My head throbbed painfully as I pushed myself up from the bed. My hand flew to my temple, trying to ease the pounding ache—it felt as though a hammer was striking inside my skull.
I groaned and shut my eyes when the sunlight filtering into the room burned against them. After a while, I blinked again and slowly took in my surroundings.
I didn't remember going to bed. The last thing I recalled was Alison coming over to my room to borrow my laptop for some research. After that, everything went blank—like an empty page.
I was in my room but something didn't feel right at all.
Just then, the door to my room gently swung open. A maid held the door for my mom who stood beside another man who was dressed in black suit and held a briefcase in his hand.
I stared at my mother, my brows furrowed slightly in confusion, silently demanding for answers with my gaze.
I saw her swallow hard before stepping into my room with the suit cladded man, stepping in after her.
