Chapter 5 - City Z

The voice and words confused Shenxi greatly. What were they? Where was he? What was happening? Multiple questions rang out in his mind.

There was nobody to answer it before and he found himself unable to connect deeply with the Dao too, as if someone had forcibly cut his connection.

The initial few moments were of absolute despair, something Shenxi had not felt in a really long time.

The helpless, however, had now changed.

There was someone who knew of things and could answer his queries. So what if it was a woman?

He already attained the Dao and getting seduced may not necessarily be bad.

'Ahem. What nonsense am I thinking? My Dao Heart is firm. Nothing can move it.'

With such a thought in mind, Shenxi made his way back to the crate and appeared as nonchalant as before.

The lady didn't tease him further and instead said seriously, "So far you've just been in the Upper Realm and did not venture out much due to wanting to attain the Dao. Well, you certainly made a name for yourself by doing just this. Some people even lovingly call you Venerable Shenxi instead of Immortal Shenxi. I like the latter to be honest…"

Shenxi couldn't tell whether this woman was wasting time or actually giving proper information, but with what she had said so far, nothing was wrong.

Many did label him as Venerable Shenxi. Some even called him the Handsome Immortal, and was it perhaps his handsomeness that attracted this red-haired lady?

Shenxi couldn't tell.

He had far too many good qualities!

"…anyway, so this universe still works on the underlying principles of the Cosmic Dao but the way people wield it is different. For example, imagine the Cosmic Dao as fish. The most common way to take fish out of water is by a fishing rod, but people can also use spears or nets. That's the simplest analogy I can give."

"This universe has its own set of rules and regulations and you need to abide by it to grow and survive. Imagine you're fishing in shallow waters. You can't possibly use a fishing rod now, can you? You need to opt for spears or make traps to catch the fish. This is what your current situation is. And that system… it's going to help you have a smoother transition."

After listening to so much, Shenxi couldn't help but frown and ask, "How do you know all of it?"

There were no such things as gods or goddesses. It was a made up concept by the mortals and to some degrees, strong immortals like Shenxi could definitely be called as gods, but it wasn't right.

The word god meant someone was omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. But apart from the Cosmic Dao, there was nothing else that could be called that.

Then, was the Cosmic Dao, god?

Of course not.

It's a principle that regulates and governs everything. Without it, everything ceases to exist, even immortals like Shenxi included.

Despite being a figure at the very peak, there were some things Shenxi still couldn't do. He specialized in the Dao of Time, and this meant he naturally did not know the high end principles related to the Dao of Space.

He couldn't make a city vanish from coordinate A and have it appear at coordinate B.

This thing was something low level experts attaining this Dao could do, but definitely not him.

The red-haired lady could tell what was on Shenxi's mind.

She shook her head and said, "I can't tell you everything now. But with due time, you'll know everything. After all, you know it best that sometimes knowing too much can also cause harm."

Well, she wasn't wrong about this and Shenxi couldn't argue. He wasn't at his peak state to be fearless of everything. He had to be careful and on guard, lest he lost his life here.

Years and years of secluded cultivation and isolation would go to waste if he really died as he would have to reincarnate and start again from scratch. It was too much effort, not worth it.

Shenxi nodded his head with some reluctance and the red-haired lady flashed him a gentle smile.

This handsome immortal really was very understanding. Talking to smart ones like him really lifted her mood. Unlike a certain few individuals…

"Achoo!"

At the corner, Zhang Ling rubbed his nose.

The nail had been hammered to the ground and as there was nothing more to hammer, he turned to the flirting couple and said, "If your business is over, can you now give us some powers? I wanna take over the Wei Consortium and start my journey to be the strongest existence alive."

"What powers?" The red-haired lady asked. "I gave you everything already. I don't have anything more to give. Anyway, you should find that chip quickly and hack the database otherwise we three would get into serious trouble and be jailed for life."

"Huh?" Zhang Ling was confused. "What do you mean by we? Who's we? And why would we be jailed?"

The red-haired lady tapped on the pouch hanging by her waist and had three huge rifles along with multiple glocks appear on the ground.

"On my way here, a few men were flirting with me and gave me these gifts."

The lady picked up a Glock and shot at a nearby camera, startling Zhang Ling.

"What are you doing!?!"

The lady put the 'gifts' back into her pocket and said, "I can't have my admirers track me down now, can I? It's your responsibility to delete the footage related to us or we are goners. You can now be seen as my companion and won't be able to escape."

"What do you mean—"

Zhang Ling stopped immediately when he realized something.

He had been hammering for a while and from that spot, this lady came out. She also showed him the guns, and all of this was on camera.

Zhang Ling: "…"

The red-haired lady suddenly held Shenxi's wrist and began running out of the alley as she heard faint sirens.

"…holy sh*t!"

Only now did Zhang Ling understand everything!

"Curse you, goddess! Curse your nine generations! Aaaaahhhhh!"
