Chapter 55 - 55

Chapter 55: Asgard

As the Ancient One opened the portal, on the other side, the entirety of Asgard gradually appeared before Sherlock's eyes.

Although he had seen it countless times in movies, and even witnessed the destruction of this glorious city, Sherlock still felt an inexplicable shock seeing this golden city with his own eyes.

The entire Asgard resembled a gigantic city-spaceship, quietly floating in the vast Universe, with houses, lakes, and farmlands all coexisting within this enormous city.

There was no dome-like structure covering the city, yet magically, when the portal opened, there was no atmospheric pressure imbalance, as if the entire Universe was filled with air.

Out of politeness, the Ancient One's portal did not open directly inside Asgard's city, but rather on the broken Bifrost Bridge, which allowed Sherlock to see the full panorama of Asgard.

Under an unknown light source, the entire Asgard looked like a exquisite work of art made of gold, especially the castle standing in the center of the city, which was even more resplendent.

Just this captivating color was enough for Sherlock to like this alien city he was seeing for the first time; even if he was a U.S. Sherlock, he would still declare this his dream city.

The Ancient One paid no mind to Sherlock's little thoughts. After the portal opened, she was the first to step through. Seeing the Ancient One move, Sherlock was about to follow when he felt something was off.

He looked at the Ancient One's bright yellow monk robes, then at his own extremely comfortable casual wear, and Sherlock couldn't help but smack his head.

With a wave of his hand, his casual clothes swiftly transformed into Kamar-Taj-style monk robes. Only then did Sherlock nod in satisfaction and follow the Ancient One into the portal.

The moment Sherlock truly stepped onto the land of Asgard, he could no longer suppress his curiosity and began looking around and touching things.

Especially the Bifrost Bridge under his feet, which had been broken by Thor's mighty hammer. Although it had lost its vibrant colors and become less vivid, Sherlock was still incredibly curious about it.

After all, this thing in Thor 1's plot was capable of destroying a kingdom. To put it in perspective, it was basically no different from the Death Star in Star Wars.

One could even say that the entire Asgard was a replica of the Death Star, with the Bifrost Bridge essentially being the main cannon of this colossal city-starship.

Thinking of this, Sherlock's expression became incredibly strange. Once he adopted this setting, Sherlock could no longer look directly at this official and sole entry point to Asgard.

Sherlock couldn't help but feel that this thing was no different from watching people being loaded into a cannon and shot out at a circus when he was a child.

With an increasingly strange expression, Sherlock couldn't help but squat down and touch this main cannon of Asgard. The strange sensation upon contact piqued Sherlock's interest in the Bifrost Bridge.

The entire Bifrost Bridge felt like a combination of stone, metal, and a bit of glass. Sherlock simply couldn't understand how it could transmit such immense energy to destroy a Planet.

The Ancient One watched Sherlock, who was like a curious child, but she wasn't in a hurry. After satisfying most of Sherlock's curiosity, she finally spoke, reminding Sherlock to stay close as the people of Asgard were already waiting.

Upon hearing the Ancient One's reminder, Sherlock reined in his curiosity and followed closely behind the Ancient One, beginning to walk towards Asgard at the end of the Bifrost Bridge.

As the two advanced, the outline of Asgard's city became increasingly clear before Sherlock's eyes.

Sherlock also saw Heimdall, the gatekeeper of Asgard, standing at the end of the Bifrost Bridge.

Heimdall still wore his golden armor with a pair of bull horns. Sherlock had a particularly deep impression of this gatekeeper of Asgard, especially his unusually keen eyes.

Before he transmigrated, around the time Avengers: Endgame was about to be released, Sherlock saw people online wildly speculating where the various Stones were. Some guessed that Heimdall's eyes were the legendary Soul Stone, and it was because of the Soul Stone that Heimdall could see the distant Earth from Asgard.

Now seeing the Zhenren (Immortal), Sherlock became even more excited.

Fortunately, the Ancient One was still by Sherlock's side, so Sherlock maintained his basic sanity and didn't rush over to ask for an autograph or anything.

Seeing the Ancient One approaching with Sherlock, Heimdall, standing at the end of the Bifrost Bridge, quickly walked a few steps forward to greet them.

"Respected Sorcerer Supreme, please follow me. The carriage is ready, and the All-Father is waiting for your presence in the palace."

Upon hearing Heimdall's words, the Ancient One nodded and followed Heimdall towards the carriage. As an inconspicuous figure, Sherlock naturally kept pace with the big shot.

The two boarded a magnificent golden carriage under Heimdall's guidance. Once they were seated, the carriage automatically started moving towards the city of Asgard.

As the carriage delved deeper into Asgard's city, Sherlock felt his eyes were almost not enough to take everything in.

The interior of Asgard's city gave Sherlock the feeling of a sci-fi version of medieval Europe. Coupled with the shops selling various magical items, Sherlock inexplicably felt that it also had a bit of a gilded Hogsmeade vibe.

The carriage traveled for a while before approaching the magnificent golden castle located in the very center of the city. From a distance, Sherlock hadn't felt much, but now, having arrived beneath the castle, Sherlock only felt how tall and majestic it was.

At this time, outside the castle, there were already people who looked like ministers waiting for the two. After the carriage stopped, this minister-like person led Sherlock and the Ancient One into the castle.

Sherlock was like a curious child all the way, looking left and right, observing everything around him. It was no wonder Sherlock looked so unworldly.

After all, counting both his lives before and after transmigration, this was Sherlock's first encounter with an alien civilization.

Under the minister's guidance, Sherlock followed the Ancient One into the grand hall of All-Father Odin.

At this moment, the hall was already filled with all the important figures of Asgard.

All-Father Odin was seated on the throne on the high platform, holding his spear. Frigga, the Goddess, stood beside All-Father Odin.

And below the high platform, facing the main entrance, stood figures similar to Asgard's ministers, with Thor, as Odin's son, naturally among them.
