Hopefully, this clarifies the things that may or may not confuse you as you read the story.
This chapter should tell you all you need to know for as far as I am into the book.
If there's any addition in the future, it'll be updated.
Firstly, my utmost gratitude and thanks to anyone who has decided to flip through these pages.
Whether it be by mistake, curiosity, or whatnot, I'm glad to have you.
My writing journey has been a hectic one, and while I'm still on the path to improvement, it's always great to have people join me on that journey.
That said, this book might not be the best, but I'm glad I was able to create another piece.
Now, let's get to the main details.
∆ Setting & World: This story occurs in a dystopian Earth, with advanced, mind-blowing technology that has taken great leaps in ways our current generation can only dream of achieving (basically, my excuse for saying that most of the things that you might read... won't really make much sense, but then again, will be explained properly to give the best reading experience).
∆ Power Levels and Basic Terminologies:
—Mutant Level: Basically, this shows the level of compatibility one has with the genetic modification that was done by the system.
It tells us to what degree one will be able to use their abilities without having adverse effects on their bodies.
It's broken into five major levels (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5), although more might appear as the story goes on.
Level One simply shows that the user has 20% compatibility and can only use 20% of the original power. Going beyond that can either damage the host body or is completely impossible.
It goes without saying that the other levels have the same effects — Level 2, 40%; Level 3, 60%; and so on.
—Battle Power / Power Level: Following the gaming structure, this is the degree of strength one possesses in the game. It's broken into four major phases:
Basic, Advanced, Expert, and Paragon.
Each has sub-levels (1–100) before the next level.
This is the same for the beasts as well, albeit just slightly different:
Basic, Advanced, Doom, and Terror.
—Transmission: This was the strange phenomenon that occurred after the players put on the VR chip. It mutated their bodies, turning some into beasts, others into monsters, and several into other races. Those who remained human were given unnatural powers.
—Essence: Energy is drawn from essence to use magical powers and abilities. While it is not stated much in the book, once one runs out of essence, they're unable to use their abilities anymore and would have to rest to recover. Let's just say it's the source of magic in this world (the glucose the magic runs on). Our MC uses a specific type of essence called blood essence, making him slightly different from the others.
—Scenarios: These are specific events in the game where the players are presented with a new trial they must face to survive. Usually, these trials are brought about by Titans, but sub-scenarios also exist, where one is made to fulfill specific functions or missions.
—Titans: You could see them as the bosses of the game. Each is the major root of each scenario and must be defeated for the next scenario to come up.
In most cases, even if the scenario isn't completed, the players can still go on with their normal roles, completing small tasks and earning rewards.
However, they'll be sure to keep facing constant threats from these Titans.
For the moment, this should be enough to explain basically everything about the book so far.
If you've read this far and you'd really love to know how things turn out for my MC and his friends, then add it to your collections, throw me a golden ticket, and, of course, flip straight to the next page! I would love to have your thoughts on the book.
