Chapter 1 - Letter One — The First Hello After the Silence

It began with one message.

A single "Hi" that i wasn't even sure i wanted to send.

After weeks of silence, after convincing myself i was finally over the thought of you, my fingers still found their way back to your name.

I didn't plan it. Maybe i just missed you or maybe i missed the way you used to make the hours feel lighter.

Whatever it was, it felt almost… inevitable.

And then you replied.

So quickly, as if you were waiting.

That one notification made my heart ache in the most familiar way, a soft, painful reminder that no matter how hard i tried, I never really let you go.

And when i opened your message, I swear, everything came back, your tone, your warmth, the rhythm of how you type.

You were still you.

Calm, Effortless, A little teasing, a little quiet, like nothing had changed.

Our messages came fast that night.

One after another, like we were trying to make up for all the time we lost.

We talked about simple things at first, random thoughts, daily routines, the little nothings that somehow meant everything and between the lines, I could feel it, the comfort, the ease, the way we both tried to act like we weren't relieved to be here again.

It felt so natural.

Too natural.

As if the silence in between didn't exist, as if we didn't once stop talking like strangers who lost their way.

You asked me how i was, and i told you i've been fine. That life's been steady, that i've been busy, the kind of answers people give when they're hiding something.

You said you were glad to hear it, and i smiled at my screen knowing that both of us were lying in our own quiet ways.

Because the truth was, I wasn't fine.

I missed you.

Not in a desperate way, but in that quiet, familiar ache you feel when something you once held close suddenly comes back and reminds you how alive it once made you feel.

You still made me laugh.

You still said things that made me roll my eyes but secretly smile.

And when you said, "You're still the same," I almost replied, "So are you. Still the calm in my chaos."

But i didn't.

I just sent another emoji and hoped you'd read between the lines.

There was something fragile about that night, like we were standing at the edge of something we both didn't know how to name.

We were careful, but not distant.

Honest, but still afraid.

And for the first time in a while, I didn't care about where it would lead.

I was just glad you were there.

That somehow, after all the silence, we still found our way back to each other, even if it was only for a little while.

Because the truth is, I never expected you to reply.

But you did.

And for that moment, it felt like coming home to something i didn't even know i was still missing.
