Chapter 2 - Code Name: Shadow

Neither the original, known as Shadow Spider-Man, nor Peter, who was now passively receiving everything within him, could quite believe it.

So, Peter went to the Daily Bugle, wanting to ask Jonah in person to understand what was going on.

As a result, he saw "Jonah" shot dead in the office! The scene of him holding a Revolver in the office was also "coincidentally" witnessed by the police who happened to be there!

After escaping the police pursuit, Peter went to the police station's morgue and discovered the mysteries surrounding the body.

When he returned to the small room where he kept his files, trying to find some clues from Urich's files, another Peter possessed him!

Peter opened his eyes, blinked, and found that the pain in his mind had completely disappeared.

The fusion of memory fragments made him unable to distinguish for a moment whether he was Peter, the Shadow Spider-Man, or the Peter who had just entered the first year of high school.

Or perhaps, both?

However, this did confirm one thing: in this world, no, in a certain world, there were also people like him! Bitten by a spider, and also gained extraordinary abilities! It was just that, compared to this gentleman code-named Shadow Spider-Man, his life was much happier.

Even though he hadn't seen his parents since he was a child, he had an Aunt May who adored him!

"Can I still go back?"

Thinking this, Peter tried to communicate with the strange web in his mind.

He quickly confirmed that he could still go back!

As long as he actively severed the glowing silk thread from the light point, his consciousness would leave this world and return to his own! However, Peter wasn't in a hurry to go back anymore.

He wanted to see another world, another Spider-Man, and other adventures! Peter's gaze landed on the photos in front of him.

These were detailed profiles of the Green Goblin gang members:

[Sergei Kravinoff, also known as: Kraven the Hunter, Profession: Beast Master, Nationality: Russia]

[Adrian Toomes, also known as: Vulture, Nationality: Unknown.]

[Dmitri Smerdyakov, also known as: Chameleon, Nationality: Russia, Kraven the Hunter's half-brother, possesses the ability to perfectly mold others' faces to mimic their targets!]

"The core members of the Green Goblin's gang were recruited from circuses and freak shows, so it's not surprising they have some strange abilities." After merging with the Shadow Spider-Man's abilities, Peter found his logical reasoning skills had also greatly improved.

"The dead Jonah is a fake, so the real one must have been captured by the Green Goblin!"

"Why would they capture Jonah?"

"Urich!"

"Because before his death, he wanted to expose the Green Goblin's crimes through Jonah, but the Green Goblin found out! The Daily Bugle must have an informant there! Then, the Green Goblin sent someone to capture Jonah and had the Chameleon impersonate him. However, he was shot and killed!"

"Who pulled the trigger?"

"It should be Felicia Hardy!"

"She said she witnessed Thompson shoot Urich with her own eyes, so she took advantage of the chaos to take away the evidence Urich had collected. And she was in love with Urich, so it makes sense that she'd want to avenge him."

"It's just that there are too many coincidences in this world. The Chameleon disguised as Thompson shot Urich, and they also didn't anticipate Felicia's decisiveness, so the Chameleon died."

"But in this case, Felicia will definitely be in danger because since they captured Jonah, who was contacted by Urich, they certainly won't let Felicia, who is closer to him, go!"

"Wait, no, there's one more person who's also their target!"

"That's me, Peter Parker!"

"Because before Urich's accident, I was his best photography partner and even had a conflict with the Green Goblin in Felicia's bar!"

"They will definitely come to my home to find me... Not good, Aunt May!"

Peter stood up abruptly.

Although this Aunt May wasn't his Aunt May, the fragments of the Shadow Spider-Man's memories still gave him a deep affection for Aunt May. Thinking that Aunt May might be in danger because of him, he couldn't sit still.

Parker's Home.

Knock, knock, knock.

Aunt May stood in front of the room and knocked on the door.

"Peter, are you home?"

After waiting for a moment, there was no response from inside, so Aunt May pushed the door open and walked in.

She seemed to have just heard some movement in the room and was about to come in to take a look.

Whoosh—

A gust of wind blew towards her face.

Aunt May noticed that the window in the room was not closed.

She breathed a sigh of relief, a little bit annoyed. "This child, how many times have I told him? If he goes out, he needs to close the windows properly, really."

Saying this, she walked toward the window.

Before she had taken two steps, a huge shadow suddenly lunged down from behind.

Aunt May noticed the movement and instinctively turned around, "Peter?"

"It's Toomes!" The shadow threw Aunt May to the ground, and chuckled sinisterly.

Aunt May then realized that this was someone she didn't recognize at all.

He was wearing a black, wide robe, and his head was bald. He had a mouth full of sharp fangs, and he didn't look like a normal human.

What was even more frightening were his eyes, which were ferocious and terrifying. When he looked at her, it didn't seem like he was looking at a person, but rather, at food?

Vulture sized up Aunt May's body, hissing, "Hiss—a bag of old bones. The flesh on your husband was more… delicious, hiss—"

Aunt May shuddered, her eyes widening in horror; she couldn't believe the words coming out of this person's mouth.

Flesh… more delicious? What… did he mean? A terrifying thought flashed through her mind.

Could it be that Ben… wasn't torn apart by wild dogs, but by the person in front of her…?

"Let her go, Toomes!" A figure in a black robe appeared in the doorway, shattering the atmosphere in the room.

Vulture, with one hand still gripping Aunt May, turned his head. "Sss-Spider-Man, you can move, right? With those weird webs? But how fast can you move, Sss-Spider-Man? Fast enough to stop me from tearing, sss-tearing her neck apart?"

"No…" Peter faltered for a moment. He was, after all, just a teenager.

But at this moment, the Shadow Spider-Man part of him took over.

He uncontrollably pulled a Revolver out of his black trench coat pocket, pointing it at Vulture's head.

"I can!"

Bang!

A gunshot rang out with the decisive words.

The Revolver automatically rotated once. The recoil was almost negligible thanks to Spider-Man's strong physical condition. The bullet hit Vulture's brow with extreme precision, piercing straight through his head.

The powerful kinetic energy instantly turned Vulture's brain into a mess, causing him to collapse directly!
