One day, at the Heldt mansion, the master of the house Gustav Von Heldt was standing at the entrance, with a tiny little girl, who was scared and trembling, hiding behind his back.
Under the glaring eyes of a woman and another girl with very weird clothes, the little girl couldn't gather the courage to come out.
"What is this dear?!" the woman asked this question, not happy at all. She was like a fire breathing dragon at this stage.
Each and every word of the woman were like the 88mm shells fired from a German Flak 36. This woman was the lady of the mansion Angela Von Heldt.
Under her fiery gaze, even the master was trembling. A drop of sweat fell down through his forehead. He almost bit his tongue.
"D..don't get me wrong dear." Gustav started to explain as if guilty of being a Communist in the 3rd Reich. "I haven't d-done anything wrong."
"Oh, really?" an almost cynical smile with a very distorted face appeared on the lady. A face that even the stoicest of Gestapo officers never had in front of caught jews.
"Then how do you explain your beloved daughter there, who I don't remember giving birth to?" She asked.
The other little girl was rather calm. As weird were the clothes she was wearing, her gaze was even more weird. Her eyes, almost gleaming like diamonds.
"This girl," Gustav started to explain, "she is not my daughter, she is the illegitimate daughter of my younger brother." He said like a deserter in front of a court of honors, "They were treating her very badly in that house, so I brought her here."
"Hmm?" it seems the woman was still not convinced with this explanation. "And how do I know, you are telling the truth dear?"
Master Gustav swallowed hard. He really had no way to prove his innocence. After all his brother was not planning on confession anytime soon.
However, at that moment, the girl wearing the weird clothes jumped forward stunning everyone present. Her actions almost gave the little girl hiding behind the back of the master a heart attack.
"How are you Christina?!" she said and advanced towards the little girl. The eyes of her mother furrowed while her father saw his savior has come.
Going straight behind her father's back, she picked up the underweight little girl in her arms. The girl's head collided with the cap she was wearing knocking it out of her head.
"What's the meaning of this Anna?" asked the woman. "Do you know her?" Her gaze was like those of the Red Army troops about to storm the Reichstag.
"Yes mother, you remember we saw her the last time we went to celebrate uncle's birthday party." She explained enthusiastically.
"What?!" the woman couldn't fathom nor could she remember ever seeing this little girl there. "Impossible how can I miss one of my own nieces?" Her voice now with a hint of doubt in place of the fiery barrage from before.
"Yes, she was just sitting in a corner with very shabby clothes. None bat her an eye." She replied confidently.
Angela thought for a second, and she could remember that there was indeed a little girl who looked like her in the corner. And she now remembered the sad expression that girl had at the time even though it was a festival.
Gustav on the other hand let out a breath of relief. His daughter saved his life today. He could see the expression on the face of his wife change from disgust to piety.
"Thank you my dear daughter," he whispered to himself, "I will no longer scold you for the shenanigans you do." He promised his daughter in his mind.
Meanwhile, Angela could now remember the girl vividly. Her memory, a gift given to her by the Gods of this world, that allowed her to remember if she thought deeply.
"Yes, now I remember seeing her there. I thought she was a pauper given charity." Her anger didn't subside but rather redirected towards her brother-in-law.
Meanwhile Anna was almost beaming in joy. "I always wanted an older sister, but since this little one is so cute, this younger sister will do as well."
The whole family looked at her, "What weird stuff are you saying again Anna?!" Her mother spoke first.
Anna in the family was known to be a weird girl. She disappeared from home almost half the time, wears this weirdly colored clothes, this grey tunic and a grey pant with long black boots and two red stripes.
Along with that large cap that contains an eagle and a belt she wears with unknown inscriptions and another eagle."Nothing, I just like this girl." Anna replied while holding the little girl to her chest.
