Chapter 15:Chaos or Griever
The battle started the moment Klaus shouted his command to Rana. Grace transformed into something monstrous, right there in front of us. She became an otherworldly creature, using her hair—now sharp, steel-like strands—as a weapon.
It didn't matter, though, because Klaus was faster. He enchanted spells onto playing cards and hurled them, scoring deep cuts across her monstrous body. I couldn't just stand there. I drew my knife and rushed at her, aiming a slice at her leg. She dodged it with casual speed, giving me a look of cold contempt, as if my strength was nothing compared to hers.
Things spiraled into chaos. Grace's body morphed further: she grew eighteen spidery legs and transformed completely into a demonic beast. I froze, caught in the awful thought: Does she still have any of her humanity left?
That moment of hesitation was fatal. She kicked me hard in the stomach, and I went flying down the stairs. The pain was searing; my body screamed in agony. All I could do was look up and see Kenji attacking her now, using daggers tainted with poison as he sliced at her legs. I wondered where he got such weapons, but the thought didn't matter. I scrambled back toward the room.
Before I could get there, Klaus unleashed a power I'd never imagined. He turned the very substance of the room into something like clay, trapping her, and simultaneously used the molded earth to slice and bind her body. It was an appalling but beautiful sight.
Kenji rushed forward and swung his blade, successfully chopping off her head. I thought the battle was finally over.
But it wasn't. Instead of dying, she grew three heads back, like a terrifying hydra, and started attacking with frenzied, wild rage.
"What's happening?" I screamed.
"The False God is trying to be reborn!" Klaus yelled back. "We must destroy her quickly!"
I wasted no time. I charged back in, but in my head, a furious voice was raging: Why am I not helping? Am I this weak? The guilt snapped me back to the present. I locked in, going toe-to-toe with the three-headed beast, my knife blade clashing uselessly against her steel-like hair. I didn't know who was winning; all I knew was that I was fighting.
"Back away!" Rana screamed.
I jumped back, thinking something had gone wrong. She ignored the demon and began chanting powerful words: "Oh, Great God Anima, bless me with the power to destroy the false prophet and let your light be shined again and remain above all."
When she finished, her hands began to glow. She unleashed a power I couldn't even comprehend—it was so strong, so overwhelming, that we all had to evacuate the house immediately. We watched from outside as the demon was destroyed, instantly turning to ash in the blast of pure Anima energy. I was stunned by her strength.
Then, Rana deactivated the barrier, and I saw something impossible: The house was perfectly restored, as if nothing had ever happened.
