Given Thor's experience of being accidentally killed while holding his hammer in other parallel timelines, Ailer still approached cautiously to stop him.
This man, holding a high-tech compound bow, was a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, codenamed Hawkeye, real name Clint Barton, and one of the future Avengers members.
Hawkeye had no superpowers, and his physical abilities were merely at the peak of human potential, with outstanding sensory and reaction capabilities.
As an Agent, Hawkeye mastered various combat techniques, especially archery, making him one of the strongest archers on Earth. S.H.I.E.L.D. specifically prepared a set of multi-functional arrowheads for him, allowing Hawkeye to operate in various environments.
For a mortal warrior like Hawkeye, a challenge wasn't terrifying. With ample preparation, Hawkeye could even cause some superhuman combatants to stumble.
But the current situation was a bit sudden…
The battle-hardened Hawkeye didn't lose his composure. He slightly lowered the bow and arrow in his hand, while also reassuring the You-Know-Who behind him.
"The night is beautiful tonight. Are you taking a walk after dinner?"
"Just don't move, I have no ill intentions," Ailer said slowly from behind Hawkeye.
At this moment, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also arrived. They surrounded Thor, who was in a state of mental collapse, and handcuffed him.
The dignified Prince of Asgard became a prisoner. Thor, having lost his last straw, was completely disheartened. No matter how rough the Agents' methods were, he made no move to resist.
"You're not here to protect him, are you?" Hawkeye asked, somewhat disbelievingly. "He looks like a lost vagrant. Even a security guard who hasn't been paid in three months looks more spirited than him."
"That's none of your business," Ailer replied. "Just remember not to hurt him."
This was a necessary step for Thor. To make him learn to cherish, he had to be kicked off the clouds and made to feel what it was like to be at rock bottom.
After watching Thor being escorted to another room, Ailer left Hawkeye's side.
Noticing that the You-Know-Who standing behind him had disappeared, Hawkeye also breathed a sigh of relief. He placed his finger on his communicator and said to his superior:
"I found an uninvited guest in the Base, or rather, he found me."
"Agent Barton, what happened?" Agent Coulson, a middle-aged man, asked from the other end of the communicator.
"A superpowered individual suddenly appeared behind me and told me not to lay a hand on that vagrant," Hawkeye reported truthfully to Coulson.
"Alright, I understand. I will strengthen the alert," Coulson strengthened his guard after learning of this matter, and at the same time, he also had to expedite the interrogation of Thor.
Coulson came to the room where Thor was detained. He looked at the disheartened but somehow able to bypass all surveillance to appear in the Base, and said in the calmest tone:
"Where did you receive your training? The Middle East or Africa? Although you look like a vagrant picking up trash, your actions are more like a mercenary. Only trained individuals can do these things. Who are you?"
"…" Thor did not answer, merely bowing his head in deep thought.
Seeing this, Coulson did not press further. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents had their methods. "It doesn't matter if you don't say anything, we will use our methods to dig out everything about you."
In fact, understanding Thor was very simple: just buy a book on Norse mythology, the records in it were not much different from Thor's life.
But here, Thor and Loki were brothers, not uncle and nephew.
After saying these words, Coulson left Thor alone in the room, preparing to use loneliness to break Thor's psychological defense.
After Coulson left, Ailer, still in his transformed state, appeared before Thor. He crossed his arms, appraised the disheartened Thor for a moment, and then spoke:
"How long are you going to stay here? There's no fried chicken or cola here."
"You are?" Thor lifted his head. He felt the voice was familiar, but his mind was in a mess right now, and he couldn't recall it immediately.
"The one who choked you unconscious not long ago." Ailer extended his hand to Thor, inviting him:
"If you still want fried chicken, come with me."
Perhaps believing that things couldn't get any worse, Thor extended his hand, choosing to trust Ailer.
"In that case, I'll treat you to a meal tonight."
Seeing this, Ailer took Thor away from the research Base. He used the Ninja Double-Edged Sword left outside the Base as a coordinate. With a single instantaneous movement, the two left the S.H.I.E.L.D. research Base.
After escaping the Base, Ailer deactivated his transformation, then took Thor into a twenty-four-hour fast-food restaurant.
"Boss, I'd like three fried chickens and two bottles of cola."
Not long after Ailer paid for the meal, the boss brought three crispy yet tender fried chickens and cola to the two of them.
Ailer sat opposite Thor. He didn't eat the fried chicken, only picked up a bottle of cola, took two sips, and then said to Thor:
"Don't you like this very much? Eat."
"…"
Then, Thor seemed to have flipped a switch, devouring the food ravenously without even bothering with plastic gloves.
Watching this scene, Ailer thought that Thor probably had a passive ability to convert sadness into appetite, no wonder he became a fat man in a certain timeline.
After a ravenous meal that astonished the boss, Thor looked at the pile of chicken bones in front of him and fell into thought. Not long after, he slowly spoke:
"Am I a failure?"
"Otherwise?" Ailer spread his hands, truthfully saying, "Even the hope in the eyes of a vagrant picking up trash is more than yours."
"You guys are right," Thor said dejectedly. "Perhaps I'm not suited to be the King of Asgard…"
"But do you want to stay like this forever?" Ailer asked again.
"But I have nothing left," Thor said weakly.
Seeing this, Ailer said earnestly, "Why don't you look at Dr. Erik and the others? They lost everything today, but were they indifferent? Weren't they constantly trying to get their data back? Are you really not as good as a few mortals?"
"…" Thor did not reply, but his eyes seemed to have brightened a little.
"I can only say, you still have a chance, Thor. Your hammer is still on Earth. Think carefully about your mistakes, and then correct him."
With that, Ailer drank the cola in his hand and then took Thor back to where Dr. Erik and the others lived.
Meanwhile, Coulson also discovered Thor was missing. He checked the surveillance and found Ailer's figure in the footage.
"Although the armor is different, the mask is indeed the same as the person who appeared during the Abomination incident. Why would he help this vagrant?"
