Chapter 20 - Auctions End

Now it was just Biscuit and Rogan bidding against each other.

Biscuit as a two star gem hunter was going to be the richest compensator for this gem.

Though it was getting to the point where Biscuit was hesitating. It was no longer worth the price, even though this was a one of a kind gem, with a unique story behind it.

Everything had its price. But for Roman, if this gem sold at 200 hundred billion it would raise its value to a higher level than its original 40 billion.

Certainly not 200 billion, but certainly a hundred billion.

But non of this worth mentioning in comparison to Biscuits strengh and her aid.

"200 billion!"

"210 billion."

It crossed the 200 billion mark and Biscuit was giving up, that amount of money could buy five equaling beautiful, unique and rare gems.

Giving Rogan a deep look, she sighed. She could tell like many others, this person was just a stand in, a representative.

Nobody would be able to learn who the true buyer was.

And like that she gave up, letting Rogan or rather Roman win the gem.

He had successfully spent over 350 billion in total, a third of his money, and he couldn't wait for the next one in five years.

Though secretly a number of people were investigating the teen, and the people he was with. It was common practice that all hunters had to deal with.

But the gem wasn't the last item to be auctioned but the last items didn't interest him.

One was an ancient map, another egg, this one with strong Nen of an unknown beast, a sword with extremely powerful Nen, and there was another gem. One that Roman regretted not winning instead of the other one he won. But Roman thought stealing all of the gems from Biscuit, who won this gem, would make them enemies rather than possible future collaborators.

Leaving the auditorium, attendants escorted the auction winners into private rooms to finish the transactions.

Roman didn't move but waited for Rogan to be taken away into a private room before moving.

Going in the direction he sensed his soul mark. He communicated with Rogan to open the door for him, and he entered.

The attendant had already left to retrieve the items so they both waited.

Rogan was internally going crazy, he had never Expiranced such an event. Nor had he seen so much money and wealth. He didn't know how Roman had so much money being so young.

He could only rationalize that he had parents that were powerful hunters.

A moment later, the attendant wheeled in all the items. Noticing Roman she was shocked, but didn't show it. If Roman was here it wasn't a problem.

She knew security was crazy tight and there was no way to be in here without being related to the teen.

Actually the private rooms were all protected by a powerful Nen ability. Roman wouldn't have been able to get in unless Rogan let him in.

Without saying a word, Roman handed Menchi's hunter license to the attendant, who took it with a bow.

Now Roman needed to figure out how to transport everything.

Taking his things in hand, like the jesters bead with a strong soul, purple radiation jar, the partial divine inscription, and the working object with script.

The divine inscription on an animal skin, while the object with script was a stone stick.

He was able to carry everything with ease, glancing to his right and quickly pocketing the most expensive piece.

Biscuits gem.

He sighed looking at the much bigger items all ingredients for Menchi he'd have to figure out a way for her to get to him.

Roman didn't notice anybody watching the private room door, but he couldn't never be sure.

But if they already saw him, it wouldn't matter for Menchi.

So he connected to her soul mark and directed her to the private room.

Eventually sensing her on the other side of the door he opened it and checked for anybody suspicious. But found no one.

Everyone probably thought the real buyer wouldn't show themselves, so they didn't even bother trying to intercept them.

You couldn't do anything in the hunter association headquarters anyway.

Thankfully Menchi was there and stored all the ingredients in her cauldrons. Making things very easy.

Retrieving the hunter license, the only thing that made this all possible.

The auction was completely over, Menchi and him could get even stronger with the special ingredients.

Roman could study scripts and divine inscriptions, absorb a powerful soul, study a unique jar and hold onto a favor.

Turning in for the day, their daily routine continued.

With slight additions, Roman continued his daily training and study of scripts. Anything related to Nen was his pastime.

Periodically teaching Rogan, he was a slow learner. Not yet learning all the advanced Nen techniques.

Menchi while also training was writing about cooking, and she was right about done.

It was a cookbook themed just on fake meat, impossible meat, plant-based meat, whatever you wanted to call it.

This was something Roman introduced to her, that wasn't supposed to be discovered till decades later, at least on earth.

This all occurred when Menchi ran into the problem of her Ingredients being too tough to cook. Well only the tougher materials, they came first, before the offer ingredients.

This was before she developed her cauldron ability. Then she was struggling with what to cook, desperately trying to cook meat.

So Roman gave her the idea of using beans mashed together to form the meat.

It was how impossible burger patty's were made back on earth, other types of meats were often made in a lab.

But it wasn't impossible to make a homemade version. Now Roman wasn't a chef in his past life, he just knew the general principles.

But Menchi was able to turn it into what he remembered back on earth after experimenting with a lot of spices.

You know the discovery into a field to earn a star from the hunter association didn't have to be very special.

Kite for example, Ging Freeces disciple, discovered a new species for his star. But such things happen every year with the slow rise of genetic technology, not to mention the numerous unknown bugs or even microscopic creatures.

But what really mattered was the third star. For that you needed many achievements in a number of fields or become a defining leader in one.

This was Menchi's ultimate goal.

For this she discovered the proteins and fats in beans were the key to impossible meat and even how to best extract them without lab equipment.

Finishing her cookbook, she sighed, handing it to Roman to read through.

Though he didn't understand much, and just gave his approval.

The next day Menchi went down to the headquarters putting in an application to become a one-star hunter, and submitted her cook book.

These types of things didn't take much time, and Roman wanted all the exclusive one-star hunter information before adventuring.

Arriving home, back to the apartment. Menchi realized she was not homesick, something she didn't anticipate.

Glancing at Roman deep in meditation, training his Nen.

Menchi went to the purple jar. Roman was fascinated with it, and Menchi hadn't had a chance to see what it was all about.

Lifting its lid, she felt a prickly sensation on her skin, shielding herself with her aura. Menchi realized it was better to cover the jar with her Nen instead.

Keeping the jar open but holding the radiation back with her Nen.

She put something inside and watched as it warped and eventually dissolved.

Testing a number of things but getting the same result, she decided to put something organic inside.

Placing a leaf inside, she watched as the leaf warped but didn't dissolve, instead it grew.

With bumps and blisters forming eventually taking over the entire leaf, making it unrecognizable. Menchi took it out to study, it was weird and oddly devoid of radiation.

This was similar to what Roman found, this radiation destroyed inorganic things unless Nen was involved.

While organic things changed into messes, unless Nen was involved.

Closing the lid, Menchi watched Roman train.

In truth it was a shame the radiation was trapped in the jar.

He could put small objects in filled with Nen and the radiation altered its composition in unique ways. As if a jar of an ancient alchemist changing lead to gold.

But it wasn't that dramatic, for objects the radiation only changed molecular structure not actually composition like what was seen.

Instead it made the object awkwardly dense at some places and light in others, changing shape.

Theoretically he could put coal in and diamonds would come out.

But the radiation was chaotic and was impossible for many diamonds to be produced.

Meanwhile living things mutated and evolved drastically.

Roman even used this on his finger once, to test what would occur and to see if his soul could alter his body.

The result? Success in both, his finger had turned furry and scaly, but a few days later his soul changed him back to his normal form.
