As my words fell on his ears, it didn't take a genius to understand that the question I just asked was something that could be considered a grave secret, a question that shouldn't be asked .
But still I was very curious to know what his answer was, I was beginning to feel that we both shared a lot of similarities to one another, but I felt that our opinions on this particular matter might differ greatly from one another, so I couldn't help but wanting to hear his answer .
The moment the question was asked, his eyes squinted at me and for a second there, I felt his killing intent even began to assault me, I felt a bit uncomfortable being stared at like this, the scene turned from a bit harmonious to sternly still and quite, thinking that I might indeed have overstepped my boundaries with this question and noting from his stern reaction that he didn't seem to like talking about this much .
I was actually about to apologize for asking this question, but surprisingly after he kept staring at me for a while, he shook his head making me stop with apologizing to him, he then said :
What do you think my opinions on the matters between the family and the military are ? .
He sent the question back in my way, I was a bit startle by him asking me to give an opinion about his own opinions on this matter, it was a surprise to me because I thought that he might get angry or stop talking to me at all or even end up giving me a vague answer as always, but he actually asked for my opinion, so I who hadn't a clue about his situation neither expected his reaction couldn't help but be startled .
Seeing him looking at me with a serious face, I was able to tell that he wasn't joking or playing around, so I fell into thought and began to think deeply about what he was exactly asking of me, after a few minutes, I too shook my head and gave my answer, saying :
" Neither, I believe that you don't side with neither of them .
He fell silent and didn't reply, he kept shifting from one place to another using his eyes, I understood what he was trying to say after opening my Spatial Eyes and looking into the places he looked at before with his eyes, these places were loaded with cameras and microphone, meaning that someone was currently listening and watching to what was currently taking place in here .
That was the reason he fell silent, but after a few seconds of silent, he surprisingly gave me an answer, he said :
I'm siding with the family .
He didn't mean a single word from what he just said, he was just giving me a clue and probably remove some of the suspicions regarding to his situation inside the family, yes the people who were currently supervising us were the Yotsuba Family members, I wouldn't be even surprised if those who are watching were high-level members of the family, or even the family head herself .
But I didn't like this one bit, a bit of radiation released from me was enough to kill all those cameras off and damage all these microphones, he sensing what I did, didn't comment much about it, but I saw him sizing me up and down with curiosity on his eyes, then after a few more seconds passing, he began to say :
As for your question from before, the answer you gave was indeed correct to a certain degree but also wrong .
I thought he was trying to be vague about it, but I thought wrong, he soon actually continued to say :
I in fact support both sides equally while also disagreeing with what they both present, I can see that sometimes there will be actions those two sides will task me with, those actions seemed to be quite rational, so I don't have any problem with execution them and even if I have for the most part, I will do everything to achieve the targeted result .
But for an instance, when one of the two sides task me with something that might affect the other side directly or indirectly, I'm given the choice to refuse, I also benefit from keeping such a relationship with both parties .
Like you, I too was offered a deal to keep everything I do and does under check, but unlike you, the offers were from both parties, I don't agree with neither of them, but I also in no position to criticize their actions or beliefs and I wouldn't even try to get close to such a touchy situation, now did this give you an answer to your question .
It did, I nodded at his question and began to process what he was telling me, he didn't address why was he doing this and I already had a guess on mind even though I still hadn't completely understood the in and out of his situation, I was once again sure that he was indeed in a similar situation to mine, or his might be even worse than me, so there was no need to question his motives on joining the army .
Seeing me fell into thought, he continued to say :
What do you think both of the two sides thinking regarding the subject we discussed back in the town earlier ? .
Hearing him asking me this, I stopped contemplating on what he said before and focused more on what he was asking me, I thought for a while regarding his question and then gave my answer, saying :
" I believe that both parties actually want to deal with magicians in a similar fashion to each other, both do have the intention of using magicians as weapon, the way of how they achieve this target is what differ slightly from one another .
He nodded his head at me, then asked benting a bit forward in his chair, he said :
Do you have an idea about how each of the two parties want to achieve this, then ? .
I nodded my head at his question, as I do indeed have an idea about how both parties were aiming to achieve this, seeing that he seemed to be interested in hearing my answer, I said :
" I believe that the two parties were in a competing relationship with one another, that competition was what lead the two of them to fall with one another, that competition was also what was fueling the problem between the two .
I said this and saw that he again nodded and began indulging himself in the conversation with me saying :
Your observation was indeed correct, if some of the Ten Master Clans didn't want to compete with the military for authority and influence, then the military might have not want to interfere with the Ten Master Clans either, I believe you already know what I'm talking about.... .
Hearing what he said, I couldn't help but nod then shake my head at him midway his speaking, which made him pause from saying what was he about to continue saying, I then said :
" Even though, there were a lot of things that I have no knowledge about, I do actually believe that the people in military especially those at the higher positions of authority and power, those were the ones who provoked the anger of the strong magic families, who might not be holding the same amount of authority, but they held power in their hands enough to even the odds or even make their situation a bit superior .
I saw that he wasn't nodding at me, he was deeply in thought, contemplating about something in my words perhaps, but soon he wake up from his trance and nodded at me and stayed silent as if indicating that he still want to hear me talking, I continued to say :
" The problem didn't lay on who was the one that provoked the other, it was more of a result and consequence of the military wanting to achieve his military superiority without giving much credit to the Magical families, the military won't be able to prove that superiority unless he brought the influence and the power those families have under his control .
" Even though, I do believe that the military had some right to do so, in consideration of the fact that leaving these families holding that much power without something to act as a deterrence to them using the power they have against the country, which might result in catastrophic results, but it was the way in which the military tried to use to do this, that way was what made the Magical Families began to become wary of the military, that was why they felt threatened and that was also why they started to compete with the military .
" They were driven into a corner and they decided to fight back, I actually don't see any problem with them deciding to do so, if I were to be in their position or a situation similar, reason and logic would mean nothing to me as surviving .
I looked at him after finish saying these words and for the first time since I had met him, I saw such a deep confused and bewildered expression on his face, he was looking at me as if he wasn't recognizing what were we having a conversation about currently, he said :
But there was also the fact which you have mentioned earlier about how much power was in the hands of those families, that what drove the military to react in such a way that throw the two into a competition with one another, which shouldn't be happening if the Magical Families weren't indeed trying to challenge the military and compete with it .
" Yes, I totally agree with that point, but I also don't blame the Magical Families with their try to fight back, it might be not suitable to be used as an example, but I feel that my situation was a bit similar to how the Magical Families perceive what was the military doing, I too was a manufactured product made inside a lab .
" I should have stayed there for the rest of my life listening to the orders and instructions of the researchers there without asking questions, but I was lucky enough to have a consciousness, me developing a consciousness didn't help me much at first in deciding what I wanted to do with my life and the reason was because they built me that way, I didn't have much of emotions regarding what was being asked of me and regarding my own state of life .
" But that changed when I finally discovered emotions, goals, dreams, even experiencing nightmares, all these new things made me think that I didn't want to act as they wanted me to, I wanted to be free, but I knew that this wasn't a possible request I can make, at least if I were to ask that is, but instead of asking why not just take my freedom back, it was mine and mine alone after all, they stripping me out of it, didn't mean that they can have it without me wanting them to have it, or else that will be completely unjust .
" I believe that the military situation was very much similar to my own situation, the military had every right to try and submit all the forces that didn't want to comply with his orders, that was the final say, otherwise punishment will indue .
" But that punishment can only be impose on those who didn't want to comply, not at those who are willing to comply, but they wanted some leniency in return, the military wanting to use Magicians as a weapons capable of causing mass destruction on the battlefield and achieve victories or keeping the country safe from the other external dangers and things like that .
" But before those Magicians are soldiers or as the military probably preferred to label them as weapons, all those guys were people with flesh and blood and feeling like any other person, they were alive, they had their own aspirations as well, them being as weapons was something, but them being depraved from even their basic rights, in for an example choosing not to join the military, not showing up when the military need them, able to start a family, able to safekeep this family from having to go through what they went through, all these things were basic human rights, I believe .
" So I'm blaming the guys who built this bad system for how those Magical Families reacted, they were the number one reason to why the Magical Families had decided to retort using their family members as weapons as well, that system was designed with that possibility in mind, it was created to gave credit to those who didn't deserve it in time of success and flourish, it was also decided to grant those who wish to criticize the magic society, the perfect opportunity to do so .
" So I totally agree that it was dangerous to leave that much power in the hands of the Magical Families, but there were a lot better ways to use for asking them to hand it over and there was no need to do so, if the Magical Families were cooperative already and they weren't posing much of a threat towards the country and its people .
" But the military deciding to follow the orders of the higher-ups, ended in giving those families a threatening and unnerving feeling towards the relationship between them and the military, the military is more to blame at how things had become, if they were wise with dealing with the Magical Families, this competition over power and influence wouldn't have been allowed to appear, I really believe that the military as well was the reason organization like Blanche appeared .
For some reason even though I didn't care much about the situation between the Magical Families and the Military, I couldn't help but gave my truthful opinion on that matter, I won't deny that I got a bit excited there, but I guess it reminded me of my own situation allowing some of the already built frustration to be finally released, so it ended like this, as I finished saying all of this, I couldn't help but notice that the guy Tatsyua seemed to be somewhat lost .
I let him be for the moment, I did say a lot of big words that needed some time to be processed and digested, some were even quite threatening words, but that was how I truthfully thought about all of this, I didn't need to say it out loud for him to grasp who I was supporting .
I'm more inclined towards the Magical Families side, but I'm also against using my magic against anything that might intentionally threaten people lives, as I was thinking like that, the small screen in front of the pilot seat began to beam then rang a few times .
I didn't understand what was going on, but the ringing woke up the guy next to me and he said :
We have arrived .
