Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Pride and Pain

Hazel moved back, giving Dior enough space as she began her performance. Damian's eyes never left her.

She's really talented… he thought, his gaze softening. After twelve years of searching for you… I became a doctor just for the chance to find you again. And now… I finally have. I'm never losing you again. Nothing in this world will separate me from you… not even you.

A faint smile appeared on his lips as he continued watching her.

Dior moved smoothly across the ice, her body flowing effortlessly with each motion. Every step was precise, every turn graceful. She struck poses between movements and even added playful winks, just like a celebrity performing on stage—something she had perfected during her dance training.

When she finished, she struck one final pose.

Hazel clapped immediately, skating toward her. Soon, the people around them began clapping as well. Some had already taken out their phones, recording her performance and posting it online.

"Thank you," Dior said, bowing slightly.

"Wow, that was amazing," Hazel said excitedly. "No—you're not just good, you're wonderful. No wonder our dance instructor always praises you. Even with such a hard routine, you still managed to pose and wink at the same time. You're really talented."

Meanwhile, the boys hadn't even started skating. They were still sitting, watching the girls—and the crowd.

Hazel turned to Dior with a playful smile. "Do you want to try?"

Dior smirked. "Hmm… sure. Let's see if you can learn it just by watching me."

Hazel raised an eyebrow. "Are you daring me right now?"

"What if I am?"

"Fine."

Dior moved aside, and Hazel stepped forward.

She took a deep breath… then started.

To everyone's surprise, she followed every single move Dior had done—perfectly. Not a single step missed. The crowd quickly took out their phones again, recording her this time.

But midway through—

She strained her leg.

Vorden and Liam both noticed immediately.

Still, Hazel refused to stop. Too many people were watching. If she fell, it could damage her growing reputation. She forced herself to continue.

And she finished.

She struck her final pose.

Applause erupted around her.

"Wow… not bad," Dior said, impressed. "You actually did everything. You're really good."

"Yeah, I know," Hazel replied confidently, though she was clearly in pain.

The crowd slowly returned to their activities, putting their phones away.

"Dior… I need to sit. I think I sprained my ankle."

"Okay, let me help you—"

"No, I can manage."

Just then, Vorden and Liam reached her at the same time, both extending their hands toward her.

Hazel paused… then chose.

She took Vorden's hand.

She was still angry at Liam.

Vorden carefully guided her to the bench and helped her sit down.

"Let me see your foot," he said, already removing her skate. "Why didn't you stop when you felt the strain?"

"I—I…"

"I don't want to hear it," he said firmly. "Don't move. I'll get ice."

He stood up and walked off.

Liam remained where he was, watching her silently. For once… he hesitated.

Should he go to her… or not?
