Chapter 3 - long or shorter chapters?

The universally accepted theory of this energy, dictated by its inhabitants.

Was that everybody leaned toward a different function or mechanic that life energy operated by.

Whether it's the natural ability to enhance the physical world.

Allowing regular people to become much stronger after awakening.

Or to alter its nature, to instead become weaker. To transmute its property's.

The ability to separate life energy from the host.

To emit one's lifenergy, attaching it to things in the physical world.

Or to allow it to manifest to mimic the physical world rather than augment it. To of course conjure something.

But for Roman he was a manipulator, holding the innate talent to control his life energy better than any other category.

Anybody familiar with this world would know these talent categories. Even the unique Specialist category.

A talent that was unique and not defined.

For Roman he needed to decide what he wanted to manipulate with the aid of his aura.

After a number of years of training his life energy, he had not stopped thinking about this question.

Actually he had come up with an answer long ago, but wasn't committed until he planned every step of the way.

And of course was confident in executing it.

His ability couldn't be too weak and cheap nor strong and expensive.

But he still needed to tap into absolutes.

Abilities that were all powerful. Abilities that were limited to extreme cooldowns, intense restrictions and/or ample preparation.

Trump cards that were full of risk but could guarantee his safety.

Though he needed to choose a single concept to base his ability off of, and not choose a bunch and become disorganized.

And for that he would take inspiration from his past experiences.

One that deeply affected and changed his life.

He didn't know if he was being cliche or predictable.

Nor if the others who came to this world were choosing a similar path.

Because he was choosing to manipulate the soul.

To create an ability, it has to be something connected to your life to link with your life energy.

Something you deeply understand and can connect to.

But a deep enough devotion and imagination would work too.

Each ability isn't always realistic and matching reality, but formed and refined in one's own mind.

Having existed in the only thing he could imagine was a soul form. When arriving into this world.

Roman had deeply contemplated that state of existence.

And while he could not sense his soul, he knew it was within him from the moment he entered this body.

He remembered the sensation of being a soul.

He immersed himself in that feeling and gradually his life energy transformed to the properties of a soul.

This was the ability of a transmuter, unfortunately the category that had the least amount of synergy with manipulators.

But he wasn't done, because true to his talent his soul came back to his senses.

As if feeling a call from his life energy, his soul made its presence known.

And with it, Roman took his first step to manifest his identity in the form of his life energy.

Touching and feeling his soul deep within himself with his energy, he realized he'd need to take some time to get familiar with commanding it.

Just like he did to get used to his life energy.

Taking a little of this time, Roman then stood up to follow his childhood friend.

He wasn't a food enthusiast like her, but where she was, was the only place to throw his food away and clean his plate.

He was still living the life of a child, and helping out around the kitchen was also a mandatory chore of this household.

So he upheld his duty to passively recover his stamina for another round of life energy training.

Glancing at Menchi cooking a bunch of food with the rest of the staff, while he sat in the back cleaning some dishes.

He thought about her situation, while she had awakened her life energy. She couldn't see it, nor did she know how to use it.

To her it was just a subtle sixth sense, that she would unconsciously tap into to help her cook because of her passion. A passion that influenced her life energy.

Or an instinctual power to help defend herself when she felt threatened.

Menchi wasn't completely unconnected from her life energy, she didn't know what it was but she knew she had it.

Believing it was natural.

Over time it had strengthened from her passive uses of it, but not to the degree of Romans fully fledged training sessions.

Though it had significantly nourished her body, to the point where even though she could sense her own life energy she could not see it.

Nor could she sense or see Roman application of it. This ofcourse was beginning to change.

Roman knew she would soon begin to see her own life energy and start to question it. Not to mention she definitely would start to sense and see his own application of life energy.

For this Roman didn't have a solution, so when the time came. Where she would start to ask him questions, he would have to answer and guide her.

It only took a few days before Roman felt his skill in manipulation of the soul reached the same level as his manipulation of his life energy.

So he naturally began practicing enhancing, emitting, transmuting and conjuring his soul.

Just because he wasn't as talented in the other categories didn't mean he would ignore them.

Though his skill in manipulating his life energy and soul were not something he would start slacking on.

Roman was by no means a master manipulator when it came to these mystical phenomena.

But at this point he was confident he had reached the same level as the cast in the original story.

HunterXHunter, a mysterious world with a story he could take reference from.

It was the only reason he had reached his current strength.

Though after referencing the years in the story and the year currently.

Roman easily deduced he was not the same age as the main characters.

Nor was he as old as the main character's parents.

Actually Roman and the rest of the transmigrators were about ten years older than Gon and Killia. But ten years younger than Gon's enigmatic dad, Ging.

They were in the same generation as Hisoka, Illumi Zoldyck and the phantom troupe.

This gave everybody ample time to understand the world and prepare for the significant events that followed the main characters.

Especially when it came to the chimera ant arc and the unknown dark continent voyage.

Turning to his childhood friend Menchi with mint green hair.

They were currently home alone, with the restaurant closed and their parents out of the house. Doing something Roman didn't bother to pay attention to.

Menchi was predictably reading a cook book.

"Menchi." He called out to get her attention, but she only pouted in response.

Not happy that her cook book reading was being interrupted.

Menchi had always been an easily irritable character.

Though she always had a soft spot for Roman, always looking up to him as a big brother.

"Focus your energy into your eyes." He spoke as if Menchi would know what he was talking about.

And Menchi at first was confused, pausing her reading. Then looked surprised, realizing something, and doing as he instructed with ease before looking toward him.

For the first time ever she grasped a part of this unknown power, and even saw what it looked like.

Roman had decided on a whim to be the one to break the silence on this matter.

But Menchi was silent, speechless. Not knowing what to say.

So Roman spoke simply. "Do what I do."

Before he showcased the different techniques that everybody learns from this energy.

From his current baseline, of holding the energy all around his body in a calm manner.

The calm transitioned into intensity, seeming about to burst. Before calming slightly but the intensity didn't decline.

One state feigned aggression and assault, the other patience and defense.

From this his energy twisted and concentrated on only his arms, then only one arm. Before finally leaving his body and coating a pen in his hand.

But as if his demonstration was finished the energy disappeared.

Though Menchi was sure it was still there.

But the next second that feeling completely vanished.

Before it felt like that energy was all around her.
