Gabriel thought to himself for a couple seconds, contemplating Blake's words. Not wanting to rush and give an answer, though he did at least agree with some things Blake stated.
"Maybe, but that doesn't close the case. Stolas never confirmed whether he killed those people or not. He only mentioned some deaths but nothing that would hold up in court" He replied, though not entirely convinced himself.
What Gabriel learned over the case is that fact he leads a group of members that are based on the seven deadly sins. You can maybe attest to Mark why they got so much information on Blake over the years.
Blake thought about that for a second, putting his feet down. Leaning forward in the chair, he runs his hands through his hair, making it look even messier than before. "Honestly, Rook, I gotta admit he's not necessarily wrong."
His sudden outburst broke Gabriel from his train of thought. Gabriel just looked at Blake with a weird expression on his face. "You just got done cussing this man out and now all of sudden you're agreeing with him."
"There have been suspects I had to let go because of lack of evidence. Some that got off on a trail from having decent lawyers or messed up papers.", Blake admitted.
"You can't just get out and kill people in some self-righteous crusade," Gabriel argued. Slamming his hands on the desk in anger at Blake's reply. "They are rules and regulations for a reason. If everyone started taking the law into their own hands, it goes from trying to help other people, to killing innocents"
Blake let out a sigh."I'm not justifying any of the murders that man had done, hell majority of the people this man has killed were people I've known.
"That's how it's beginning to come off."
"No, that's not, listen, all I'm saying is I can get it if he started off his little crusade to protect others and it spiraled from there."
"Well, at this point it doesn't matter we have Stolas in custody now, so our best bet is to get more answers about the members of the group that are left.", Gabriel pointed out.
"Don't forget that we need to figure out why he wanted to do the ritual in the first place", Blake added, lifting his wrist up to show off the holy relic.
Gabriel nodded his head in argument. "I forgot about that, how much longer till the captain gets here."
"I don't know, though I still think it's best if we hand the prep off to church to lock away.", Blake shrugged.
"Can't say I don't disagree with that statement", Gabriel mused as the conversation grew to a close.
Blake closed his eyes, probably happy he can finally relax after the last few weeks of everything. Gabriel, despite his mental fatigue, feels pretty okay, though he didn't get his ass kicked today nearly as much as Blake had.
Gabriel slowly tapped his fingers on the desk in boredom. The captain said he would handle any remaining paperwork from the case, luckily Gabriel wouldn't have to do that. With nothing to do, and Nadia still not answering his messages, his mind wondered about his future.
He has been wondering if he should join the Church as a detective or some type of member. It's been something running through his mind since going to the organization.
He'd love to learn about supernatural monsters, including the ones he's already faced. Also he wanted to learn how to be smarter with his abilities along with learning how to fight.
Gabriel, bored, decided to check his phone. He's been sitting there for about thirty minutes now . He debated with himself, going back and forth ultimately making his choice. His chair made a loud scrap against the ground as he stood up.
Gabriel's eyes looking through the glass window at Stolas knew he had to get the answers he wanted.
"Well, well, is that Rook willing to break the rules?"
Gabriel's shoulders slumped in defeat. "Truthfully, I'm just tired of dealing with this case, plus there are some questions I have for him that need to be answered."
"Ahhh, so you want to be the one to break the prep.", Blake nodded sagely.
"Eh, I just wanted get answers to some questions I had in mind. That includes the few I have for you."
Blake raised his eyebrow in interest. "Oh, you have questions for me?"
"Yes, such as why you didn't tell me you married Chole's sister Ava. Along with you being there to take care of the kids after the parents got killed. Or how your partner made you the godfather to those kids?"Gabriel pressed, though his tone was neutral.
Gabriel didn't turn his head to look at Blake, but he could hear his heavy breathing. The tension in the air turned thick, but Gabriel didn't care. Drained of the lies and all the secrecy.
"I guess I have taught you well as a detective.", Blake muttered, though it was loud enough for Gabriel to hear.
"It seemed kind of obvious with how often you were being targeted, Nadia decided to do a deep dive into any and everything connected to you."
"I guess it's fair, can't blame you Rook. If it was me, I'd do the same thing."
"Exactly, and while I could sit here bitching. I'd rather go be productive and go end this once and for all."
"Now you're speaking my language, Rook!"Blake cheered, his fist pumping in the air.
Gabriel looked on. Blinking in confusion at Blake's reaction. Shaking his head lightly Gabriel walked forward, Blake fast on his heels. He reached the door quickly to the room Stolas was still chained up in.
His hand on the handle, he took a quick breath before entering. As soon as the doorknob turned, Stolas's head popped up, a smirk quickly forming on his face.
"Ahh, and here I thought you detectives ran like a dog. With your tail tucked between your legs."
Nadia rushed to jump onto the next top, her boots hitting the ground quickly. Her purple aura glowing around her as she kept moving. Nadia easily keeps up with the car that has been cruising on the road.
The purple aura reflects her ability to use life energy, or Parna. An ability Nadia had learned as a child.
Parna is something everyone uses differently, such as Gabriel with his light constructs. Every single person who can access Parna can then use it to enhance themselves .
In this case, Nadia's powers bend the elements, like fire. Though she prefers not to use it outwardly, mostly using her abilities to enhance herself.
At the moment, she has been tailing Captain Drake for the better part of the day. After not being allowed on the strike team to capture Stolas. She thought I'd be a good use of her time looking into Captain Bryan Drake himself.
Captain Drake was part of the team during the time Blake's partner died, and is a close friend of Blake's. If what they know of Stolas is correct, even Blake's watch is needed to complete the ritual.
Nadia wouldn't put past Stolas to send someone after Captain Drake. Though truthfully, it has been boring since she started following earlier that day. The guy has been just going around having meetings.
The most exciting thing that happened was when he went to see his son's football team practice. Which one itself was strange, but still the guy apparently stays busy.
Nadia felt her cell phone go off in her pocket but chose not to pull it out. One was probably Gabs, and she was still upset about being excluded from the raid. Two, it has slowly begun to drizzle, and she really didn't feel like dealing with a wet cell phone screen.
"Though I could always use wind, or water to stop the rain from drenching me.", she mused.
In a slight moment of distraction, a giant explosion happened in the middle of the road. Nadia saw Captain Drake slam on his brakes. A loud screeching noise sounded out as cars were trying not to go in the ditch.
A giant bird flew in picking Captain Drake's car before flying off with it. "Shit!", Nadia muttered to herself. Seeing the car quickly going away, Nadia started running as fast as she could.
Her aura glow brightly as she was doing her best to catch up with the bird. A look of frustration on her face as she realized the bird was flying higher in the sky. Nadia jumped off the rooftop, boosting her jump with wind.
For a moment, if people looked up in the air they would see a purple blur speeding through the air. As Nadia quickly approached the car door, she reached out and grabbed the handle.
Just hoping that the handle wouldn't break as she dangled in the air. Thankfully, Captain Drake unrolled down the window, allowing Nadia to climb through.
