Sunderlal Bahuguna was born on 9 january 1927 in small village Maroda near Tehri of Uttrakhand.
He started social activities at age of 13 initially under guidance of Shri Dev Suman who was an Indian anti-monarchy social activist,freedom fighter and writer from princely state of Tehri Garhwal and was spreading messages of non-violence of Gandhian Principles.
Sunderlal Bahuguna also mobilised many peoples against colonial rule before 1947.He adopted Gandhian Principles in his whole life.
Due to strong impression of such activist Sunderlal also started social activities due to which he has to go to prison at the page of 17 .
Sunderlal had very good interest in study so he completed his early college education in Tehri and completed his graduation from Lahore in Political Science, History and English .
After imprisonment he entered into politics also and worked as General Secretary of Tehri Rajya Prajamandal and District Congress Committee.
