Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: I, Constantine, Do Not Keep Promises!

Night, Ernstrom 1247 Manor.

Constantine once again stepped onto this blasphemous land, this time he was already familiar with the route.

The one who opened the door was still the pig-headed man in a suit.

"Are you surprised to see me?"

Standing at the door, Constantine leisurely blew out a puff of smoke.

"I'm just curious that you actually have the guts to come back!"

The pig-headed man stood with the door wide open, looking at him with a bewildered expression.

"Did you forget what you did yesterday?"

Constantine said nonchalantly, "What did I do?"

"You killed My Lord Beru'er once!"

The pig-headed man's tone even carried a hint of admiration.

"And you came again today, human. If you're not completely insane, then you'd better have a justifiable reason."

Constantine pushed the pig-headed man aside, "Then move your Big Ass and make way for me!"

The pig-headed man didn't get angry; it was convinced that this human wouldn't leave tonight.

So it stepped aside, watching him walk in as if he were a dead man.

It was a pity that the dark human hadn't come; otherwise, it could have tasted him.

The pig-headed man thought with regret; it still longed for the taste of Batman's soul.

Constantine walked all the way into Beru'er's corpse pool. When he arrived here again, the pile of corpses had largely turned into a blood pool.

And Beru'er's bloated body was soaking in the pool, holding a human leg bone in his hand, licking it like a dog.

Every now and then, he would suck on the bits of flesh remaining on it.

The other party showed no surprise when he saw Constantine enter.

"You disappoint me, John. You seem to have made no progress."

Beru'er lay comfortably in the blood pool, occasionally scooping out a skull with brain matter or a limb bone with flesh and skin from the pool.

Constantine watched him bite into an eyeball, and splattering blood dripped from his mouth.

He felt so nauseous he wanted to vomit.

But he didn't mention being taken out by the autocannon last night, which was very unusual; demons are definitely not magnanimous creatures.

"You must be curious why I'm completely unconcerned about what you and your friends did last night."

With his thoughts guessed, Constantine, though surprised, remained composed.

"You're right, why is that?"

Beru'er pointed to his heart with a sharp finger, "Because I have Cuixi to keep me entertained."

He watched Constantine's constantly changing face with interest, then slowly said:

"I am different from other demons, John."

"I truly appreciate pure souls; they taste more unique than the usual fare."

Saying this, he licked the bone with his long tongue: "They are delicious."

Constantine's face was expressionless, but his hands were tightly clenched into fists.

"Now, tell me, John, what have you done in this day that makes you dare to face me today?"

As he spoke, Beru'er floated up from the pool and flew directly in front of Constantine.

He wasn't wearing clothes, and Constantine turned his head away in disgust.

"I listened to you and went to find your rivals."

"Very good, how many did you take care of?" Beru'er's large yellow eyes constantly scanned him.

"All of them."

"What did you say?" His answer was somewhat unexpected, causing Beru'er to be momentarily stunned.

Constantine raised his head, and a strong golden light emanated from his seven orifices.

"I mean, I brought them all."

With that, a large cloud of black gas spewed out from Constantine's seven orifices.

And he also let out a painful roar during this process.

Under Beru'er's gaze, these black gases quickly condensed into bodies, which were precisely the five demons hostile to him.

"Long time no see, Nilgai."

Constantine, coughing to the side, suddenly widened his eyes at the name, staring intently at Beru'er.

"Nilgai?" He would never forget that name.

"Heh heh heh, so that's it. You teamed up with them to deal with me."

"That is indeed your style, John. I certainly didn't misjudge you."

Beru'er said, then suddenly opened his large mouth.

A sticky thing "spat" out of his mouth, and in the blink of an eye, it transformed into a demon with bull horns, bat wings, and the lower body of a snake.

He was Nilgai, the true culprit behind the "Newcastle" incident.

"Nilgai…" Constantine's face was grim.

"Surprised to see me, John?"

Nilgai grinned maliciously, completely disregarding the five demons.

"You made a mistake. Did you think I came to you because I couldn't defeat these five rivals?"

Nilgai swept his snake tail, knocking the five demons away.

"Did you forget? This is my territory! This is my hell!"

Within his domain, he could exert far more power than other demons!

The five demons were not intimidated by Nilgai; they had anticipated this situation before coming.

"Your plan better succeed!" one of the demons said in an unfriendly tone.

A bloated demon with only a large mouth for facial features lunged forward, wrapping its hands tightly around Nilgai.

The two-headed demon charged up and bit fiercely into Nilgai's flesh.

The demon with an eyeball in its mouth glared, and a yellow light shot out, hitting Nilgai… The other demons also used their various methods of attack.

Nilgai dealt with them easily, but he felt very strange; when did these demons become so united?

But he didn't think much of it; this manor was not only his residence, his playground, but also his energy pool.

Here, he used cruel methods to slaughter the fallen, accumulating an immeasurable amount of negative energy.

If these five rivals had stayed quietly in their own lairs, he wouldn't have been able to do anything to them, but daring to step into his territory meant only death.

However, fighting five at once was too troublesome, so Nilgai planned to separate them and kill them one by one.

In this manor, he could freely perform spatial displacement on anything.

So he acted, but to his surprise, the teleportation magic didn't respond.

"What did you do?"

Nilgai suddenly looked at Constantine; if anyone could have done this, he was the first person he thought of.

Constantine gave him the middle finger, flashing a mocking smile.

"Fuck. You."

Nilgai reached out his large hand, seemingly about to crush his head.

But Constantine calmly took a breath, settled his Qi in his Dantian, and then roared:

"Boss! Save me!"

Rumble—!

A figure descended like thunder. Nilgai's hand struck him, but it was like hitting a steel wall, and his wrist snapped.

Nilgai retracted his hand and flew back, both shocked and furious: "Who are you?!"

"My. Name. Is…"

Dane's eyes were filled with lightning as he smiled and looked up.

"Shazam!"

As the "Shazam" incantation was uttered, the void suddenly produced the power of thunder, and all evil things near the blood pool were struck and injured by Zeus's divine lightning.

Nilgai, facing the greatest damage directly, was blasted open by the bursting lightning.

But as he said, the manor was his energy pool; as long as the energy in the pool was not exhausted, he would not die!

However, the other five demons were not so lucky; they repeatedly endured the thunder's bombardment and were on the verge of collapsing.

The four-eyed demon who had made a pact with Constantine reached out to him:

"No, Constantine, you promised us—!"

Constantine stepped back and hid behind Dane.

He coolly pulled out a new cigarette, lit it, took a deep drag, and exhaled the smoke.

Only then did he slowly say: "Is this your first day in hell? Everyone in hell knows that I, John Constantine…"

"Do not keep promises!"

"Ah—! John Constantine, we curse you…"
