EVELYN
I was packing my things to trip. My T- shirts, dresses, jeans. I was putting everything i need in my suitcase.
God, i am really in love with traveling. It makes me to see through the world.
Through myself.
I am not alone. i invited some friends of mine. You know, they should taste the vibe of traveling.
Anna, Diego and Nic are my friends.
"Hey, am finished. Hurry up" says my brother. Yeah, my brother Andrew will come too. I knew it. He will ruin my day today.
Imagine it.
You are in a good mood. Like you're listening music, vibing with it while, watching the big city and the beautiful sky. Then suddenly…
Your damn brother came and splash water on your perfect clothes.
Ok. It's mistake, i understand. But instead,
He let his tongue out then he runs laughing.
I would be two times my age happy if i hit him his head good by his favorite pan.
Ugh…so frustrating .
I heard knocking on my door.
Finally, my friends arrived. Andrew opens the door.
"Hey, everybody." Says Anna with joy in her browny eyes.
"Why do you come here? We could meet at the airport." Replies my brother.
"I know. But i miss your sister."
I can't control my laugh when i see Andrew's reaction after Diego said that.
Bro and Diego are best friends. He knows his weakness. He can make him mad within seconds. If they touch Evelyn, they will regret it. That's what he said to his best friend. Actually, when i was a kid, he told me that if anyone make me cry, i should tell my older brother first. Then everybody will respects me. But also Andrew is my biggest enemy.
Everybody knows how he annoys me but…
'Wow, you have a brother. You're lucky.'
' Oh Evelyn, I wish i had a brother like
yours.'
That's what people's said.
But still…I love him so much.
Nic and i put all suitcases in the back of the car. We are ready to go now.
I sit at the front seat. Nic is the driver and the others are at the back.
We talked, we laughed. Even the long way seems short. That little moment made us to connect each other. We hadn't have a special conversation like this.
We arrived at the airport.
It's time to go to England.
We are on plane now. Our seats are far from each other. But we have our group chat. If there is something wrong, we can communicate with that. If it is personally.
I came to England for the third time. Because there is a place that i haven't explored yet.
I didn't want to go there.
Alone.
Something started beeping all of sudden.
It's red and looks like alert.
Everybody started whispering, panicking.
When the airplane shakes, some of them screamed.
Including me.
"Evelyn! Are you okay?" Andrew shouts from far away. His deep dark eyes are in fear.
"Am fine. Idiot"
"Dear passengers, please calm down. We need you to listen us right now. The plane was going to crash but luckily we can manage to land on safely. I will repeat. Dear passengers…"
I can't breath.
The been sound,
my brother shouting to me cause he worried.
Those flight attendants repeating the same paragraph over again and the people's screams…
I close my eyes. Trying to hear my heartbeats. sweats drowning over my face.
Oh my god, i can't control myself. It's like the oxygen left my body until Andrew holds my wrist. When i opened my eyes. There is no people on the plane.
Only me and him
I tilt my head up to meet his gaze. He is still in fear.
"What the heck! You're still here!!!"
I am confused. When did they get out?
We are outside.
And we're somewhere.
Somewhere beautiful. The plane landed on grasses. The grass spot is so wide. I can see the perfect mountain that covered by forests. The wind blows through my hair. Through the grass.
Now my lungs are full of oxygens. Some are laying. Some are talking.
We aren't in city. We are somewhere.
Here our mood crashed started yelling at me
"Evelyn, what were you doing there?"
"I-"
"I thought you were gone!"
"Where"
"I don't know. What if the plane goes boom
When you're i it ha? Tell me"
I am speechless . I don't know what to say. His tone his harsh. I was good at defencing his angriness. I can't bear this one. I couldn't bear the kind of tone.
He goes through his hair with his both hands. I guess he regretted talking me like that but at the end He glares at me and left.
Anna and Diego were listening our argument in scilence. Even his best friend was in shock.
There is a small river under the forest. Nic sat there. Feeling the water going down.
Two pilots called all the passengers to tell us about the problem.
"Is everyone alright?" Said the pilot.
Everybody sad yes to the pilot.
"Ok that's good to hear. We want to apologize for every mess we dragged you in. This kinds of problems never will happen again.
It just had a simple problem to fix. The location we are in is still uknown. We called for help. They will track our location. We will go to England safely. Another questions you have?"
Everybody went silent. Then someone raises his hand.
"How many hours are we waiting for?"
Says a man fom the people.
A girl came running towards the pilot to tell him something. He slides his ear to her lips then she whispers something. The man looks a little uncomfortable to it.
He clears his throat.
He answers.
" the place we are in, is kinda difficult to track. So…" he quits for a second "we should wait about two days"
The passengers gasp. Everybody started shouting, insulting the flight attendants, talking each other.
The pilot sighs then he speaks
" we know. It's hard but we have foods and drinks. You can rest in the plane. It won't cause harm. Just problem around…..the front. Yeah the front
So please if you have more questions you have to hold it. Thank you"
Then he left like that. Wow.
The people continue talking and insulting.
Me, bro my friends sat on the grass.
"God, how can we get out of here"
Anna asks with worry in her green eyes.
"Just wait two day" Nic says.
Oh Nic…
He has the perfect calm voice ever. There are many girls that he rejected and the girls loved him only because of his calm voice. He never had a girlfriend. He rejects them.
Poor Nic.
Then our mood killer speaks
"Just wa-, Do you think waiting two days, not two hours but two freaking days! Is easy for you?"
Anna licks her lower lips.
"What if they give us parashoots?"
Diego rolls his eyes.
"Baby. We already landed!"
A silence spreads on us.
Oh my… i really wanted to explore something. That's when the realization hits me. I clapped my hands once. Everybody turned to me.
"Guys what if we explore this place? It won't be that far just around here."
" are you nuts?" Says Nic
I ignored him. Because Anna agreed.
" if you don't want to go, me and Evelyn will go to explore."
We holds each others hands then we run.
Andrew shouts
" hey, you won't go alone!"
When i turn my head back, my brother is following us.
" Andrew, wait for me" says Diego.
Anna and I can't control our laughs.
Three of them came running. There out of breath.
We crossed the river. We are infront of the mountain.
When i slide my gaze right. I saw a cave.
A cave that shaped long curved. It is so unique. It's so dangerous, so dark but my legs goes forward to it, even my head kept screaming not to go there. Finally I stoped to go back.
Anna run to me then entered the cave. I shouted her name. Then i heard a bunch of footsteps behind me.
"We are going to regret this" says Diego
I don't know but now, the fear from the cave disappears. I got excited instead. Then
I replied
" no we won't. This will be the perfect trip in my life. Let's begin exploring!"
