The wind whipped at Norrak's face as his blue eyes locked onto the tower seeping through the sand, and his vision further went past, into the sand where a massive castle lay underneath.
"Hmm?" Wan Shi Tong looked up with surprise as he felt someone looking at him. He looked up to the ceiling of his library, and his senses expanded to feel the Chi's of Norrak and especially Katara.
"The avatar... Are they coming to me for something?" Wan Shi Tong asked himself in curiosity before returning to his book. Even if the avatar was the one coming to himself, he would not go out of his way to help her.
Not when every single avatar who came to her library was only after things to gain an upper hand amongst other humans. This avatar must not be any different in Wan Shi Tong's mind.
"Looks like he noticed me looking... Well, doesn't matter. I still need to go and speak with him if I want to expand my power and abilities beyond waterbending," Norrak muttered as he communicated with Appa.
His Chi connected to Appa's, a nd his thoughts were conveyed directly into his mind. Appa whined before lowering his body, stopping a few meters from the tower peak through the sand.
"What's that? It looks like a well... But how can a well exist in a desert?" Ty Lee asked with confusion as she jumped down from Appa with a backflip.
Katara looked at Norrak with curiosity, since he always seemed to know the answers they were looking for. In Katara's mind, Norrak was like a powerful bender, even above the spirit called Raava in terms of power.
So he must know the answer.
"I don't know what it is, but I can sense someone inside the tower. We will have to go inside and check it out, won't we?" Norrak responded with a smile as he looked at Katara, rubbing her head.
Katara deflated with disappointment before she quickly forgot it and leaned into Norrak's hand, his palm hot on her head. Toph, who was lying on Norrak, frowned, feeling a hint of displeasure at Norrak's action.
"Hey! I am right here as well, pat my head or I will trike you in the balls, turning you into a sissy!" Toph said with an annoyed tone, and Norrak chuckled in amusement before rubbing Toph's head as well.
"Uhm? Are you not going to come with me to explore this tower? I checked, and it is leading down, so not a well," Ty Lee said with a raised eyebrow as she watched Norrak rubbing the head of those two.
"Comin'! Let's get going, girls. We need to be finished here so we can rest somewhat. We haven't slept for a day after all," Norrak said before jumping off Appa with the rest following.
Ty Lee shot Norrak a put-down look as he walked past her. Norrak looked at Ty Lee, and he pulled her into his chest, rubbing her head as well, and putting a smirk on Ty Lee's face.
"I am jumping down first," Katara said, gaining Norrak's attention. He nodded in agreement, and Katara jumped out into the tower, with Ty Lee following, and Norrak pulling Toph into his arms.
"Hmm? Are you already addicted to having me in your arms? Well, it can't be helped, it's me after all!" Toph said with a smirk as she rested her head on Norrak's chest.
Norrak shook his head with a chuckle as he jumped down into the tower. Appa was left there, lying on the sound in comfort as a ball of ice without entry points wrapped around him.
Swoosh!
Katara fell from the inside, and wings grew on her back before she landed on her feet calmly, barely making any noise. She looked around, and she suddenly jumped with a yelp as she turned around.
Bang!
Ty Lee landed behind Katara on her legs, crouching to disperse the energy of her fall before looking at Katara in worry due to her shout. Only to widen her eyes.
"Is this a spirit?!" Ty Lee asked, while Norrak landed in front of Katara, putting Toph down on the ground. Norrak turned to Wan Shi Tong, who was already waiting for them.
"Hello, may I know your name?" Norrak said with a bow, and Wan Shi Tong looked at him for a few seconds longer. Specifically concentrated on the pair of eyes in his skull.
"My name is Wan Shi Tong, an owl spirit. I am the guardian of this library," Wan Shi Tong replied in a monotone as his eyes diverted to Katara, specifically at Raava in her soul.
"What is the reason for having the avatar come to my library? I hope it's not for power," Wan Shi Tong asked, which then turned into a slight displeasure at his last words.
"No, we came here to gain some sleep, and maybe to learnt he location of a spirit that I would like to talk to," Norrak said with a respectful tone since he could only find the spirit with Wan Shi Tong's knowledge.
"If it is knowledge you seek, then you shall each leave behind a piece of knowledge before I shall answer you," Wan Shi Tong said in a firm tone, indicating he would not give out free knowledge.
"We will do as you say, but could you give us four parchments to write our knowledge down?" Norrak requested, and the Owl Spirit started to walk towards a table. The shelves of books and scrolls on the way were passed by.
The group followed Wan Shi Tong in awe as they admired the numerous floors and shelves of books, containing vast amounts of knowledge from many eras.
"Norrak, who did you want to find? Is it the dragons? But I thought you knew where they are already?" Katara asked in confusion as she turned to Norrak. Norrak shook his head.
"No, I want to find a specific spirit for what I want. But I need the help of Wan Shi Tong to find that spirit," Norrak replied, and Ktara nodded, still confused.
"Here, the parchments. Write down a piece of knowledge, and I shall answer a piece of knowledge for a piece of information in return," Wan Shi Tong said as he handed out rou parchemnts.
Norrak and the group took a parchment each, while Toph took one with a confused look on her face. Toph scratched her temple as she tried to think of what to write.
"What am I supposed to write down? I don't have anything useful," Toph said while turning towards Norrak.
"Write down how you gained your seismic sense, that's a useful piece of knowledge," Norrak replied before starting to write on his parchment.
"Oh, okay."
