The moment those words left my mouth, the silence that engulfed the scene right after was a bit too loud .
She was momentarily stunned of what I was trying to imply, then the air surrounding me began to become heavy again, then suddenly, I sensed the that she had actually activated her magic, no it was more accurate to say that I had seen it with my own eyes .
A starry background suddenly appeared behind her with numerous twinkling like stars, all pulsing with so much energy, then those stars suddenly began to be directed at me, even though my eyes allowed me to store the sequence with the help of infinity, it didn't mean that I can negate the activation .
I could have used the jamming sequence that I got from the Antinte and due to my ability to influence Psions, I might have been able to deal with this attack without much of an issue, but I didn't do this, instead I used Black Hole superpower and made it swallow the whole starry background, I allowed it to swallow the magical sequence and the Psions that were still trying to affect the Eidos, forcing the magic to dissipate and cutting her connection with it .
She got up from her chair and looked at me coldly as she now was no longer able to either invoke the magical ritual or even get back with the Psions she spent, unable to even invoke another magical ritual, crippling her ability to cast anymore spells, after all, the spell she invoked hadn't still disappeared .
Her reaction was a bit severe, I saw that her hand under the desk was reaching for a button, she hadn't pushed it yet, but I sensed that another shady move and she will do, I not wanting to create much chaos for her nor myself, I let go of the captured magical sequence and the Psions I captured earlier, allowing the woman in front of me to regain her strength again .
But this time she didn't attack me and instead, she just sat on her chair resting her head on her hands, but she was still looking at me coldly .
For a woman like her, known for her strength to be losing all the ability to resist and in the first exchange as well, must have delt quite the severe blow to her confidence and ego, I didn't do it just for the sake of competing with her, I did so to show that I had enough strength to back my words from earlier, her expression told me that she understood or at least began to suspect that my words might indeed be close to the truth, but even so, I still said :
" Do you believe me more now ? .
She didn't reply and got up from the desk of her and came to set in the couch before me and said :
Before, you said that you might have a way to remove the thing interfering with my emotions that is in my Magic Calculation Area, can you really do it ? .
She suddenly changed the whole subject and asked me this, making me become completely baffled, but seeing her expression, I already understood that she wasn't asking me to do it, she was just confirming that I can do it, seeing that there was no reason to continue dwelling on what happened before, I nodded my head looking straight into her eyes, they were similar to mine at least with the optical illusion that I put on them to appear normal, they're purple like amethyst in color .
Seeing me nodding, she said directly :
Then can you do remove it now ? .
" I can, but let me ask this first, do you really want it to be released, or are you just trying to force me into submitting through this method, do you really want it gone, or were you just trying to bind me to the family through using this method ? .
She was nonchalant about my question, unresponsive, she just kept staring at me calmly, but this was already in fact an answer, her silence was the answer that should have allowed me to be set free and I could have been successful in relaying the message I came her to deliver, so I now could be said to have nothing to do with this family anymore .
But even so, as I looked at the troubled, cold woman's eyes in front of me, I couldn't bring myself to leave just yet for some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to, I still wanted to talk to her more, I wanted to know what her thoughts about me, her real thoughts, I wanted to heal the scares that I might unknowingly have caused and reopened by appearing here, I wanted her to acknowledge my existence and yearned for her to embrace it and me as well .
She kept just staring at me without uttering a word, then she once again shifted the topic of conversation, something that I kept having trouble with, she said in a more compassionate tone, in some sense :
I heard that you had quite the serious conversation with Tatsyua-san earlier, care to tell me about those thoughts of yours .
" So you were eavesdropping on our conversation ? .
My words seemed to catch her off guard, but she just nodded and pointed at the desk in front of us and continued to say in a natural tone :
If that what you wanted to call it, then it's fine, I didn't only listen to everything you said, I also have watched you through special lenses on Tatsyua-san's face, your apperance really shocked me, but I guess that was to be expected when you were created to be a flawless sample .
After she finished saying this, she only kept staring at me without saying anything more about this, she was waiting for me to respond to her question, now .
I didn't know why, but her words about being created in a lab, stung me a little, but at least one of my confusions was cleared up, I really wondered if she wasn't surprised by my looks at all, but this didn't seem the case, she had just got accustomed to it and probably she didn't feel much about it due to my unique situation, her last words were confirming this .
Seeing her waiting for my response, I didn't even know where to start, or what to say exactly, my conversation with Tatsyua started with a simple, but a profound question about which side I will stand in if a conflict were to arise between the Magical Families and the Military, then I began to talk more and more while Tatsyua listened silently, so she most likely have heard of all that I have to say, so with their any point in repeating myself all over again .
" Didn't you hear all about my thoughts on the plane ? .
I did, but I like to hear it directly from your mouth, I wanted to know why you still came here, even though, the message you had gotten before should have told you that your request of a contract that granted your freedom in doing what you want was approved of .
I wasn't the least bit surprised about her knowing about my affairs with the army, but I was shocked that she knew that they actually accepted and from the looks of it, she really didn't seem to care much about it, so I couldn't help but ask :
" You really don't seem bothered by this at all .
Why will I be, after all you went and accepted to join the magic specialized battalion before even deciding whether you actually wanted to join the family or not,so I don't have the right to be telling you that what you did was wrong or anything of sort, but I wanted to know is what your thoughts about this situation and believe it or not, I'm curious to know what do you intend to do from now on .
" I don't know .
My answer caught her by surprise, after all, she didn't expect my answer to be this vague, it shouldn't be even considered an answer, but after I told her my true intentions, I still continued to answer her first question, I said :
" Well, I don't know what to think of my current situation either, all I know that I believe that my work here was already done, so I should be leaving, but I also don't want to leave, it's a weird feeling, one that I had never intended to have .
She took all that I was saying in, then said :
so what exactly did you come her for, I'm not following, did you arrive here just to tell me about your existence, was that all .
I shook my head and said :
" Actually, I came here to make you conscious of my my big brother Ryuu's existence and honour his last wish, he only wanted you to acknowledge his existence, I believe that I already achieved that, even though, I have a strong doubt that you cared much .... ~Slap~ .
Without waiting for me to finish talking, she raised her hand and actually slapped me, looking completely natural as she stared at the hand that just slapped me, I was beginning to think that she was making fun of me with that gesture, but I then saw her looking intently at her hand and I couldn't help but activate Spatial Eyes, I saw that the pink cloud that was covering a big chunk of her Magic Calculation Area, actually had a few gaps in it, but then it reconnected as if nothing had happened .
I'm sorry for my sudden outburst, it seemed that I seemed to have become a bit emotional .
I was caressing the left side of my cheeks, the place I had just gotten hit in when I heard her apologizing for hitting me all of a sudden, which weirdly enough didn't annoy me as much as she thought, in fact, even though her hand was quite cold, I actually felt warm inside me, whether she wanted to confess it or not, she really still did have some feelings for my big brother Ryuu .
I shock my head at her words and said :
" Ummm, there is no need to apologize, it was my fault and lack of manner that ended in you teaching me a lesson, quite the maternal behavior if I may say .
So, you don't think that I might have hit you, because I just felt like it or like before, just trying to bind you to the family through playing with your emotions .
" This time, I don't believe so, no .
Why is that, enlighten me ? .
" I'm not entirely sure of what it was that made me believe so, but we might as well call it, just a hunch on my part .
A hunch, huh, you still hadn't gave me your answer .
" Weirdly enough, you also seem to have not changed the subject like each and every time before .
She at my sarcastic remark, just turned back to have a stern expression on her face and she just kept sitting next to me and staring intently without saying anything at all .
" As I was saying, I came here with an objective in mind and it was to relay this to you, I will be lying if I were to say that I came to to this place without thinking of joining this family, after all, I don't believe that in this world, someone will refuse finding a place to which he could belong, but to be honest, I no longer believe that this was the place for me .
But you just said that you didn't want to leave, oh, so you weren't talking about the family mansion, you were talking about this room, you are talking about me, well, I'm honored, but care to explain why are you feeling as such towards me and towards the the family as well .
" You are asking me with the intention of understanding of what might be able to keep me here .
She didn't respond, even after a whole minute had passed, she just continued to stare at me like before, knowing what was she doing, I said :
" I had inherited the will and the emotions that the original Ryuu had for you, I had waited to meet you for almost 13 of my almost 14 years of old, every night I kept on having a nightmare of you leaving me behind without saying anything, what was even more horrible was the fact that neither me nor big brother Ryuu had any memories of how you looked like, which didn't help in making the situation any better .
" Having dreamt of you for over a decade, of course I will have feeling for you, of course I will be counting the days until I finally meet you, but as per your own words from before, you don't have much care about that, so I too don't believe that you will suddenly be able to nurture a relationship with the clone of your son, that had inherited his will .
" As for why I had a bad opinion of the family, to tell you the truth, I actually don't hold much of a bad opinion about the family as whole, I don't believe Yotsuba Genzou-san, would have allowed this family to carry on with a lot of the actions it did, yes, that what actually bothered me, the actions that have been committed by this family on its own members, like with you and probably with Tatsyua too .
" I might be wrong, but I believed that if Genzou-san were to be alive today, he would also think badly of what happened to the family, not to mention the fact that I heard that all you might be interested in me for, was to make me a disposable weapon, would you deny that ? .
As I finished saying this, I actually saw the weirdest reaction since I got out of that facility. I saw that the head of the the Yotsuba Family, the woman that was revered for her vigorous strength and power, was actually having tears rolling down on her cheeks, yet her voice looked as natural as before without much change, which made the scene even more weird .
She didn't seem to notice that her tears were flowing, she just continued to say :
I came to understand your concerns and thoughts, if my father was alive, he really might have loathed the state that the family had become, you really seemed to understand his character well, you seemed to be aware of how he died as well, costing the family a lot of combat strength to be lost and as result, my uncle was forced to reform the family in this way to ensure that the other families still be wary of us, until we rebuilt our strength back, but after a few years, it resulted in stripping the harmony in the family as a consequences .
Destroying the family idea that my father had in mind, so what began as a forced situation, became the only reality, but you still hadn't answered me, what do you intended to do now ? .
