Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - The Reckless Adventurer

Riding through the forest, twin sisters by the names of Raven and Hecate are searching for a rare type of flower called The Crystal Nixes. This particular flower was said to have the ability to purify one's mana and increase the strength of both warriors and magicians. It is supposed to grow just outside of the den of a class 5 snake monster called the diamond skinned poison snake. It was said that this particular monster hunted during the day so the girls planned to head to the den at midday steal the flower and head back hoping nobody would be the wiser. Of course things rarely go the way one plans. Like it or not things will always go wrong and that is just what happened to them.

"Sis is it really ok to do this without a proper escort? I mean it is called the green death mountains for a reason, with just us alone we may not make it. Not to mention we are definitely not the opponents of the diamond skinned poison snake, if we run into it, it will be the end of us" Hecate said in a cautious tone. Hecate is rather timid girl, she was a talented magician and had a great mind but she also had a habit of overthinking things, which both had its pros and cons. She carried a short staff with a glowing green gem at the top looking left and right in caution and even a bit of fear. "Dummy if we bring too many people we will be more likely to be noticed by monsters. Besides we aren't going that deep into the forest we will be in and out before anyone realizes we're gone." Hecate's sister Raven, confident in her plan and believing that nothing could possibly go wrong she urged her horse forward and takes the lead. Raven is a very confident person, but usually is an act first think second, or never, kind of person. She carries two extremely durable sabers with light enchantments on them, one on each hip. The saber she holds in her left hand casts a low level healing spell on her every 30 seconds and the saber in her right hand create wounds that take longer to heal and are resistant to healing magic. Sitting on her horse in a proud and aloof manner she continued onward with only her quest in mind. "Anyways father will want to give the flower to brother, he doesn't care if we get stronger saying we are too inexperienced and better off staying at home. Father has always favored elder brother over everyone else so we can't let anyone know or they might tell Father and our efforts will be for nothing."

These two were no ordinary girls, they are the two princesses of the port city of Lockville. Lockville was like most port cities, however they did have one major difference and that was their adventures guild was immensely large. The reason for this is because of the closeness of The Green Death Mountains which contained many monsters and was perfect for adventurers to go monster hunting and collect rare herbs that can not be found anywhere else in the world. After about an hour of riding, the horses started to get rather restless. "Sis I think we should turn back if we go any further we won't be able to find our way back out and the horses seem to be scared of something." Hecate was looking every which way, she throughly believed that they were in grave danger. "Nothing to worry about even if we come across a few monsters it's nothing we can't handle."

After about 10 minutes more of riding Raven looked about and proclaimed "It's official, we're lost." "I knew it, I knew this would happen, why don't you ever listen to me?" Hecate screamed furiously with her ever reckless sister. "Now don't be too hasty I'm sure mother and father will send people to come look for us." Hecate started rubbing her temples in frustration before saying. "Raven we didn't tell anyone where we were going, no one knows we're here." The girls were so caught up in their conversation that they had yet to realize that their shouting drew a number of monsters in their direction. Hecate was the first to notice them. "Sis look, monsters!" 3 snake monsters 12 feet long and 1 foot thick slowly slithered towards the girls. Raven turned her head and scoffed "They are just a couple of normal class 2 snake monsters." Raven dismounted drew her two swords and prepared to fight. Since green skinned snake monsters power ranged from rank 1 to rank 3 Raven had little fear of them. When Raven saw that they were only rank 2 she didn't believe they were much of a threat, the problem would be if they were higher ranked or a large amount came at them at once but since they were just rank 2 monsters there was nothing to worry about even if it was three rank 3 monsters as long as the two of them worked together and were careful it wouldn't be to difficult for them.

Unlike magicians who used their mana to cast spells of various elements, warriors use techniques called skills which depended on their weapon and fighting style. The higher ranked skills could utilize elements as well but those were rare and difficult to master not to mention they used a lot of mana. Raven held her swords up and prepared to fight. Since there were three opponents she decided to quickly finish one off to make the fight a little easier. "Skill, Physical Enhancement" enhancing the body her speed and strength greatly increased Nicolle charged the snake on the right and quickly cut the head clean off. This surprised the other two snakes but since lower rank monster aren't that intelligent they continued to fight her anyway.

Hecate was gifted in magic, she also possessed aptitudes for three of the six elements of magic, water, earth, and wind. Advanced mages were capable of combining these elements to use other spells this would eventually allow Hecate to use ice and sand magic. "Earth bind" Noelle trapped the tail of the third snake to keep it from advancing so that Raven could take the snakes on one at a time. Raven prepared for the second snake "Skill, Twin Sword Slash" Raven crossed her swords and swung them in an "X" shape, this action threw forth two crescent blades made of mana. The attack landed on the second snake with perfect accuracy killing it instantly. Since Hecate hadn't put much magic power into the spell in order to conserve her magic power for future use she was only able to bind the third snake for a few seconds but that was plenty of time for Raven. With only one snake left Raven decided to try a technique that she had been working on recently. She took the sword in her right hand and held the hilt in her right hand palm facing up. When she was ready she threw the sword straight at the snake. Raven was well aware that it could dodge her blade with its head so she aimed at the body behind its head. As predicted the snake moved its head to dodge but then sword embedded itself in the body of the Green Skinned Poison Snake and pinning it to the ground preventing it from escaping. While the Green Skinned Poison Snake was distracted with the first blade she charged forward once more "Skill, Physical Enhancement" she stabbed her left sword from beneath its raised head and straight into its brain.

After disposing of the snakes Raven felt very accomplished however their father was right about one thing, they were extremely inexperienced. If they had a bit more knowledge on these monsters they would have known that Green Skinned Poison Snakes were very territorial and that they lived in packs ranging from 50 to 100. If they had killed a few strays at the edge of the forest there wouldn't have been much of a problem but they were deep in the snakes territory and had just invoked the wrath of the entire pack. Maybe if they had ran at the beginning they might have escaped unscathed but since they stayed and killed the snakes there is no way the rest of the pack would let them off easily.

"See not a problem." Walking back with confidence Raven had her head held high while bragging to Hecate. However neither of the sisters noticed two more snakes that appeared from behind and attacked the horses. With this Raven's horse took off and Hecate was thrown from her horse and landed on her back. For Green Skinned Poison Snakes this move normally wouldn't be possible unless someone was commanding them however the girls were completely unaware of this. Raven had yet to notice the snakes and tried to run after the horses but because of this she put quite a bit of distance between herself and Hecate. Raven turned around in frustration just in time to see one of the snakes lunge at Hecate. Raven screamed "Behind you!" in hopes of warning her sister but it was too late. Hecate turned in time to see the snake flying towards her, she lifted her arm to protect her face and as a result the snake sunk its fangs deep into her left arm. Despite the pain Hecate kept her cool and cast a spell at the second snake "Wind blade." Cutting the second snake in two. Raven ran over and chopped off the head of the first snake that bit Hecate however the fangs broke off in her arm and the poison was starting to spread. The poison from these monsters could be easily treated however if left untreated it would cause pain, fatigue, and in worst cases, death. Raven dropped her sabers and started to dress Hecate's arm with strips made from her sleeves and what the girls had to realize is that they were surrounded by more a hundred green skinned poison snakes who's power ranged from rank 1 to rank 2 and even a few rank 3's, with snakes coming from every direction they had nowhere to run. However little did they know was that Ravens earlier scream was what will save both of their lives.
