Chapter 38 - The blue and red Kraken, Chapter 38

The field of flowers once more became quiet, they left one after another, Sigel knights then low nobles, leaving the royal blood alongside the big families

Lord Varyon came forward to the king and spoke

"I will be leaving first; I don't think he would appreciate me staying any longer in here" looking at Lord Kailer, who stood in front of the grave all by himself, just staring at the flowers with tired eyes

Both his sons left already, standing all by himself he had a faint smile, he seemed to be reembracing the past of the both of them, or at least that is what the king thought walking closer

King Gerdon with his hand on the Lord's shoulder said "Don't worry, we will be catching the criminals and bringing the head of these acts to justice, you will have your revenge"

He left the lord alone, thinking this might be the thing to calm him down, him and all the different emotions he is experiencing

Back in the streets of the centre of the capital nobles were packing up, any thing that could be used at a weapon was given to the guards/knights of the Kazar, a ticket was handed back in return

"Why do we have to do so?" said a noble as a knight took some golden sharp candles from him

"We are making sure that none of you have anything to do with what happened" replied the guard

"Then why not check and give it back? Why a ticket for our stuff" said the noble

"They are making sure if one of us is in control of the criminals, they won't be able to supply them with anything that could be utilized at a weapon" said another noble

"What??? Shouldn't they be checking bigger houses? What does mine have to do with this, and why not bring the reader upfront, they were his slaves after all" said the first noble

"These are the prince's orders", said the knight "if you have any complains why not go talk to him yourself"

The noble shut his mouth as the guards and knight continued their work

Back in their house Torden sat down on a chair drowning in his own thoughts, his brother was walking in circles while whispering to himself

Torden seemed to tired to even tell him to stop, Step after another, Fraymon seemed to make up his mind, came towards the table Torden sat by and moved it aside

Torden looked at him confused, Fraymon removed a plank, another, before he shocked his brother by pulling out a sword

"Weird of you to just hand over your weapon that you kept in secret all of a sadden" said Torden

"I am not handing it over" replied Fraymon, Torden did not understand

"I am taking revenge" said Fraymon before a chair came towards him flying, he guarded himself with the sword still in hi sheet

The chair broke down as Fraymon yelled "What do you think you are doing!"

"The same could be said to you! Revenge? How you idiot! Will you be roaming the streets holding a weapon and expect everything to go well?" said Torden

"I will be going to the cells and taking the info out of that reader's tongue, even if I have to rip and reattach it" said Fraymon

Torden threw another chair before saying "You are not thinking with your brain anymore, your emotional reactions will only sink us deeper, always in such a rush"

"At the very least I refuse to stand by acting all depressed like a lady who just broke up," said Fraymon getting closer to his brother and spoke

"Here you go again wasting time sitting down, you always want to think stuff through until it is too late, just to act in a rush at the end and waste everything"

"That is why you were always such a disappointment" said Fraymon before his eyes started speaking the truth he hid" just like me, I don't have the brain, but you do,"

Torden finally for once in his life had someone tell him what he refused to accept himself, and it was his brother, Fraymon continued

"You are too afraid of failure you refuse to act in time, you always had the right plans when you were sent by father, but trying to reaching perfection you lost the chance" said Fraymon as he walked back to set on a chair of the two chairs left unbroken

Torden sat down facing the ground, he knew his brother was right about him, he always knew his problem but he refused to act

"So," said Fraymon "What did you come up with"

Torden looked up at him confused

"What? Were you wasting time once more?" continue Fraymon

Taking a deep breath Torden said "No, I thought about it carefully"

"And?" said Fraymon

"I don't know if this is a grudge or something else, but the hit was obviously coming towards our family, this was planned beforehand" said Torden

"That I could think of myself, but who?" said Fraymon

"I don't think it is the reader, his relation with Grandmother seems strong, she trusts him enough for us to do the same" said Torden

"Anyone can be bought with a big enough price" said Fraymon ridiculing the idea and looking to his side with a forced smile

"But his position is high enough for him not to think of such betrayal, gold wont sway him nor status," said Torden

"Then what could?" replied Fraymon

"A crown, but I don't think the Varish king will just give up his just to start trouble in here" said Torden

"What if he is to be given the Kasar's, with his silver tongue he could sway the people's opinion easily if he reaches the light" said Fraymon

"The Bloodline's superiority is rooted too deep inside the people's skulls, no words in mere months nor in years of time can erase that" said Torden

"If it is not him, but are his slaves, how did they manage to plan all of this?" said Fraymon

"That's what I have been thinking of, if they had the opportunity to escape at any given moment, why did they wait until they reached this capital, "said Torden

"The grudges they have are towards the Varish kingdom, not the Kazar bloodline"

"My only theory is that they only had those things when they reached here, someone from the inside gave them the supplies, but who?" said Torden

Knock!! Knock!!, the door was almost brought down

"It is the guards of the Kazar family, open the door for inspection" a sound from outside said

"Hide it fast" Torden whispered to his brother

Fraymon laid back the sword underneath the table and covered it with the same logs as before

Torden opened the door as the guard in front said

"Lord Torden! My deepest apologies for your loss"

"Get done with it already"

"Yes, my lord, we just have to see if you hold any weapons" said the guard as he went inside

"Why?" said Fraymon "We are the family that just had the funeral, or do you think we made that up for attention?"

"I- I am sorry my lord, these are the prince's orders I am only following them," said the guard

"And how are we supposed to protect ourselves if the attackers are aiming at us" continued Fraymon cornering the poor guard who was just following orders

"I-uh—" said the guard before Torden spoke

"Stop it, he is just following orders"

"He better know first if the orders he is

following are worth that much obedience" replied Fraymon

Another sound from outside said

"We will be the ones to protect you, my lord"

It was a Sigel knight with the shield sign

"To be precise, everyone will"

"Huh? Can you explain" said Torden

A sound from the outside came forward, the horn man once more walking the streets shouting

"Walking around the streets is forbidden by sun fall, any one who refuses to obey this rule will be held for interrogation of suspected murder"

"That is what I meant" said the shield Knight

"You are just holding us hostages, what does it have to do with protection— "said Fraymon his brother cut him closing his mouth and saying

"Thank you, we are very grateful for such protection"

"What are you doing!?" Fraymon whispered angry

"Shhhh!!" said Torden as the guards went inside

"What happened here?" said a guard looking at the mess that is made

"Anger issues that my brother has" said Torden closing his brother's mouth

The guards checked every corner, but they did not think to check underneath the table, leaving the house with the two boys inside

Torden whispered to his brother making sure no ear from outside is listening

"Stay silent and here me, I think the crown might have a hand in this"

Fraymon stared at him with an open mouth for some time before saying

"HUH!!!!"

Torden rushed to calm him down, Fraymon continued whsipering

"Have you gone crazy? What could have given you such thoughts?"

"I don't trust how they are keeping us inside," said Torden

"And I thought I was the idiot, they are doing so because the criminals will be roaming the full streets in the dark" replied Fraymon

Torden replied

"Yes, but taking all power from all the noble's hands is too much, our own guards are not allowed near us, all means of protection are withdrawn from us, they are not only keeping us, but our lives"

Fraymon started to realise it a little

"But why?? Why go to such a length" said Fraymon

"I have two theories; one is more believable to me" said Torden

"The believable one?"

"The crown might be planning either by himself, or with another force to bring some of the house down, one being ours" said Torden

Fraymon was shocked, in his face the thought of this being the most absurd thing he ever heard hovered over the bones and skin to paint his facial features anew

"First of all, why do you think so? And second, if this is the more believable part, what could the other be?" Fraymon said

"I, think that the crown himself might be another pawn, this game might be much bigger than we think it is" said Torden

"Could you explain?" said Fraymon

"I would love to, but we need father to come back before we discuss it with him" said Torden

Once more the sun sat down behind the walls, the moon's light sharper then ever pierced the windows of the castle, and the blue and red Kraken painted the empty floors
