Metropolis, Luther Manor.
Lionel, who increasingly felt something was wrong with his son, asked Lex, "Lex, are you alright?"
The two were now in the manor's courtyard. Lex, dressed in a black suit, gazed at the dark sky, his eyes gleaming with an inexplicable light.
"I feel… different!" Lex said, his back to his father.
"You were captured by those Kryptonians in the Phantom Zone. What did they do to you?" Lionel asked him, his breathing ragged, "Are you hurt?"
"I…" Lex turned around, a hint of confusion flashing across his face. "You told me not to meddle with the town's secrets, but I kept trying to uncover its mysteries!"
Seeing his son reflect for once, Lionel's expression grew serious. "You're always like this, Lex. No matter how much I give you, you're only interested in what you can't have. This time, you've gone too far!"
"So, are you here to help me, or to lecture me?" Lex asked him, a touch of impatience in his voice.
"It's too late now. You've made contact with devils, and you've made a deal with them. They won't let you go easily; they'll come to collect! There's a price to pay!"
A confused Lex had no intention of listening to his father. He was in a terrible mood, his mind a chaotic mess of complex emotions.
Seeing Lex about to leave, Lionel immediately walked over and placed a hand on Lex's shoulder. "Lex."
Overreacting, Lex instinctively pushed back.
With a bang, Lionel flew backward like a baseball, crashing heavily into a flowerbed.
Lex stared in astonishment at Lionel, who had flown more than ten meters.
Is his strength this formidable now?
An incredulous look flashed in his eyes as Lex extended his hand to examine his palm.
"Ugh!" Lionel grunted in pain as his body slammed into the soft earth.
His forehead and face were covered in blood, and an uncontrollable pain seized his chest. He even felt as if his ribs were broken.
"Dad, are you… are you okay?" Lex walked over and asked his father.
Seeing his son approach, Lionel's expression was one of shock. "Lex, they… what have they turned you into?"
"I…" Lex stopped, his eyes unfocused. "I… I don't know."
Filled with panic, he retreated.
His speed instantly accelerated to an incomprehensible degree, and with a "whoosh," he left the manor like a blur.
After leaving the manor, Lex moved to his room.
He couldn't comprehend the speed he had just displayed!
Had his body been transformed to such a powerful extent?
Taking a handgun from a drawer, Lex hesitated for a moment, then loaded the magazine and aimed at his palm.
Taking a deep breath, he sharply pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The sound of the bullet leaving the barrel rang out, instantly striking his palm.
Clutching his palm, Lex breathed heavily.
After a while, he slowly opened his palm.
The bullet had not pierced his palm; instead, it was clutched in his hand.
The deformed bullet, squeezed and flattened, was as if it had struck an impenetrable steel plate.
"Hmph!" Taking a deep breath, Lex felt the superpowers bestowed upon him and closed his eyes.
The feeling of power surging through his body constantly reminded him that he had been transformed into a being similar to a Kryptonian.
He had personally witnessed Kryptonians disassembling planes and catching missiles with their bare hands, knowing what powerful beings "Kryptonians" were.
"Is this my power?" Putting down the handgun, he raised his gaze and looked out the window.
The swirling dark clouds had gradually covered the entire sky and were continuously extending towards the other end of the city.
A consciousness not his own suddenly began to take over his body, and a dizzying sensation assailed him.
Feeling another consciousness within his body, one that wasn't his, vying for control, Lex clutched his aching forehead, retreated to his desk, and braced himself, struggling to resist this consciousness.
But very quickly, control of his body was completely seized.
On the other side, at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, Clark, who had separated from the Justice Society quartet, found Chloe.
"Hey, Chloe, there's something I want to tell you." As soon as he entered the newspaper office, Clark said to Chloe.
"Clark?" Chloe didn't expect him to openly come to the newspaper office at this time, and immediately, when no one was looking, pulled him into a deserted corner.
"Everyone in the world is looking for you right now, and you're showing up in public without any disguise." Chloe complained to Clark, "You know, Kal-El has never been good at disguising himself."
"I know, Chloe." Clark shrugged. "But I have to find Eric now, and maybe you can help me. I know you can often access government, especially military, websites. Maybe we can find something out."
"Maybe, but not now. Look at our computers." Clark looked in the direction Chloe pointed, and saw that all the computer screens in the entire office were filled with green, irregular, flickering symbols. The constantly jumping green characters infected all the computers like a virus. ♦ ൠ ♦ ♦
"This is?!" Clark's expression was one of shock.
Chloe pulled Clark's hand and walked towards a computer. "This electronic virus has spread to Metropolis. Because it's spreading too fast, I can't track it at all. Now this electronic virus has bypassed all firewalls, communications are completely cut off, and this virus has started infecting most of the city's infrastructure."
"Did General Zod do this?" Clark asked her, frowning.
"I don't know, but we're facing a very big crisis right now. The newspaper office's backup power is about to run out. Elevators, gas, subways—the entire city is paralyzed, worse than the Y2K bug."
As Chloe was speaking, a news broadcast suddenly came from the radio in the newspaper office.
"Due to the paralysis of the city's infrastructure, the entire city has plunged into chaos, with even violent incidents occurring in some areas!"
Due to the electronic virus interference, the announcer's voice became increasingly faint, finally disappearing amidst the "shhh" of electronic noise.
Listening to the announcer's report, Chloe's expression grew even more serious. "If this continues, I'm afraid all major cities worldwide will be invaded!"
"Vroom!" The screech of car brakes sounded, and a beam of headlights shone into where the two were.
Clark turned his gaze and saw an out-of-control car driving towards the newspaper office.
