Chapter 2 - Special

I sat in the snow immersed in my thoughts while the white figure sat across me watching me curiously.

After a few moments i finally calmed down and stopped thinking unnecesary thoughts.

"So you're telling me i died?"

"That's right."

"Hmm."

Scratching the back of my head i stared at the supposed 'god' who for some reason was right now talking to me and even waiting patiently.

'now that i think about it, isn't it weird for him to actually go and meet me? Doesn't he have better things to do.'

"You're thinking why im here right?"

"!"

"Don't worry i planned on explaining it from the beggining."

'So there was a reason, wait did he just read my mind?'

Before i could ask him more questions, he stood up and started walking somewhere which i followed soon after.

The snow on our bodies instead of melting, dissapeared into the air like nothing.

"You see." He suddenly spoke up to me. "You caught my eye, to be honest." The god slowed down his pace turning his head slightly to me.

"Your life, your connections, your character and every single aspect of you is so simple and boring that it seems you yourself didn't actually like it." He spoke to me as if having watched my entire life from the very beggining.

It was somewhat true that i didn't like my life, i only took the easiest way out and didn't try too hard for anything i wanted. I didn't like that aspect of me but that wasn't something i wanted to change, maybe it was exactly because of my laziness that i never got to enjoy my life in the slightest.

"But now look at you." Pressing a finger against my chest. "You're reduced to a simple wandering soul by the hands of someone you never even knew."

"Wait then who killed me-"

"Shh, shh, shh..." Before i could finish my words he covered my mouth with his hand, even without eyes it seemed as though i was a little child in his pressence.

"That is something that i cant and won't tell you, i don't want to make you hate anyone and die with regrets."

'Okay..'

He seemed to understand, taking his hands back and turning his back to me. "Its not like you are going to stay dead forever."

"What?" I blurted out unconciously.

God gave me a glance before hitting himself in the forehead as if remembering something.

"Ah right! I forgot to mention the reason i'm meeting you."

He raised his hand in the air and like some sort of machine, the entire area started to slowly shift and change, the snow covered field was now filled with fresh green grass that had many various paths built on it.

Under our feet started to appear wooden planks and bricks that slowly stacked together forming walls and a ceiling making a little house in which both of us were.

There was a small fireplace aswell as two big armchairs and a small table between them, it seemed ad though it was made just for the two of us.

"Care to take a seat?" As he said that, i didn't notice when he got onto one of the armchairs, i couldn't even blink as he appeared outside my vision.

'right, hes god'

Whatever he did and could do was out of my expectations, as a god he could do anything he wanted but there had to be some limitations so we wouldn't be affected during our lives.

When i tried to go to the empty one, i noticed that i wasn't standing anymore, it seemed as though i got a little shorter, my point of view was also different as i was currently staring straight into the fireplace.

'Holy shi-'

"Ekhem, anyways." God seemed slightly impatient for some reason but i understood this, i wasn't someone special that he could waste his time on me.

"You were chosen to be a 'hero' of a certain world."

'The what?'

Looking at him with a confused expression i tried to gauge any answer or explanation. He only shrugged and continued.

"You will need to become stronger and help people because a certain death is awaiting them. In a few years or maybe even less, there should happen a catastrophic event that you, and only you will be able to stop."

'but why?'

He didn't seem to hear my thoughts this time as he continued to mumble about how tragic the event will be, i noticed one thing that he seemed to avoid in his explanations. What the event will be exactly, it was probably the same as when he was stopping me from asking about my killer.

'Knowledge is a great power and a curse after all.'

Just how many things did this entity sitting in front of me in this small isolated space know, how many people does he have to look over if he cares about other universes aswell, the weight that he carries on his shoulders while helping us in the most simple ways.

"So then." He seemed to have said enough about the dangers of the said catastrophe as he leaned forward looking, or atleast what seemed to be looking at me. "Will you accept this?"

"Wait, i need to actually agree to this? I thought i had no choice but to do this."

"It's still a good thing to ask, i can find another person but you are special and you never know how many years or decades it will take for another one ot appear."

'that.. makes sense'

"But what if i disagree?"

The god let out a small sigh before turning to the fireplace.

"If you agree then you start out your life as a prepared vessel that was nurtured by me, you won't gain or lose anything, its like simply changing homes. But if you disagree.." He looked back at me, with an expressionless smile on his blank white body. "You die."

.

We sat there accompanied by the comforting silence, the crackling of the fireplace was the only thing that reminded me it was real, but whats the most important thing on my mind, was that..

'Im special.'

I wasn't useless for once, i didn't have to be noticed by everyone to accomplish something, i was born special, and i was better than everyone, the god said that no one could replace me so why would i disagree.

"Il gladly accept." With a smile on my face, i faced the god who has given me a chance to take another breath.

He smiled back showing his teeth that seemed to blend in with his skin.

Checking his wrist which hsd nothing attached to it, i could swear his eyebrows raised as he jumped up and took my hand.

'?'

Then, coming from his palms i saw a blue light go into me, i soakes everything in like a sponge as i felt some kind of power flowing within me.

My hand had some kind of symbols engraved on it which i could barely make out due to how shaky i had gotten for some reason.

"Phew, i did it on time."

I could hear gids voice from the side sounding relieved about something as my vision was slowly turning blurry and the surroundings collapsed one by one.

"It seems i cant talk to you any longer so let me give you one last piece of advice."

His voice sounded distant unlike before, i couldn't see much except his blurry white figure and a smile that was imprinted into my brain.

"Listen to the system."

My body felt exceptionally heavy and yet it was light, my mind was confused but also relaxed, i couldn't tell what i felt anymore as everything turned pitch black.

"And good luck."

His voice seemed to have still make it to my ears as he gave me the encouragement i needed.

"In your new home called Rift."
