Kael and Selene hid deep within the caves of the northern cliffs. The world outside raged with war drums, wolves sharpening claws, vampires sharpening fangs.
Inside the cave, there was only them.
Selene pressed her palm to Kael's chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart. "We are doomed," she whispered.
"No," Kael said firmly. "We are destiny."
He swore an oath then, one that no war could break. "So long as the moon rises, I am yours."
Tears welled in Selene's crimson eyes. "And so long as blood flows in me, I am yours."
Their lips met, sealing a vow that neither coven nor pack could undo.
But outside, Lilith's army grew. And Ryn's whispers turned the Silverfang pack against their Alpha.
War was no longer coming. It had already begun.
