Chapter 3 - "R" The Tale describing The Worker and submission.

"W-What..?"

They looked at the letter and the deliverer.

"...Wasn't… Wasn't it supposed to be…?"

The deliverer lightly shook their head.

"But I'm supposed to go back…"

The deliverer shrugged and promptly left. Leaving only the letter and the wolf to choose.

"Aw… I wanted to go to that new place…"

They looked around and saw each… Agent.

The crumbling city was being scavenged for any living person and valuables after the recent event.

"Doesn't this double my work..?"

"Oh yeah! Golden fork!"

"Damn it! How come that bastard gets it?!"

"What a cruel shrewd world."

"...Does it?"

They weren't entirely sure.

The only advice they could think of, was to ask their superior.

Each step of their boots shifted the destroyed place that was once the capital of envy.

Not that it mattered.

"New guest! Isn't that exciting?" The Host glanced at the audience.

The audience nodded fervently.

"Well!" they clapped their hands. "HelloeverybodymynameisKriston and my assistant, Kelsssss…" The Host's eyes rolled. "...Ssssssssina!!!!!!"

A rather loud dragging of a name occurred.

"Kelsina" wasn't really bothered by that.

"Last time everything ended rather well. Exciting! Pounding! Uh."

They thought for two seconds.

"Exhilarating! Ain't that right?" They looked at their assistant.

The assistant avoided looking at their eyes.

Returning to the lens of the camera, they continued on.

"The story, the red rider! The wolf who ate all who stood in it's path! Come ooooon in!"

A rather hesitant "Demi-Human" walked out from the curtains amidst insincere faces and hands.

"Take a seat."

"S-Sure…"

"Todays a special day. Tell! Tell the glorious backstory!"

"What..?"

A sign held by the assistant with more normal words compared to The Host.

"Oh. Okay." They glanced at the audience. "I'm Argon. Uhm…"

"We got time." The Host leaned back in their chair.

…With a duck looking face.

"I joined… twenty? No wait, fifty… something years ago. For the uh, Organization! It took me a bit to get here now… And um, I lived in Sonver with my parents, eventually moving… uh."

"I kinda want gum." The Host said to their Assistant.

Who promptly ignored them.

"Is… Is that good enough?"

"Sureeeeeee," The Host replied in a languid tone. "I got three cards though!"

Argon blinked in surprise.

The Host raised their hand.

"Choose!"

Three arrows, one pointing to the right, one to the bottom, one to the left.

"Th-The right?"

"Tch. Your days are numbered. Your days are numbered ye hear me!?"

A sign held by "Kelsina" had a smug smiley face.

"..." The Host scowled.

Argon wasn't sure if they were allowed to say anything.

So they played with their hands.

"Alright. Special days require special questions. Uh… While we wait for the map to load. Audience, shower the pup with irrelevant questions!"

.

.

.

"Breh."

The Host's assistant tapped on his shoulder.

"?"

Showing a sign with words on it.

"Why have mouths then?"

A snap and large papers with markers were given to all in the seats.

"Five minute break. Think hard!"

The Host tapped the blinking desk while thinking about something.

"Uhm…"

Argon glimpsed at the Grey jacket worn by The Host.

Their gloved hand besides the fingers was rubbed much too often.

Trying to think of something to keep their mind off things was harder than it looked.

…Especially since The Host was in front of her.

How did it come to this wasn't the issue.

The Override was made so there's no issues.

Just.

What is the wolf who lives under the umbrella trying to think of?

"Teimes up!" arrogance. "Give the rain you hold! To uh. Her, not me. You're answering the questions."

"What?" Argon belatedly grasped.

The first question.

"Why is a demi-human…? Uh, I'm an Acarnic. Beastkin, Demi-human, arent… my… race."

Argon's golden eyes flickered underneath the shadows created by her tousled coarse black hair.

The second question.

"Why do I look like…" her eyes narrowed. "I"m not cursed. Nor am I… an inferior species. I was just born with dark skin."

The third question.

"Who are you? I'm Argon… an Advisor combatant."

The fourth question.

Argon's ears twitched.

"What kind of outfit. Hey! This is most comfortable in this kind of weather! Do you know how warm it is outside right now?!

It was just slightly warm.

"I feel like I'm melting without any shade."

"Well that's great! Maps done." The Assistant had a thought similar to before.

"Now time for the game!"

"Heh?"
