The shell shock on Colson's face and the indignation flashing bright in his eyes somehow makes my heart bubble with a bit of joy.
If I can't derive joy from my well-being since it isn't guaranteed, I might as well just get it from their shortcomings.
But I wonder, is the indignation in his eyes for the fact that I spoke so rudely to him. Or is it for the fact that by my actions, I've termed him an animal?
An animal who knows only to harm a woman.
I lift my gaze to him to get a proper look into those eyes of his.
And on a proper examination, it is for the fact that I've termed him an abusive animal.
That must've hurt his pride. He must've been thinking himself a gentleman like people say, so this must've really come as a shock.
Too bad, but I'm only mirroring his true self to him.
When he doesn't make any attempt to grab my arm like I told him to, I tilt my head to the side in feigned confusion.
