Two hours later, Hazel arrived at school, and Dior was already waiting for her at the entrance. Hazel walked up to her quickly. "Babe, I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."
"It's okay," Dior replied, looking at her outfit with a slight frown. "Just wear this quickly, that look is not your style."
"Okay."
Hazel quickly went to hide and changed into the outfit Dior brought—a white top and a white short skirt with white sneakers, perfectly matching Dior's outfit. She came out and casually dumped her previous clothes in the trash.
They walked into the school together and soon spotted Vorden. He was wearing a white top as well, and the moment Hazel noticed the writing on their shirts, she smiled. Vorden's shirt had THIS, Hazel's had IS MY, and Dior's had BEST FRIEND, forming the sentence: This is my best friend. It was one of their rules, and they always followed it.
"Good morning, girls," Vorden said.
"Morning," they both replied.
"Let's get going before the lecturer punishes us for coming late," he added, and they quickly made their way to class. They had barely settled in when the lecturer walked in. The class went on for about fifty minutes before it ended.
Afterward, they went to the cafeteria for lunch, grabbed their food, and sat at their usual spot. While eating, Hazel's phone buzzed. She checked the message and smiled slightly.
"He's sent the address. We'll go after school," she said.
Vorden nodded in understanding.
They finished eating, and Vorden stood up. "I'm heading to my cooking class. Bye, girls."
"Bye," they replied as he left.
Hazel and Dior went back to their lecture hall. The lecturer was busy explaining when Hazel's phone buzzed again.
"Who is it?" Dior whispered.
"It's Liam. He said his brother is also coming."
Dior frowned slightly. "What? Isn't this supposed to be a secret relationship?"
"Yeah, but it's normal if he tells his brother," Hazel replied.
"Hmm… you're right."
"Hey, you!" the lecturer suddenly snapped, pointing at Dior. "Since you like talking so much, you can continue outside. Get out!"
Dior quickly stood up, trying not to laugh, and walked out of the class. Not long after, the lecture ended.
Hazel went to meet Vorden at the parking lot. "Where's Dior?" he asked.
"I haven't seen her since the lecturer sent her out. Let me call her," Hazel said, bringing out her phone.
Just then, Dior rushed over. "Sorry for keeping you waiting! Someone spilled coffee on my dress, so I had to change."
Vorden looked her up and down. "And now you look like you're going to a party. That makeup is too much."
Dior rolled her eyes. "Since we're meeting someone important today, I thought we should look nice."
She was lying. The truth was, she dressed up for Liam's brother because of her modeling career. She knew he was launching a new product and might need a model.
"She's right," Hazel said. "Let's just go. I'm okay like this."
They got into the car, and Vorden drove off.
"Dior, do you have your makeup kit?" Hazel asked.
"Yeah, take my bag."
Hazel opened it and started applying light makeup—powder, a little touch-up, and finally pink lipstick that made her lips stand out beautifully.
"How do I look?" she asked.
Vorden glanced at her and blinked. "…I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless. You look beautiful."
Dior smiled proudly. "See? My teaching paid off. You look so good."
"Thanks, guys," Hazel said with a small smile. She then took the brush and adjusted her hair, letting it fall naturally to show more of her white strands. "Now I'm ready."
They arrived at the restaurant and got down.
"Wow… a five-star restaurant," Dior said, looking around in admiration.
Hazel glanced at Vorden and noticed his hair was slightly messy. She stepped closer, stood on her tiptoes, and used her hands to fix it.
"What are you doing?" Vorden asked.
"Your hair is messy. Stay still," she said, focusing as she arranged it neatly.
Vorden stayed still.
Across the entrance, Liam saw everything.
His expression darkened instantly.
"Well… I guess your girlfriend likes him a lot," Damian said beside him with a slight smirk. "He must be very important to her."
Damian was Liam's younger brother, twenty-four years old, a highly successful doctor who lived in Australia. He was known publicly as a genius in medicine, even holding world records, but behind that perfect image, he was just as dangerous as Liam—a ruthless mafia leader in his own territory.
Liam's eyes grew colder. "Let's go," he said shortly.
He stepped forward and cleared his throat slightly.
Hazel heard it but ignored him, finishing Vorden's hair.
"Okay, I'm done," she said, stepping back.
When she turned around, she saw Liam… and froze for a second.
He was already looking at her.
For a moment, he forgot why he was even angry.
Then his gaze dropped slightly to her outfit… and Vorden's… and Dior's.
This is my… what? he thought, his jaw tightening slightly.
Damian noticed the tension immediately.
"Why don't we go inside?" he suggested casually.
"Sure," Hazel replied.
They all went inside and took their seats. Liam sat beside Hazel, while Vorden sat on her other side. A waiter approached them.
"What would you like to order?"
"Don't worry," Liam said. "Bring everything on the menu."
"Yes, sir."
Damian leaned back slightly. "Why don't we introduce ourselves?"
"I'll go first. My name is Damian Greco, Liam's younger brother. I'm a medical doctor."
Dior straightened slightly. "I'm Dior George. I'm a model, a dancer, and a singer… and Hazel's best friend."
Damian's eyes paused on her for a second.
Dior George… is she the one I've been waiting for? he thought.
