Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Distress Call

I'm out of here. I can't deal with your madness. I would rather not regret my action," the Alpha restrained his anguish and stormed out of Fiona's room.

Strolling to his chambers, he encounters Durella addressing the soldiers.

He looked away and feigned a smile, trying to look so friendly and calm.

The pretense was so obvious and caught Durella's attention.

Hurriedly, he gestured to the Alpha, abandoning his meeting with the guards.

"You look unsettled. What's the matter? Fiona is finally pregnant. You should be delighted. You've always yearned for that, haven't you?"

"It's wrong to abandon your meeting in crucial matters. Now run back to them immediately," Kane instructed Durella, who showed concern about his mood.

"The body gets affected when the head is chaotic. They'd be fine. The meeting can wait." Durella remained adamant.

"I'll tell you already. Fiona has been pissing me off lately. She suddenly lost all respect for me.

She manipulates me with the pregnancy. Of course, she knows I can't lay a finger on her, not when she's carrying my child." He narrated.

"Fiona, again? I see the pregnancy had given her the impetus to disrespect you.

I think you should just avoid her until the child is born." Durella suggested, which didn't go well with the Alpha.

"Impossible! Not until my son is born. You know that's not going to happen. I need to keep an eye on her.

That leper shouldn't be trusted. My life rests on her shoulder." Kane protested.

"You're so confident. You can't be so sure." Durella tackled him. Kane had never thought about that before.

"So what are you insinuating? That I should be expecting a girl child? I doubt the moon goddess would be so cruel as to allow that to happen to me. "He asked in curiosity.

"There's only one way to find out. Let's invite the moon guardian over to confirm the baby inside Fiona," Durella proposed as the Alpha agreed.

"Go call the moon guardian immediately," Kane instructed and shuffled to his throne to cool off.

Unknown to them, Fiona had been eavesdropping on their conversation from her room.

What a strange way to finally discover the truth.

She now understands why the Alpha was so nosy to see her get pregnant.

It's hard for her to reckon that she was just an instrument to liberate the Alpha from sudden death.

Heartbroken by the situation, she laid a condemnation on her crooked stepfather and reprimanded him for the unfortunate incident.

"If he hadn't sold me out to the cruelest Alpha, I wouldn't be entangled in a situation like this," she bemoaned further and decided to elope to the full moon pack.

There was no way she was going to let the Alpha take her baby.

She felt cheated, humiliated, and betrayed by everyone.

To avert her worst from happening, Fiona calmly loaded a few wares and eloped from the Blood Moon pack, making sure no one saw her.

She wasn't certain of her destination but only wanted to be far away from the ruthless and selfish Alpha.

Minutes after her escape, Durella strolled in with the moon guardian.

"Go call me Fiona immediately. The moon guardian detests lateness. I need to get to the root of this matter. I can't keep living in the dark," Kane.

. Moments later, Durella returned without Fiona. "The worst has happened, my Alpha. Fiona is nowhere to be found anywhere. I suspect she might have eloped with her…"

Kane landed a punch on Durella before he could complete his explanation.

"Is this a joke? How could she possibly break out under the watchful eyes of my guards? Have you dug everywhere? Make sure you find her."

"Whenever you are ready to have a conversation with me, you know where to find me." The moon guardian walked away in disappointment.

Durella tried to apologize, but she ignored him.

"My Alpha, there's a new development," Durella reported and bent his head.

"What stupid development are you talking about? Spill it already. I'm gradually losing my patience." Kane fumed.

"I saw a few of her clothes dispersed outside. I think she just escaped not quite long ago." Durella promised.

"You're still here thinking. What are you waiting for? Go find her. Take as many soldiers as you want. Ensure she's brought back alive." Kane roared.

"Durella bowed and exited the pack to assemble the other soldiers as instructed by Alpha Kane.

Seeing the disappointment hoarded in Kane's face, Durella knew he mustn't come back with negative news if he would rather not be beheaded by his Alpha.

"Now listen up, everyone. Who else is missing? Go call the others. I want everyone assembled here now. A big task awaits us." Durella roared while they awaited the others.

Would you mind telling us what's going on here? Are we preparing to wage another war against our opposition pack? Speak, my BETA. We are so curious to know why you called us," one of them spoke on behalf of everyone.

"Soon, you'll understand why I called you all out here when the others arrived," Durella muttered succinctly as 5 other guards assembled with the others.

."You asked us to come. What's the problem? Is the Alpha distressed?" Romero asked as he panted heavily like someone being chased by wild animals,"

Finally! I'm happy that you all decided to accept my invitation. You're not far from the truth, Romero. The Alpha is indeed in great distress," Durella finally broke the silence that stunned everyone.

"And what could be done?" Everyone exclaimed in unison as they widened their mouths in a fly-catching position.

"Fiona just absconded with the Alpha's unborn child. Aside from escaping, she's also exposing herself and the baby to danger. What if she gets attacked by angry wolves?" Durella announced.

"Yes, my BETA," they all screamed.

The shock on everyone's face could tell how serious the situation was.

The last time Durella assembled them like that, they were planning to invade another pack for a war in which they emerged victorious.

Good! Now, let's go immediately." Durella led the way as they marched into the woods with the entire squad.

"I'll kill Durella if he fails to come back without Fiona. I can't believe I was this close to breaking the curse. What if she isn't found?" Alpha Kane thought.

The pain of not finding Fiona and dying before 30 is beginning to scare him.

Now, Kane may be forced to believe the moon goddess is becoming silent over his predicament.
