Raven's POV
I woke up in a luxurious, dark room.
The air was thick with the scent of rich velvet and aged wood, but it was suffocating. The curtains were drawn tightly, leaving no hint of daylight to pierce the shadows. My limbs felt heavy, as though the weight of sleep still clung to them, but it wasn't just the sleep. It was… something else. Something wrong. I wasn't sure if it was the room itself, or the quiet pulse in my chest, but it was like being trapped in a suffocating cocoon.
I tried to move, but my body refused to cooperate. A sharp tingling ran down my spine, a warning. My heart beat faster, betraying me. It wasn't a loud sound, not to my ears, but to him, whoever he was, it probably sounded like a drumroll. My heartbeat gave me away.
I could sense it immediately—the feeling that someone was watching me.
I froze.
