Beep Beep Beep
The repeating sound of a cardiac monitor reverberated throughout the entire hospital room. It was tracking the heart rate of a young but frail looking teenager that was laying down on the hospital's bed.
A nearby doctor was looking at the cardiac monitor with pity and sadness knowing that the teenager wouldn't be able to survive today. The teenager had been stuck in this hospital bed his entire life, and today would be his last day.
The doctor turned to the teenage boy, drew a deep breath and parted his lips to speak.
"Are you ready?" He asked calmly
The teenager shook his head.
"Give me a minute" he replied calmly.
The teenager had a peculiar reaction to his upcoming death — it was odd to be so calm at death's door.
But it didn't matter, the teenager accepted his fate because he couldn't do anything about it, he was too powerless to change fate — it would be foolish to despair right now.
He could only sigh, reflect on his life and his ardent dreams.
He wished he could walk, he wished to be free from this inescapable cage. He wished to soar through the skies with his kin as the breeze would caress his face — but of course, this was just an unattainable dream.
His life was only filled with misery and loneliness.
If he could be reborn, he'd live his life to the fullest.
'I wish...' he thought
And then, he sighed again as he looked at the doctor.
"Do it" the teenager said calmly
The doctor looked at him, his eyes still mixed with pity and sadness. He hesitated for a few seconds and then nodded.
Then, he pulled something out that was attached to the teenager's chest where the heart would be.
Beeeeeeeeeeeep
The teenager's heart stopped — he was dead.
