Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Did not see nor hear

February 8

'Dear diary, it has been a year since I've been turned, it is not easy to adapt to a different lifestyle but I've been getting by. The butcher shop owner has been my savior ever since I've become what I am, he often saves me some blood to eat or drink most of the time, I really am glad that he has such a big heart.'

'And I've found him, the man who turned me into this creature of the night who craves blood and flesh every now and then, my plan has been slowly falling in line and hopefully I'll be able to kill him before Christmas.'

The scribbling of the pen has stopped, the author of the book sighed even though he does not need to, guess human habits never left him even after a year.

He put down his pen slowly massaging his head to ease a make believe migraine, he stood up and laid at his bed that he has not slept at most nights never actually feeling fatigue as his body does not need rest no more.

He sighed staring at the white ceiling of his 10 square meter apartment, time seems irrelevant whenever he closes his eyes, the wall clock ticked in the background then his phone rang his shift at the store will start at 3:00 in the morning until 7:30 which is when his class starts.

So yeah being a deinstitutionalized orphan gives him time to live the most miserable life.

If he wants to live which is funny being an undead, he has to hurry up and start heading to the convenience store which is apparently halfway through his school, and is quite nice, he only needs to finish his shift and head straight to the educational institution.

He stood up and started compiling all the things he would need for the day, being a junior is never fun.

Picking and stuffing his things into his backpack, after he checked all the appliances in his compartment which only consisted of a kettle and electric cooker. He tied his hair in a low ponytail and went through the door locking it right after.

He started walking down the hallway his soft steps echoed through the early morning, the chill of the fog seems to seep into the building. His body did not shiver as it used to in the past.

He passed the elevator not wanting to use it as to not disturb people who are still sleeping, being only at the third floor of the building he slowly went down the stairs holding onto the railing as to not trip down, which is still painful even if his pain receptor is not working anymore.

Just as he reached the steps on the first floor, he heard a rustling of some sorts, he slowly peeked at the wall and the scene he saw is almost sexual to look at.

The guard is being pinned by a younger man in a tight position, whispered noises that most human ears can't pick up are heard by him.

"Come on now mister~ let me take a piece of you~" the young man purred softly.

"Get your hands off me young man-" the guard was cut off interjected by the young man.

"And what? You'll call the hunters to torture me? To tie me up hmm~?" The young man softly sung to the guards ear.

"Just let me take a bite and I'll be on my way" the young man spoke in a low tone.

He continued to watch the young man and the guard engage in a wrestling match. But after a minute he emerged from the stairwell and walked past the two. Unbothered by the commotion that they put themselves into.

The two people stopped what they were doing when they heard footsteps from their right and watched the teenager walk past them unbothered by the face, both of them blushed even when only one of them was a real living being that have blood to paint his face.

As he stepped outside the building, the dark streets only lit by streetlights were desolated by some passing workers cars that were coming home from their night shift.

He watched the sky, clouds covering most of it, some stars can be peeked up as clouds are moved by the wind.

He started to walk down the sidewalk enamoured by the scenery.

This is one of the things he enjoyed after he was turned, watching the sky, strolling around the city with almost no consequences except being pointed and stopped by patrols every now and then, which he was able to acquaint with.

After walking for about 35 minutes and not meeting his usual patrol friends the convenience store came in sight, looking at his phone 2:53 'not late, good'.

He jogged slowly as he reached the front, a customer walked out drunk, barely balancing their body staggering to walk straight.

'ah, they'll be someone else's late dinner or early breakfast i guess' he though as he stepped inside the store looking at his co-worker Jay a junior college student.

Jay's face lit up as he started undoing his apron and taking his own things.

"Thank heavens you're here Crain, always on time" Jay yawned.

"Yeah, yeah you can go now" Crain shooed Jay off the counter as he put on his apron.

"Thank you, gotta go now" Jay's eyes teared yawning one more time. Covering his mouth as he stretches a little.

"Well, be careful out there, try not to become someone else's meal" Crain stated before waving goodbye to Jay.

'Gosh, I'm glad there are barely any customers at this time' as he watched Jay's back disappear

Time passed as Crain mopped the floor to do something out of boredom when the glass door rang.

The wall clock showed 4:30 a sign where early risers go to get coffee and other essentials to start their day.

Customers after customers lined up as Crain scan, take payments and give change to the finished clients.

After the early morning rush from office workers and poor college students Crain looked at the time and started preparing himself to go to school, waiting for the next worker after his shift.

As Mr. Bill came, after greeting the middle aged man he went out of the store. And started walking down the block reaching the school.

The streets are bustling with the sound of vehicles and littered civilians on the streets going to their destinations.

Crain walked and ignored the people around him, the only thought in his mind is 'shit, I hope I won't be late'.

After 10 minutes the bell rang and the first period started right after. Glad he was on time today.
