

"Another space-type dōjutsu?" Izumi snorted. "That won't work on me."

She activated her spatial control, attempting to forcibly dismantle Rokuro's defense—

and quickly realized she couldn't.

"This is…"

She stepped forward, appearing instantly before Rokuro, and carefully examined the halted fire meteors and ice spear.

"When I was far away, I didn't notice. But up close… they aren't frozen. They're just moving so slowly that they look stopped."

Rokuro chuckled.

"Izumi, they're not slow at all. Look more carefully."

"Not slow?"

Izumi scrutinized them again, even using Dreamlike Reality's control to sense the space itself. After a moment, realization dawned.

"Your technique is spatial folding, isn't it?" she said slowly. "It looks like you're protecting yourself with spatial power, but in reality, you've folded countless vast spaces onto the surface of your body. Anything that tries to attack you has to cross all of those spaces first."

"No wonder—even though I can control the space here, I can't tear open your defense."

"You can tear through it," Rokuro replied calmly. "But I can fold far too many layers. Tear through one, there are ten more. Tear through ten, there are a hundred more. As long as my dōjutsu power isn't exhausted, you'll never finish tearing them apart."

"The same goes for any attack. To hit me, it must cross those countless spaces."

"Even techniques like the Dimensional Blade, which can cut space itself, can only slice through one layer at a time. They still can't hurt me in a single strike."

"This is my Rinnegan's exclusive dōjutsu—Infinite Void."

After hearing his explanation, Izumi let out a long sigh and dispelled Dreamlike Reality.

Only then did Rokuro realize that from beginning to end, they had never left the room at all—there had been no desert.

"Real and fake, illusion and truth," Rokuro mused. "It really lives up to the name Dreamlike Reality."

Izumi shot him an annoyed glare.

"That's only because I can't deal with your Infinite Void," she huffed. "Why do you always have to be one step ahead of me? It's infuriating!"

Rokuro smiled and gently patted her head.

"Don't be angry. Infinite Void is just a passive defensive ability. In terms of pure offense, your Dreamlike Reality is far stronger."

"By the way—if you suddenly switched to a completely different space, would your technique still work?"

"A different space? Impossible," Izumi replied confidently. "As long as I don't Dreamlike Reality, no one can escape with spatial power. You already tested that, didn't you?"

"That's not what I mean," Rokuro said. "What if someone could instantly replace the entire space, with no warning at all—so fast that even you couldn't stop it? Would your technique still activate in time?"

"Instant spatial replacement?" Izumi frowned. "Is that even possible?"

Though she wasn't a pure space-type specialist, Dreamlike Reality involved spatial control, so her understanding ran deep. She knew exactly how difficult spatial transfer was—whether it was Flying Thunder God, Kamui, or the Dimensional Blade.

Strictly speaking, all of them relied on focusing power at a single point to break through—using one's strengths to exploit a weakness. None were true, head-on spatial replacement.

But replacing an entire space outright meant a full spatial confrontation. The energy cost would be astronomical—far beyond techniques like the Dimensional Blade.

"Forget who can do it," Rokuro said. "If someone could—and could do it repeatedly—would Dreamlike Reality still counter it?"

Izumi shook her head.

"Dreamlike Reality activates quickly, but every time I create it from nothing, it consumes an enormous amount of dōjutsu power. Maintaining it afterward is easier, but if I faced that kind of spatial conversion… I'd be helpless."

"At most, I could use Dreamlike Reality twice in succession. A third time, and I'd be completely spent."

Hearing this, Rokuro immediately understood.

Izumi's technique couldn't counter Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's Amenominaka.

That ability was almost certainly Kaguya's Rinnegan dōjutsu. In the original story, it activated instantly, without any warning—and there was no technique capable of stopping it.

If not for the author forcibly nerfing Kaguya, she could have simply used Amenominaka to transfer everyone into the acid dimension.

Kaguya possessed an immortal body. Even acid couldn't kill her—she would regenerate instantly.

But Naruto and Sasuke wouldn't survive that.

Neither would Kakashi, Sakura, or the others.

In an acid dimension, they'd last only a few seconds before being dissolved into nothing—a guaranteed kill far more terrifying than All-Killing Ash Bones.

Unfortunately, the forced nerf meant she never used it properly. By the time Boruto came around, random Ōtsutsuki were suddenly declared stronger than Kaguya, making the strongest character in Naruto feel embarrassingly sidelined.

"In the original story, Kaguya used Amenominaka more than three times—far more," Rokuro thought. "That means Izumi's Dreamlike Reality isn't enough. In the end, I'll still be the one who has to turn the tide."

"What are you talking about?" Izumi asked suspiciously. "What's Amenominaka? And who's Kaguya?"

She leaned in close, eyes wide in a dramatic, interrogative stare.

"Kaguya's full name is Ōtsutsuki Kaguya," Rokuro said seriously. "She's very likely the strongest enemy we'll ever face."

"Ōtsutsuki?" Izumi blinked. "You mentioned before that the Sage of Six Paths was called Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo, right? Then those two are…"

"That's right. The Sage of Six Paths was Kaguya's son. She also had another son—Ōtsutsuki Hamura."

"And Asura and Indra were Hagoromo's sons—meaning they were Kaguya's grandsons."

"There's more," Rokuro continued. "Our clan's great predecessors—Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama—were the reincarnations of Indra and Asura."

"And in this era, their reincarnations are Sasuke and Naruto."

Izumi's mouth fell open, her face frozen in shock.

"Wait—wait—wait. You're dropping way too many bombshells at once. My brain can't keep up…"

"So you're saying… Naruto and Sasuke are, theoretically, the Sage of Six Paths' sons?"

Rokuro nodded slightly.

"You can understand it that way. At the very least, from the Sage of Six Paths' perspective, he would certainly regard the two of them as his sons. Oh—there's one more thing. That Black Zetsu from the Akatsuki? He's actually Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's third child—the Sage of Six Paths' younger brother. He was created by Kaguya before her sealing, using Yin–Yang Release. He's immortal and indestructible, and he's already lived for over a thousand years."

"…Huh?"

Amid Uchiha Izumi's stunned expression, Rokuro recounted everything he knew about the history of the ninja world. Izumi listened in complete silence, so shocked that she couldn't utter a single word.

Only after Rokuro finished did she finally speak.

"So… in order to resist the possible arrival of other Ōtsutsuki clan members, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was forced to sacrifice part of the ninja world's population to create creatures like the White Zetsu, using them as weapons of war. But the Sage of Six Paths and his brother couldn't understand their mother, so they rose up against her and sealed her inside the moon?"

"Yes. And there's also an unofficial account—according to it, the reason the Sage of Six Paths turned against his mother was because his lover was absorbed by the God Tree and turned into a White Zetsu, causing him to completely lose control. Of course, that's just apocryphal history. It may not be true."

Uchiha Izumi's expression darkened.

"If all of this is true, then aren't the Sage of Six Paths and his brother just two massive idiots?"

"Oh?" Rokuro raised an eyebrow. "You think they were wrong?"

"Of course they were wrong!" Izumi snapped. "Without fully understanding the truth, they attacked their own mother. That's not just stupid—it's unfilial! Couldn't they have at least talked to Kaguya properly? Asked her why she was doing something so cruel?"

Rokuro hadn't expected Izumi to take Kaguya's side.

"So you think Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was right?"

Izumi shot him an annoyed look.

"When did I ever say she was right? I'm just saying the Sage of Six Paths and his brother were stupid and unfilial. But Kaguya had her own problems too. She split off part of her chakra to create the two of them—so aside from wanting to be a mother, she clearly intended them to become her allies. If that was the case, why didn't she make everything clear? Why not sit down together as a mother and sons and properly discuss a solution?"

"In my opinion, it was the complete failure of communication between those three that led to a thousand years of conflict in the ninja world. It's just absurd."

Rokuro laughed loudly. After all these years of guidance, it seemed he had finally succeeded in raising Izumi well.

Compared to Naruto and Sasuke in the original story, Uchiha Izumi was clearly far superior in both personality and critical thinking.

"That aside… is all of this really true? Rokuro, how do you know about things from a thousand years ago?"

Rokuro let out a quiet sigh.

"Izumi… I actually suspect that I'm not from this world at all."
