Chapter 48 - Episode 47: The Fall Of A King

INT. FOREST ENTRANCE - EVENING, NOVEMBER 4, 2025

Stolas leaned his head back, letting out a loud, bitter laugh. "Aww man, that was the best joke I've heard in a very long time.", He said. "Come then, show me your resolve, Mr.Detective."

Blake slowly turned back around, blood dripping from a small mark on his forehead. Gabriel met Blake's eyes, and he knew then that Blake didn't want his help. The watch glowing slightly on his right arm indicated the anger Blake was holding back.

With a loud roar, Blake launched himself at Stolas, opening with a flurry of punches aimed at Stolas's face. Stolas weaved between each blow, turning a deadly fight to what seemed like a dance. The lines on Blake's face deepened, his face turning red as anger began to grow within him.

Gabriel couldn't help but watch Blake be led around the clearing. Even when Blake tried to knee Stolas, Stolas was able to block it easily. It felt like Stolas was taking it like a game, as if he knew that Blake wouldn't be a challenge.

"Even though he's supposed to be weak, he seems as strong as Grace. If not even stronger than she was when we fought her.", Gabriel thought to himself, observing every little movement in case he needed to jump to save Blake's life.

Blake went for another knee, this time aimed at Stoals's stomach. Stolas blocked the knee with his left hand, countering with a right elbow to Blake's jaw. Blake stumbled back, slightly stunned by the sudden attack.

Stolas approached Blake for the first time in the fight, taking the intention to attack. Stolas threw a kick that hit Blake in his stomach. Blake doubled over in pain, spit instantly coming out of his mouth.

"I expected more from the great 'Silencer'. What a pity, look at how weak you've grown.", Stolas goaded, grabbing Blake by the back of his head, forcing him to look up at his face. "I expected more, my fault for listening to past glories."

Stolas stopped talking, looking at Blake's face for a second. He then head-butted Blake, sending him to the ground on his back. Stolas clicked his teeth and spit on the ground. Turning his back on Blake, Stolas faced Gabriel.

Stolas had a smile on his face as he approached. "Now you Detective Gabriel, I've been hearing plenty of reports about you." He said, pointing his index finger at Gabriel as he kept walking. "I've been wanting to meet you for a very long time."

Gabriel tensed at hearing that before calming down. He mentally commanded Echo to heal Blake while staying invisible. "Well next time just pick a phone, don't have to send your little minions after me."

"What's the point of having minions if you don't boss them around."

"I wouldn't know, I tend to try to treat everyone as equals.", Gabriel replied tightly.

"Oh lighten up, come Gabe you don't have to be so tense.", Stolas playacted, holding his hands up in front of him. "We can be friends, comrade-in-arms."

Gabriel glared sharply, clenching his fist but refusing to charge in recklessly. "I don't make friends with serial killers, or people who willingly harm others.

"Then how about this Gabe, is it okay if I call you Gabe?:", Stolas asked before continuing on anyway, not waiting for Gabriel to answer. " It doesn't matter, Gabe just rolls off the tongue better.. See Gabe, we don't have to be enemies, just let me take Blake while it's still the full moon, and we can go about our merry way."

"You think I'd let you take him away, to be tortured, or even worse, killed?"Gabriel shot back, ignoring everything else that Stolas had replied.

Stolas shrugged in response. "Honestly, all he needs to do is give me the key, and he could live. Though I know his type, he would rather die before being so….. Reasonable."

"I can show you how reasonable I can be, jackass!", Blake exclaimed, slowly getting to his feet.

Gabriel felt relief that Blake was okay, though the look of frustration radiating from Stolas was mildly scary. Even with the hood obscuring his face, you could tell that he probably had a scowl on his face.

Stolas slowly turned around, small dark waves mixed with orange started to come off of his body. "Let me make it clear to your Detective!", he spat, his tone low. His playfulness is now replaced with this anger. "Dead or Alive all I want is the fucking watch, so hand it over. Then we can all go about our merry way."

"Yeah, then come take from the dead corpse bitch.", Blake replied, the watch glowing before forming two gauntlets over his fist.

Stolas just clicked his teeth, but unlike before, he started off this round of combat. He quickly charged at Blake, his speed almost double compared to before. Gabriel, not sitting back this time, made a grapple gun. Similar to one he has seen in comics before.

He quickly aimed the grapple gun at Stola's foot. The hook shot out fast, wrapping around Stola's foot causing him to trip up right in front of Blake. Blake capitalized on Stolas tripping and hit with an uppercut to the chin.

Stolas stumbled back, but Blake didn't let him go far. Blake, unleashing all of his anger, threw a flurry of punches into Stola's face. Each one landing with a satisfying crunch, much to Blake's delight. He finished off his punches by clenching both of his hands together.

The gauntlets shining brightly, he did a little spin, lowering his arms before raising them. Hitting Stolas hard in the face, his body flew through the air. A trail of blood coming out of his mouth as he landed a few feet away on his back.

Blake's breath came out heavy, a bunch of fog forming in front of him because of the chilly air. Slighting leaning over as the gauntlets disappeared off his hands. Seeing Blake was okay, Gabriel turned his head towards Stolas.

Gabriel quickly took his pistol out, rushing towards the downed Stolas. He checked if Stolas was breathing by nudging the body. Seeing the chest rising up and down, Gabriel put his gun away, pulling out the handcuffs he got from the church that would lock away a demon's ability.

He quickly knelt down, flipping Stolas onto his stomach. Gabriel grabbed the right wrist forcing the cuff onto it. He quickly grabbed the other one, putting the cuff onto the left hand.

Int. Outside Police Interrogation Room (Night) November 4th, 2025

The door slamming knocked Gabriel from his thoughts as Blake walked through the door. One of the lights shaking back and forth from the force of Blake's slam. His face was less red compared to when he was in the interrogation room with Stolas, though he didn't dare try to hide the frown on his face.

The smell of cigarette smoke made Gabriel wiggle his nose in distaste. He always hated the smell, especially when Blake smoked. He has at least three cigarettes minimum before being down. It's been awhile since Gabriel had smelt cigarettes coming from Blake, though with how messy the last few weeks has been it's not surprising that he hasn't smoked anything.

Gabriel reached into his pocket, pulled out his cell phone, quickly unlocking the phone he went to the messages. Still had no message from Nadia since they had left for the raid earlier. Gabriel knew she was angry because they hadn't allowed her to go with them.

Nadia argued, and through a fit about not being able to join them, even making an argument she could fight better than himself. Which, for the record, is true. He was scared that they would all die facing Stolas earlier, but he didn't want to admit it to her.

Seeing her not replying since they fought earlier made him a little worried, but he knew it would pass. Setting his phone down on the desk he couldn't help but lean back. Ignoring the groaning from the chair Blake was sitting in.

Gabriel's head faced the ceiling as he couldn't stop thinking about everything going on. The past week opened his eyes to so many secrets, it almost feels like a dream. Almost like it was fake at the fact that he survived fighting multiple different things including vampires.

Gabriel let out a sigh as he tried to come to terms with everything now that the case would be ending soon.

Blake broke the quiet atmosphere when he finally spoke up."Did you get anymore info out of that fucker after I left?" he asked, weary sighing escaping from Blake's lips at finally being able to rest his bones.

Gabriel shook his head no. "I didn't get much more than you besides the man having a godplex believing he is going to usher in a new age."

"Maybe your cult idea wasn't so farfetched.", Blake mused. Putting his feet up on the desk.
